  1. Love Patonga - great vibe there and even better fishing! So many great spots in the river and outside.. good options for almost* any weather.. Good luck! Unfortunately I couldn't get a spot there this long weekend - but i will be staying at Umina so will be fishing the area.. so will say hi to the raiders when I am there! share a story & a beer Cheers, Steve.
  2. doing the bearings/checking lights on my trailer.. mmm summer is coming!
  3. Looks like im about to add another to my tackle box..
  4. Great... you just made me hungry! ha good work - Im going to try the sauce it sounds great!
  5. Okay, I see what you mean now.. I have a downrigger and thought you were using that & the knife jig + a live bait and was wondering how that would work.. I have been considering hanging a sluggo or spinner blade just above the lead bomb as a kind of teaser, then troll my liveys as per usual. I might be asking for trouble with tangles though.. As for diagrams, sorry i'm a web developer/graphic designer so it comes as second nature to me (dork) Thanks for the time Old Salty... Cheers, Steve.
  6. Try for bream on 'tasty' cheese baits or chicken... burley up and you should do alright.. Cheers steve.
  7. oldsalty... Any chance of showing me a diagram or even better a pic of this setup? i'd be keen to try something like this.. Cheers, Steve.
  8. I am based in ryde & drummoyne - I have picked up yakkas under the gladesville side of the gladesville bridge.. go on the slack of the tides and burley up.. not there always but have got them with a bit of consistency to give you the advice.. Let me know how you go. For the squid - go to the zoo ferry wharf: my most consistent spot both land and shore based. Cheers Steve.

    Back To The Bay

Glad the day went well! unfortunately I could not make it.. look forward to the next social Steve.
  10. Like you chopper, I have not spent ANY time on the fresh, but my regular visits to Tamworth in the past 2 years (missus has been working there) Has seen me stop off to have a sticky beak at Glenbawn and other Lakes/Dams in the area. I'd be keen to drag my boat up there and give it a shot sometime - so the info is welcomed - thanks Stewy.
  11. Great News!!! I haven't heard of any been taken for a while (to be expected) Lets all keep our fingers crossed for a good season!
  12. RMZbeast - love your avatar I'm a big trailer park boys fan ha!
  13. Kings, kings, kings... Ive added a downrigger to my 13ft tinny and cant wait to get it out there. More specifically - see how far WEST in the harbour I can get kings and squid. Also getting as light as i can on the kings.. gives me the biggest rush when I hook up on them on my light spin combo bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing!
  14. Good work Mike, Great to hear reports out of Iron Cove.. Surprising catch! I run the bay every day and would never have considered sambo's being there. Thats fishing
  15. As stated before, I am ready to lend a hand in the planning and design of a solid roadmap.. The project needs to have clearly defined goals before any brainstorming or initial storyboarding. I agree, this cannot be done via forums - I suggest skype, for voice-based conferences initially. We need the fishraider bait tank full of drive, initiative and organistation, or unfortunately this won't happen. PS: will pm you shortly.
  16. Good luck to those wetting a line on the weekend, I'm heading up to Newcastle for a housewarming. Getting on the jars (tho i'll have my spin stick with me, so may have a session off the breakwall)
  17. It's really sad that someone died & commiserations to the family and friends involved. but why the rant for? Bob, you didn't really educate in your post. Heres a few tips: (common sense really) 1) watch the seas carefully FIRST 2) appropriate clothing - lightweight + proper shoes 3) be able to swim 4) know where you will swim if you get dragged in - negates some of the panic if you went in.. 5) life vest 6) try not to fish the stones alone
  18. I generally don't bother after a big rain for 5 days or so(coming from experience) but after that, it's on!
  19. I'm quite happy to lend a hand should the reality of producing a TV show should arise. I have an audio/video/graphic/web design background. I have worked in a post production studio doing documentaries, TV ads, short films. I currently promote my own music events and have contacts in many facets of the entertainment industry. I can get us time in the studio to produce a pilot as well as voice over artists, 3D animators, music producers, camera/light/sound crews etc. Drive, determination & organization is all that is required. I would be happy to meet to help with the creation of a road map for the project should this be required. I have only been a member of these forums for a short time. I much prefer it to others as it is local and personal - without all the knockers. Fishing, was my escape from the path of excess.. it still is my solace, so I am happy to put back into it. Steve(skunga)
  20. Jewgaffer is on the money.. my very first jew came from nearby. Won't tell you 'exactly' where that hole is tho hehe Have taken plenty of big bream too on cheese. Ive caught MONSTER lizards on the Drummoyne side(across the small bay from the rowing club) I've seen a small shark in there about 5 years ago too... (I grew up in Drummoyne. Many hours fishing LB & rowing in the Iron Cove. I still target these areas on my boat today.) Good Luck
  21. Winter Kings - love it! Good effort. It's these reports that just make me ache for a fish..
  22. Hopefully hitting up the harbour saturday, Though the wind doesn't look so good in the forecasts.
  23. See you up there in September!
  24. Hahaha made me laugh!! But seriously, the cheese is the go for bream.. ive been using it for years - usually get the bigger models too. sometimes sprayed with WD40. This also works particularly well on Murray Cod Ha - one that made me laugh, put out a fresh pippi fishing off the beach one day and brought it in, with another pippi attached..
  25. Hi, Have a look at the following links.. http://192.148.120.24/npws.nsf/Content/goa...asterplan_draft they have some aerial shots of the island.. I will be out there fishing on saturday(one of my fave kingy spots), So I will see if I can get you some pics. Cheers, Steve.
