My wife and I decided to take the hour drive north to the in laws house for a weekend visit. Weather is beautiful so we went to one of the local beaches for a swim and a quick fish on the run in tide. First bait in I get hit and pull in a decent 40ish bream. After I while of not getting more bites I consult the bream I caught and asked where his friends are. He looked up at me from the bucket of water I had him in and didn't answer me [emoji853] I figure it's because I didn't call him by name so I called him bill. Anyway he wasn't forthcoming with any info so after about 40 mins I stopped fishing and went for a swim. I tried again for some more fish when the tide turned but still nothing. 1 bream isn't enough for 4 adults so I made the decision to let bill go. Off to the wash and I let him swim free only for him to sit around my feet and swim back into the bucket [emoji53] does this bream want to get eaten? I looked at him and said " bill you have to go back and swim with your friends and put him back. After a while he finally decided to go . Bye Bill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi all long time no post Just a quick note on my last 2 fishing adventures. With the run of black fish still strong in the estuaries I decided I would take my friend who was visiting out to Nambucca and see if I could help pop his cherry on the feisty little critters. We started off at the local golf course to get some weed from the ponds ( which we found in abundance) whilst doing this one of the old timers who was playing asked us what we were up to, so naturally we told him we were getting some bait. to which he replies " going to lynch some blackfish are ya?" OMG!!! So wrong but we almost doubled over laughing at that. Anyway we got to the V-Wall and started fishing the last of the run out. Long story short we got plenty for a feed and a lot of throwbacks. While we were there some old fishers came over and started but had not as much luck as their bait was a bit old so we gave them some of our collection and they started braining them. Final count was 25 fish caught ( 4 by my friend but no keepers for him) and 5 of the biggest fish for home the rest let to swim another day. Yesterday I was in Coffs Harbour for the day whilst my wife was at TAFE and decided that I would fish the jetty as the swells were a bit big for me to take to the rock walls by myself. Long story short 3 hours 1 small flathead (which spiked me ) and 1 small whiting.. So I spent the rest of the day reading my book. Cheers Chris

I resent this statement. you be without teachers, police,fire services, ambos, shopkeepers etc.... they are mostly below that threshold? not everyone is lucky enough to earn a lot of money. Then there are people like me who have earned more than that and through no fault of their own find that they are not able to work any more because of injuries incurred through work? Or people that have gone through extreme trauma from being in their jobs? Its statements like yours that shows just how uninformed and arrogant some people are. The overwhelming majority of people in Australia who do work hard find it increasingly unaffordable and these benefits help us afford food for our tables and warm places for our children to sleep. I hope that you never find yourself in a situation like mine or so many other people in this land because you may find that the reality of the situation is far different from your jaded and bigoted views.

When I had my last outboard this happened to me as well. I discovered trhat the fuel tank I had ( Plastic one) had a valve on the top that let air in as it used the petrol. I loosened this and it stopped stalling out on me and ran beautifully until I sold the boat. (worst descision of my life ((( )

Hi all, just a quick one. I am moving over to scotts head and was wondering if there are any good spots for nippers around there or do I have to go over to Nambucca heads to get them? Also are thre any realy safe ledges or spots around there for some blackfish? Thanks in advance, Chris

