    The Jew

Awesome catch!!! hope that's a sign of things to come this summer!!
  2. Hey raiders, The mechanic fixed the very small issue. It was a loose bolt - somewhere near / on the gearshaft. Very quick fix and she'll be on ther water this weekend!! He said that anything could've loosen the bolt... The motor is a 1999 johnson 70hp. It has less than 25 hours done on it as the guy i bought it off didnt use it for over 6 years.. Thanks for all of your help again!!
  3. Nice flatty!! and not sure about the cap either
  4. Hi Raider, The boat was bought privately. Sorry for the confusion all, I showed the photo (i found on the net) for illustration purposes only as at the time, i've yet to buy it. But decided to buy the boat after all the recommendations by Fishraiders. Good call and a bargain too!! Really happy with it! I'm taking the boat in tomorrow and he reckons it's the prop brush. I'll keep you guys updated. Ps: the boat goes (went) great!!! it planes really nicely, the bow lifted high due to me being a novice driver...and a very solid engine which i wasnt used to. Cheers!
  5. Hi guys, Well i took the newboat I bought out today. Stacer4.65 runabout with a Johnson 70hp 1999 model. All went well until we decided to go home. Started the engine then shifted into forward gear and the boat didnt move. Everything esle appears to be working in order. It seems like it couldnt get into gear??? when i try to accelrate it just revs harder..same thing when i put it in reverse. Had Coast Guard toll us back. They also didnt know what the cause was...any suggestions?? gear box? Prop?? wiring?
  6. nice work - straight from the backyard too!!!
  7. WHAT THE!!??? that's a croc!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Thanks Huey and Fryboy!! yes, you guys are right, im not quite used to that style and the motor looked like it's mounted a little low as when we're driving / planing out, the water was very close to the engine (probably within 5 - 10cm).
  9. Hi Raiders! I looked at a boat yesterday to buy and when test driving it, the bow lifted quite high (higher than im used to) when i was taking off. I tested it at different speeds as well and tried to balance all the weight to the front of the boat. Still quite high. It flattens out when speed is constant though. Fuel tank is built in the middle of the boat. Is this easily fixed? or maybe normal? Boat looks like this:
  10. The problem was that the impeller was burnt out. All good now. Thanks heaps all for the information. It's good to learn more and more about the mechanics of the boat and motor when given advice then mucking around with it. Cheers!!
  11. Nice mix bag there!! Those mutton birds!!!!!!!!

    Baby Kingy

OMG!!!! i noticed a rope on the side of the boat there.....that was the main line used?
  15. with an "oar"!!?? haha..... very true, hard to get rid off them as i tried fishing livie on the bottom, distracting them and secretly drop livie in close so they wont see...but they are very smart!!! i might have to resort to the "oar"!! hahahaha
  16. yep, mutton birds. great, i'll try the tuna oil close. how about when i have a livie out far from the boat, these birds are smart and spot the float, then dives down to grab the livie soooooo annoying!!! :ranting2:
  17. thanks all!! got a service booked in for next thursday, i'll get the pro to look at it as well. i'll report back when he resolves it. cheers!
  18. hi raiders.. anyone know how to get rid of those birds (humanely ;P) that is always hanging around my live bait under my float??? not sure what they're called, but they are black/brown, half pigeon half seagull looking....and not scared of coming close to humans either.. they're so ANNOYING!! cheers!
  19. Hey Raiders, Was thinking of stopping there for a quick fish / squidding on my way to friends wedding in Shellharbour.. Last time i was there (May 2010 i think), it was closed due to issues with electical cables. Have they re-opened the gates yet? Cheers!
  20. sorry, or LBG = Land Based Gamefishing..
  21. hahah...not quite... LBG = Land Base Game Cubing is a burley strategy. rather than doing one big burley, you make your burley into cubes, and drop 1 every so often. Goal is to make a burely trail and eventually attract the fish. There's a few clips on youtube if you type cubing in...
  22. even try a yakka live under a float on dusk...you never know... got busted off on 30lb braid by something huge a few years back on the pilons...took my line towards the right of the baths....then snap!!
  23. check out the teeth on this!! http://www.heraldsun.com.au/travel/world/mystical-goliath-tiger-fish-caught-on-camera/story-e6frfhdo-1225941552399
