  1. Beautiful Images... As mentioned before i cant bring my good camera on the water... great effort
  2. Ever wondered what it would be like to be under one of those suckers
  3. Sorry some are sunrise over Roebuck Bay, famous for the "stairway to the moon".
  4. to the forum.. Great post. On the subject of kingies, I got my first one today, quite unexpectedly on my 2.5 kg gear whilst fishing for whiting on Bloodworm?? Gave my gear a good workout
  5. Looks great fishing...some great shots. Too bloody cold for me
  6. No most of the time I didnt even know the bait was gone, till I went to bait the hook.
  7. Well might be... although I have never caught one or seen one caught where I was fishing. Caught a 60cm puffer last week, some spot..which I managed to land, with bent hook. F%#@*$ bit me too boot.
  8. Went down and pumped some nippers today, fished the bay. I must have lost 7 or 8 hooks, snapped off, just like cut with pliers. Maybe lots of oversize puffer fish about??...managed to bag a good sized flounder and bream. Heaps of small rays as well..kept me busy. Good day out except for all the half hooks
  9. Keep your fingers away from those teeth!!!!!!! See my post in the Bar section.
  10. Sorry give or take a few kilos, conversion error
  11. Yep amazing.... How about the A380 airbus 233,000 tons, 433kts cruise, no nuclear reactors. Bit more difficult to fish from though
  12. Nice flattie... and all before anyone knew, have to try that trick. Nice work How did you explain the fish in the fridge?
  13. Had the pleasure today, being bitten on the left index finger near the first knuckle by a 60cm model. Man those suckers bite hard. I'm lucky it didn't bite the end off my finger, as I now know has been recorded in the past. Much worse than having your finger slammed in a car door. My finger is really swollen, turning black under the fingernail and still throbbing 6 hours after the event. Just a word of advice, cut the line straight away, don't attempt to retrieve your hook.. Anyone else had an experience and still have all their fingers to tell the tale?
  14. Sounds like an interesting day... at least your all safe and able to laugh about it. Had a similar loss of gear couple of years back except my big white bucket spewed its contents including car keys, wallet, phone, smokes and tackle over a rock ledge into the drink. Can laugh now but was not real funny at the time.
  15. Went fishing for blackies today, had dropped 4 fish and was thinking maybe time for a change of hook. At the same time a large school of salmon appeared just in front of me feeding on baitfish. Thought I would try using the blackfish float with (6ft drop) as a "popper" thru the school... well all hell broke loose as 6lb line screamed off the reel for a short period, then the fish self released. It worked a treat but my little size10 hook was as straightened and now certainly needed changing. I suppose I never stood a chance but it was very exciting. Will have another rod next time rigged with lure ready to go.

    Blackfish

Hi all Have been out to the regular haunts after blackies. A bit disheartened as in the last 5 sorties have not even had as much as a passing sniff let alone a bite... Have spoken to a few locals about this, with varying reports. Some say winter only...others say summer only. Do blackfish have a "season" ? Have also heard that the water is too warm at the moment???? Anyone enlighten me please, Cheers Greg

    Rock Cale

Regular catch for me chasing blackies around Maroubra. Make great cat food, slippery slimey suckers. Try them, I did, still alive but not a good table fish...
  19. Sounds like a great outing... fishing without a float mmm sounds different.
  20. Some nice fat yellowbellies there... are they the fish you caught?
  21. A beautiful time of day and a magnificent shot. With my knowledge of meteorology looks like the sun rising has illuminated virga falling from middle level alto cumulus/stratus..yes that sort of event only happens for a short time. lucky you had camera handy..
  22. Well done what a great day by the looks of it. Great to see the blackies are sill around, been a bit quite around my way latey. I didnt know they travelled that far up river. anyway good on you.
  23. Hi thanks for the feedback.. Im actually no where near an outlet or creek(although I do know the one you speak of down around the corner about 3km from where I fish) and I have had most sucess on cabbage collected on the coast.. greg Ps roosterman ,the double hookup with your dad sounds like one of those special moments that make it all worth while, what a moment to share with your dad!!!!!! Yes have seen the cabbage mowed short like that but never witnessed the mowing. They do a good job..would be something to see.