Hey all, have just purchased a nice shiny new simano catana light surf rod and a shiny new fin-nor reel for the blackfish YAY!! anyway I live a short way from Coffs harbour and go there like 2 times a week. I was wondering if there is any good safe place to try for blackfish there as I wold like to sped some time fishing Coffs intead of shopping etc. anyway thanks amd I look forward to hearing of some cool places. YUMM. and ludrick-angler I just asked the missus for the stick and a long handled net lol. dont think there will be any other fishing till summer. thats when the big kingies come into the system here. Hi All, After dropping the kids off to school I had a debate with myself. Should I go down to one of the local beaches and pick up some cabbage and weed for the blackfish, or should I go home and clean up, watch movies, eat and be bored. After pondering my quandary for like 10 seconds I went down to the beach and got a nice handful of cabbage then drove home and got my outfit. Got down to the V-wall and looked for a fishy spot. watched a couple of the oldtimers who said that they weren't catching anything, so with out much hope for my second ever blacky outing I walk around and rig up. One of the old guys there said that I wont be able to catch anything coz my bait is the wrong type of weed, so with even lower hopes I cast in. not 7 seconds later I get a down but miss the hook up. Rebait then cast again, same result :/ this goes on for about 30 minutes and the old guy looks at me getting downs and him not and leaves. First cast after the old guy goes down..... strike.. im on!! Finally the little beast that I had on the line started taking drag ( I wasnt ready for them to pull so bloody hard) after an eternity or 5 mins I pull in my first ever legal black fish. measuring around 36cms and well over a kilo this thing was fat as. Into the bucket he goes ( I know its a he coz he milked him self all over the place lolol) Cast again...... down Strike and drag is going off my little abu 2000 like crazy I set more drag and eventually pull up a much much better unit. By this time I had another old fella watching and he guestimated the next fish at well over 2kg. Anyway into the bucket with this one and back to fishing. All up I caught about 15 well over legal fish, got busted off about 4 times on the rocks and dropped about 9 more. I kept the first 2 fish and put the rest back. no use taking fish I prolly wont eat hey? so much for the wrong weed lolol. I didnt see anyone else catch anything. Final measurement of the big fish is 41cms and 1930grams

Hi all long time no post last year I left the hussle and bussle of busy Sydney and moved up to Gods country ( Mid North Coast NSW). I have done a bit of fishing here and there but mainly I have just taken time out from everything and concentrated on my family. A member of said family (my Fiance) was down by the V-wall earlier during the week and she told me there were lots of people catching black fish, and that maybe I should give it a go. She was amazed by the sheer number of them that the old timers were bringing in. I am a self confessed novice as far as any form of float fishing goes decided to give it a go. So off to the fishing dept of the local+_+_) ( coffs harbour) and I pick up a couple of floats some number 10 hooks and some split shots ( all of these are alien to me lol). I get home and open up the floats and see a weird contraption in there that I had never seen before, after a bit of searching on the net I find these are float stoppers lol. Anyway finally get a rig set up and off to the v-wall I go with 2 of the kids and the fiance in tow. get down there and realise that I dont have any bait lol. Manage to get some nice weed from a helpful oldtimer thank god put the weed in cast off and with in 20 seconds I have my first ever down Yay, I manage to bring in a little 20cm black fish a new pb for me as I have never caught one before. then my partner asked for a go and firdt cast she was on. awesome for a non fisher she pulled it in like a pro. Again another 20 odd cm specimen. After a while in between rebaiting for the kids and missing a few downs I move over to a different part of the wall, cast in, look away for a sec and try to find my float where is it??? I pull in the slack and BAM!!!! starts pulling drag like a freight train. after a few mins I manage to start bringing up a HUGE blackie like 40cm or so the POP line snaps at the hoook :(. Bummer. Stayed for a few more mins got heaps of downs and a couple of more small fella but no more monsters. I have been converted and I think my Partner has also yay. Cheers Chris

Im new to nambucca and have recently caight a few good bream off the v wall as well as some nice whiting and flatties from around there as well. Dont know much about the boating part of it tho as i sold my beloved "hardcore prawn" any way the landbased stuff around nambucca and macksville seems good so good luck man

Is it just me or are the fish here really smart? Maybe I have to re learn how to fish, is there anyone up here who can give me some landbased tips for the area?

Hey everyone, Long time no post. Ive just moved up to the mid north coast (coffs area) and am looking for some advice on whats around up here. Im living just off the Nambucca river and dont have a boat any more. Anyways can travel with car so no probs there. I do have to wait for a few days till the flood waters clear around here lol.
