  2. imagin the amount of garbage, oils, rubber, fuel and who knows what else ends up in sydney harbour and every one seems to eat the fish from there and not mind.
  3. Hello All Fishers should beware of emails encouraging them to join the protest against the so called factory trawler in Tasmania via this website: http://www.communityrun.org/petitions/stop-giant-fishing-trawler-in-tasmania If you submit a protest through this site without reading the fine print and un ticking the box you will inadvertently become a member of Get Up!, a radical far left lobby group. This organisation campaigns for lockouts in marine and national parks. GetUp! recently bragged about it’s exponentially growing membership on the ABC’s The Drum program. The survey was the initiative Rebecca Hubbard who is an operative of Environment Tasmania (The Conservation Council). Check out the Councils agenda here: http://www.et.org.au/campaigns and Rebecca’s involvement here: http://www.et.org.au/search/node/hubbard Rather than giving green extremists a leg up, I suggest concerned fishers protest directly to the federal fisheries minister here: joe.ludwig@maff.gov.au Regards and good fishing Robert Smith BM President NSWFCA Inc
  4. rules are rules you break them you get fined. you get fined for not having your licence on you while driving car, boat. why do you think it would be any different with fishing. if you have a licence you have to (know) the rules. these days with the amount of info available there is no excuse not to know them. your mate won't forget his licence again, its just sucks for him that it was a $75 lesson.
  5. you can have more than the legal number of rods with you they just cant be rigged up. no line through the eyes no hooks, lures etc attached. the snapper rack rod holders are fine as long as there not full of rigged rods.
  6. there is a place in coffs harbour, largest shop in the world, garanteed cheepest prices, cheep delivery. over a million lures. try there, thats where all my stuff comes from
  7. i have seen carp in the upper turon for a few years. the only good thing about the drought was it killed most of them. but after all the rain we have had in the last 18 months its put a lot more water in the rivers making it easy for the carp to travel further up the river. there is also carp a long way up the winburndale rivulet, clear creek, campbells river, fish river thats just to name a few. i have seen them up tiny creeks in holes no bigger than a bath tub, these creeks only run after heavy rain and for only short periods but the carp still get up them. if there is a river that holds carp it doesent take them long to travel the system and any other system that joins into it.
  8. get an all terain coupling for your trailer. i have one of these on my boat trailer you can un hook them on any angle
  9. hi guys of to harrington/ crowdy head for an extra long long weekend and was wondering if any one has fished there lately. i have some mates that fish the area regularly for jew and bream so i know whats happening there. . taking the boat to give the close reefs and gravel patches a go on soft plastics for snapper for something different, never done it befor. what i was wanting to know has any one been doing any good on the snapper ? have there been many caught? and now for the big question does any one have any gps marks or areas that would be a good spot to try for a snapper off crowdy. cheers Jim if some one can get me onto some snapper in the salt off crowdy i can get you onto some murray cod in the fresh(must be catch and release and you have to like walking ) so if any one in the crowdy area wants to do a fishing trip trade let me know
  10. i still dont understand why we have a closed season for an introduced fish where we cant fish in the rivers at all when there breeding, but you can still fish in the rivers when its murry cod closed breeding season. all trout should be throwen up the bank with carp, red fin and talapia and all other intrduced species. i love the bush and see what feral animals do to it i am also a shooter that takes out every feral that i can and trout are no differant. so if i am trout fishing i allways take my bag limit and dump them straight in the bin or if somone feels like eating them i will keep them a feed . other than that there is no rule saying that you cant throw them up the bank you just cant have a specific number of them in your position at any one time. so if you dont like trout as much as me thats the legal way to get rid of a feral fish that is goverend by rules. i would like to point out that i am talking about fishing in rivers and dams that are fed by rivers. i dont realy care what they do with non river fed dams like TCD the trout cant escape so they are not a thret to native animals. now i am sure my post will get up a few peoples nose but this is my opinion on trout. jim jim
  11. nice fish the trevally on the left in the last pic is a bigeye trevally and its a bit hard to tell whether the other one is a GT or a brassy trevally.
  12. good mate. yep i will be there i missed it last year was on fraser island. are you going ?
  13. hi yarraone hows things all the info should come with the EPIRB. you can register them on line. once its registered you can log into your account befor going on a trip and put in where you are going, so if you have to activate your EPIRB rescue crews all ready have an idea where you are. its a bit like logging on and off on your VHF with marine rescue. just dont forget to change it if your going somewhere different, you dont want marine rescue looking at there computer thinking this EPIRB is logged in to be on Botany Bay but its signal is coming from Port Stephens.
  14. i would be throwing a few big poppers around the rock and reef ledges to see if there are any GTs around. but you will need some fairly hefty gear to tangle with GTs off the rocks. jim
  15. i have noticed that all of your admin have multiple multiple record buttons... why is that?? mrsswordfisherman you should give yourself a few record buttons, considering "all of your admin have multiple multiple record buttons" you dont want old mate getting upset that one of the admin hasent got multiple multiple records. i think there should be a sour grapes record button. you could give it to old mate that might keep him happy atleast he would have a record button. fishing should be fun not a major compitition
  16. still need a few guys if anyone is interested Jim

  20. eather of the bluewater spin rods are great i have them both , i mainley use th 10-15 kg one for spinning for tuna but i have caught plenty of reef fish on it and a few jew fish it would also make a good snapper rod if the length doesent bother you. for a 10-15 kg rod it has a lot of grunt. there is not to much differance between the two rods. go to a local tackle shop and check them out. jim
  21. there are a few pics of the 18000sw and the gt special loaded up in this link http://fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.ph...sea+trip+report jim
