Get yourself the appropriate admiralty chart (AUS 200 for MH/PJ, 201 eastern sheet) and go over every inch of it studiously. Be prepared to put in long hours on the water, keep checking the reports here, the patterns are clear after a while. Tides, moon phase, ambient light and atmospheric conditions all play their part. My angling 'mentors' catchprase is: 'every hours reconaissance is worth ten in the field'. His most valued item of tackle is the kitchen table, and he spanks it in the field 9/10 times.
