  1. Has anyone set up an underwater camera that runs to to their sounder? My northstar m121 has a camera input and I was wondering if you could set it up with a camera off the transom. Would you be able to see anything while you were underway? Like a marlin in your spread? :1yikes: Surely there are pretty cheap underwater cameras you could do this with these days. Let me know if you have rigged up something like this or know where I may be able to get a camera that might do the trick. Cheers, Jas. PS. Not long till Easter @ Bermie!!!!!!
  2. Hi guys, I'm heading to Darwin and surrounds soon for 2 weeks and wanted to have a couple of days fishing. One just on a charter out of Darwin day or half day, whichever fits in (who am I kidding, it's the full day for sure). And one chasing some barra. I've searched through this topics and I know there are few posts about this but most of the responses are PM'd so sorry for the new post. So if you've had a good experience or know of a good company it would be great if you could PM me. Don't like taking pot luck and possibly ending up on a boat full of turkeys. We will have a car and be in Litchfield NP for a few days as well, I don't know where the best barra fishing is but am more than happy to travel. I'm guessing the driving up there is pretty unique. Any tips greatly appreciated. Hopefully I'll be able to repay the favour with a few photos of large black jew or barra. If I catch a big one you will probably hear me hooting from Sydney. Catching a large jew is very high on the all time list of things to do. Thanks, Jas.
  3. Ha! How do you get them to stay still to rub the pillys on them?
  4. Site looks great. Thanks for all your hard work. It's greatly appreciated. Will the new site make my fish look bigger? Hope so. Cheers, Jas
  5. Holy crap!!! Imagine standing watching your boat do that! "No,no that did not just happen...".
  6. That's bloody cool. Good to see the pooch earning his keep. It's an effing big fish. It's just a bit upsetting that yes, the fish is three times the size of anything I have caught. Jas.
  7. all these pictures and posts and not a single mother-in-law gag...
  8. Awesome king. The $50 was probably from a disgruntled fisho who decided to save time and just chuck his hard earned straight in the drink, saving him a trip to the tackle shop, servo etc. He got away pretty lightly I think. Great fish, I hope there is one of those out there with my name on it, if not the fish then the pineapple... Cheers, Jas.
  9. Yikes! A Long Tom on your Long Tom...
  10. G'day guys, Cooked an ocean trout from a recipe in the food safari cook book last night and it was a bloody cracker. Had it with friends and they just about wet their pants. Gotta love easy recipes that make you look good. The recipe calls for salmon but I thought trout would be good, not really really sure why, but I think it works. I have to say I'm not really one for adding too much to fresh cooked fish but this is definitely worth a go. It's one for the pool room. Not too difficult. Good for occasions, good for any old Sunday. The fish is served at room temp so you can prepare it in advance, and with the toppings it is forgiving if you overcook it a bit. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed, it gave me goose bumps. http://www.sbs.com.au/food/foodsafarirecip...ator'_style Let me know what you think. Cheers, Jas. Thanks to Food Safari and Greg Malouf.
  11. Great fish. Hope he was well and truly 'sleeping' by the time you got him in the boat. Gotta be happy with a head wetting like that. Chees, Jas.
  12. Amazing looking little shark. Yep, hope you didn't piss mum off. That turtle can scoff as many of those pesky blue bottles as he likes. Fella must have a tough tongue! Cheers, Jas.
  13. Holy crap thats a monster. I think it's actually something that skidded off one of the runways on take off to Europe. Cheers, Jas.

    Our Husky

Nice pooch. There's nothing quite like a good dog. You've obviously trained her very well, which I think is good for all concerned. You'll have years of loyal love. Had to put my blue heeler down 6 months ago, heart broken... Nice one, Jas
  15. Yes thats a big fish, I would not like to be in the ring having that discussion with him thats for sure... Possibly not quite 3/4 of a ton though. Cheers, Jas.
  16. It's probably the latest in fish fashion, he's got a bit of bling to impress the ladies. It is a fairly hard core piercing though... EMO kingy? Nice fish. Jas.
  17. Wow. You would want to make sure it was brown bread before you got it on board. I recon the boat would feel very small very quickly with that thing going nuts.
  18. Damn they look good, I'm hungry...
  19. How did you make em sit still so you could count them?
  20. Holy crap... that's pretty loose. Although I think there might be a line in there somewhere between fun/extreme/cool and a bit stupid. They're his feet dangling over the edge though I guess...
  21. Nice one Marc, I saw Pete Pakula talk about catching whiting on poppers at the boat show. He said it was a great option. Interestingly he said its good to use a heavy leader to dumb down the action of the popper. It seems whiting are a bit uncoordinated and you need to make it a bit easier for them. Haven't tried it yet but looking forward to it. Anyway, nice catch. Jas.
  22. Surely the weight of the captured fish is allowed to increase by a certain percentage every year, especially in the absence of a weigh in. Even more so when used in the same story as terms such as 'those were the days'. I know whose measure I would be using... 'Never let the truth get in the way...' and all that stuff. Sounds like a great day, not sure about the green water over the side though. The winding probably stopped for a few seconds as the shotgun arched out over the back, bugger, then back to the winding. Bbq's

G'day, Was wanting a few names of BBQ's that people have used and would recommend. My beloved barbie did not make the recent relocation despite my love for it. Probably fair enough, it was ten years old and and I think the rust was holding it together. RIP my old barbie. Enter my shiny new stainless barbie, four burner with hood, at astronomical cost, was reluctant but the persuaded me. Anyway the long and the short of it is that is shit and I'm really not happy with it. I'm not telling how much I spent on it but for the cost it should just about be the best BBQ on earth. One side of the grill doesn't get hot enough to actually cook anything, it barely browns meat, the other side is hot but only in one small spot. I'm pretty sure I am going to take it back, how they will feel about that I'm not sure but I'm not going to spend the next twenty years cooking on a shit barbie, which is how long they are supposed to last. So just want to know of a few good ones you have had experience with, I'm going for a four burner with hood. Has to get hot, bloody hot and good flame retardation, I want BBQ not ash Wednesday. Most of all it just has to make me happy when I use it, which is four or five times a week. I am happy to admit I loved my old BBQ but not my new one which is a problem. So let me know what barbie you love. I know this is a fishing site but we're in the kitchen and how else are you supposed to cook you monster catch? Cheers, Jas.
