  1. Nice photo. Looks like they are pissed and passed out after having drunk the beer!
  2. Cripes, Hope you brought a couple home to run in the spring carnival... That popper is bigger than most of the fish I catch! Nice fish. Jas.

Awesome. Think you need one of those stickers on the back.. Get in, sit down...etc. And fish, Ha! Maybe after you're done just honkin' around, getting places really fast and seeing how big a dent you can make in the bank balance by burning many litres p/h. Or you could possibly pop over to indo and pick up a few passengers and be back in time for tea. Not to mention the getting the ladies on there. Great rig. Happy times. Certainly lives up to it's name. Cheers, Jas.
  4. Great report, coverage from go to woe. Good to see the spoils of victory. I'm hungry... Nice one Cheers, Jas. PS. Thought about giving smoked possum a crack?
  5. Awesome fish, probably give my left one for one of those.
  6. Cheers guys, Sounds like the car park might be a bit wide, got a 140 on the boat and it is a little heavy on fuel so might be a little bit too far. I'll try a few of the other marks you mentioned drifter. I'll have a chat to Duff. His level of chattyness seems directly proportional to the amount of money you are spending. The salmon will be the fall back option for sure, maybe with the bream gear for a bit of fun. Thanks for the tips. Cheers, Jas PS. Picking the boat up from Huey this morning, well excited. Might post some picks of my new stuff.
  7. Hi Guys, I heading to Nelson Bay next week with my brother to stay at my Dad's place and I want to try and get into a few game fish. Hopefully tuna. There doesn't sound like there is as many up there as there is in Sydney but I love it up there. I taking my boat, pretty much hoping to launch it on Monday and come back Friday. I'm looking to get a serious fix of fishing. Having not fished wide up there before I was hoping for a few pointers in the right direction. There is a reference to 'the car park' in the gps marks section, what happens there?. Also hoping to get a few snapper around Broughton too. But again any tips on good spots would be much appreciated. It's been expensive already, the boat is with Craig at Huett getting a bit better set up, dual batteries, new sounder, new gps epirb. Spent Kev's bonus and then some but I'm bloody excited. There's a lot of water out there it would be good to narrow it down a bit. So any tips would be greatly appreciated, I seriously want to catch some fish... Cheers, Jas.
  8. I agree Musty. A museum section, where fish and maybe fashion from a bygone era live again. We can get misty eyed about monsters (again maybe both fish and fishing fashion) that no longer exist. The old boys can bang on about how much better it used to be 'Back in the day', I know I'd enjoy it. Need a name... 'When I was a Boy', 'Back in the day', 'Remember when'. Sepia colored and faded photos, all good. Bring it on. Cheers, Jas. PS. Nice pig Terryuts.
  9. Jesus... Thats some serious sets of choppers!
  10. Nice sambo's. Looks like they come pre-crumbed. Cheers, Jas.
  11. Thanks Warnie, Sounds good. Seems a bit more like fishing than a brick, 200lb line and a large powered winch. Slightly hard work but as they say that never killed anyone (not quite convinced about that actually). Now to just just sneak a couple more 'essentials' into the budget, burn a few receipts and find some new hiding spots. Cheers, Jas
  12. G'day guys, I am planning to start getting out wide to Browns in search of a few tuna. But I also wanted to have a crack at the bottom bashing out there as it seems a good way to get a few nice fish there as it seems the tuna can be a bit fickle and also and acquired skill. I was wondering what the cheapest way of getting to the bottom was. Seems like you need at least 150 lb braid to start, after that? Some sort of snapper winch I can put on the side of the boat? I know electric reels are the go but the budget will not stretch to that so it is going to have to be the armstrong method for now. The budget is being seriously blown by a trip to Huey to get set up. Dual batteries, new sounder. Can't wait... Of course couldn't go for the budget models, so coming home at least 3K lighter but well excited, I'm hoping I'll be able to see the fish fart. Sounders on sale at Huett at the moment. So tips for a budget method to get down there would be much appreciated. Cheers, Jas.
  13. I see, I see. Sorry didn't get the connection. Thanks Ross.
  14. Hi raiders, I'd like to submit this monster I caught on holiday in Brazil a year or two ago. In Manaus on the A mazon. It is the dreaded Piranha fish and a biggun at that. I am seen here getting my own back on this toothy critter. Caught on raw steak I think. Didn't put him on the brag mat but I think he must have gone at least 3 inches... Was released unharmed. They have a wide variety of fish over there, some of them get into the several hundred pound range. I'll try and round up a few photos of the fish market we went to. Cheers, Jas. Why is A mazon typed like that? Because when you type it into the post properly it comes out as "a shop". Mods any reason for this? a shop... see.
  15. They can't have been very good fisho's. Have you seen the size of the bream that swim around at Fly point? Nothing short of monsters. And flighty... Ha! they will come and nibble your ear if you swim there. They should have been arrested for not catching record fish there if nothing else. But seriously, it's good to see turkeys getting caught and punished. Cheers, Jas.
  16. Nice one Tan, love your reports. I'm wondering what's involved in the induction ceremony? Hoods and paddles? Fish hooks? Old bait? Well done. Cheers, Jas.
  17. Does any one remember the craze of cooking Salmon in the dishwasher? Think it was in the nineties sometime. Wrap it up, pop it in the dishwasher, put it through a cycle, pull it out and away you go. Never tried it myself. Possibly one of the stupidist things I have ever heard of. Don't see why it wouldn't work though. Could be worth a crack. What's your weirdest? Cheers, Jas.
  18. Ha! I think we've all been there before...
  19. Bulldog, I can't tell if you have a boat or not from your post. If you do, there have been some not too far off south head. Drifting from the headland to Rosa gully and beyond. My sounder is broken so I can't tell you what sort of depths they have been in. There are some good patches with most of the fish I've pulled in around the 50 cm mark. Good luck. Cheers, Jason.
  20. I don't know how much boating you have done but when I got my license I did a one day course with on of the boating colleges. Can't remember if it went a full or half day. Goes through all the rules, then you do your test which you are a shoe in to pass because they go over everything well and highlight things you may need to remember especially well. The you hit the water and spend time going through some basic things. Having a drive and some safety, how to land and get on a mooring when it is windy that sort of jazz. Some of the stuff is simple but if you don't know it you would take a long time to figure it out yourself. I would recommend it. A pretty sure fire way to get your license and probably pick up a few new skills too. Cheers.
  21. I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time...
  22. Its a bit of a strange story. We were actually fishing up there on Saturday and came home to see this item on the news. I think we must have been fishing in about the exact spot he went over. Must have caused quite a fuss on Friday night but had had a few so slept through it all.
  23. Trust the Poms to fall in love with a carp. Things must be tough over there. He does look like a bit of a character though. Hang on, there's more... http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/video/Ben...s=searchresults Elvis of the fish world, nuts my ass, the big bugger probably just had a heart attack!
