  1. Good to hear! I'm heading down this coming weekend. Be very appreciative of any marks or pointers PM'd to me Both in the lake and outside from Swansea. Cheers, Steve.
  2. Good work squidboy.. took you a while to finally cotton on to our techniques!! Glad you and your dad are now getting some success at my fave spot Dale and I went out last night for a session, Dale got a king before the sun went down, then got in to some trevs. Nice Jews btw - same spot we fished last time? I have been scoping out some fishy looking holes on the other side of the river recently. S.
  3. Was a good session and surprising to see the kings STILL firing! They have been consistant this year since early october!!! The kings beat me this time... 30lb + 50lb leader I don't really want to step up as I like to fish the gently gently approach and get more of a buzz from the lighter line buzzing off my spool. Next time gadget! Steve.
  4. Hey raiders, Looking to get out this weekend for the first time to some inshore reefs to jig up some kings. I've not done this type of fishing before and am looking for a few marks to get me started. I am heading out of Syd Harbour and would appreciate a point in the right direction. Feel free to PM me any information. Cheers & have a good anzac day. Steve (skunga)

  11. Packing my bags for 6week holiday in Argentina Fly out on sunday, leaving the harbour kings alone for the rest of you Have a good xmas/new years and stay safe! Steve.
  12. Will be watching this thread as I'm very interested to get into this in the future. zero experience here
  13. Rod, I use anything up to 2oz on the big plastics... was using a very small running sinker to a worm hook on 9" plastics on sunday tho.. really depends on how hard the current is running and where in the water column the fish are holding. Cheers, Steve.
  14. Good to see you into them!! happy days on the kings with the light gear. forget about the knockers.. catching fish you were targeting with your mates is what its all about right? Cheers Steve.
  15. Took Spongy out for a plastics session on sunday afternoon.. Sunny with a bit of wind so I cant complain. Met Jeff at the boat ramp and headed out to a few spots in the harbour. First cast met with 2 kings chasing a big 9" plastic back to the boat.. good sign for the run out tide. After 10 mins of not a lot else we pushed on to the next spot.. A few casts and I get a touch.. Tap tap zzzzzing - away I go on 12lb line - the fish and i playing tug of war for a min or two when Ping- 40lb leader lets go - OUCH... retrieved to see the leader roughed up: only ever one power dive away from freedom! Get out the heavier rod and start working the area - a few more follows from some fish including one BEAST in the school - would have gone 8kg, dwarfed the other fish in the water... Not to be outdone and after picking up a few new techniques, Jeff calls a fish on a small white sluggo, his rod buckling over and the tussle of the fight was on - oooh's and the ahhh's from jeff as the drag sung its sweet song and a few mins later an undersized rat was boated. Big smile on Jeff's face - a quick pic on the phone and back for another swim. Congrats on your first king! The wind got up after that and we didnt get much more after that.. Called it a day with more sessions to come. Pics to come. Cheers, Steve.
  16. This is what I do too.. easy to do quickly also.

Thanks both of you for your replies.. I appreciate it I am going to sell it for a bargain - Probably $6-700 for the lot. I think everyone involved will be happy with that. At the very end of the day, it gets someone out there on the water in an otherwise unused vessel for summer, and some new gear for me Did I hear someone say shimano fireblood?

Guys, Just a quick one.. Ballpark me a price you would pay for a 13ft tinny in decent condition with an old, yet very reliable 6hp Johnson & tank. No trailer. Sorry no pics. Basic, but she goes. Selling it to an acquaintance and want to get a fair-ish price cheers Steve.
  22. Happy Days, Nothing does it like a king on the light gear!! well done Steve.
  23. After many weeks of hearing glen say "the boats almost finished" i finally got the call that we were going out for an arvo session! Knocked off work early and met glen at the boat ramp, via my local tackle store (to feed my serious plastic addiction) and picked up some "wave-worms" big 9" fat worm like suckers... ooh they look fishy! Hit the water for a 'birthday fish' as it was Glens bday on the weekend.. Got round to THE spot and proclaimed "this is lookin' fishy" nicely overcast, low light and the current running with little wind.. Upon the third cast I felt the sharp take of a rat on plastic! Glen shouts "Im on" and we successfully boat two rats of about 60cm.. quick smile for the camera and back they go(pics to come soon) Both of us on, pulling drag, on the 'new' boat, for his birthday - doesn't get better than that!! There were more kings lurking around the surface but none to take any of our offerings. Tried some squid & and fresh WA Pillies for nothing. In all, a fun arvo with the harbour to ourselves! Cheers Steve.
  24. Look for 1) birds 2) bait 3) structure If you can see the kings on the surface fish your sp's weightless, try ripping them in with occasional pauses.. or let it sit (count to 25) and twitch it back to the boat slowly with occasional medium turns of speed. if you have the bait on the sounder, or getting choppers on top - rig your sp with a jig head(enough weight to suit the current and size of sp - no need to over do it) and get your placcie in the bottom 3rd of the water column. rip it in with large rod movements for the first half then twitch it back. Or twitch it off the bottom. Dont be scared of making lots of noise. and if you get them following your lure - rip it back at top speed to turn them on - if no takes, plug away with fast retrieves + occasional pauses. Don't spend too long in one spot, and likewise if you have hooked up in a possi and find that there is no more bites in 15 mins - move along - it might be hard to do: but thats kingys for ya! Good luck - let me know how you get on. Steve.
  25. Smashing a few jars in the pubs around balmain with some of the boys from my footy team on friday night. Hitting the harbour on sat arvo for a late king session. Early sunday session to nail some of the squidsquad to soak in front of some kings in the morning.. Steve.
