  5. Question: If you are fishing with livies on floats when should you strike? (if i were trying catching bonnies/kingies) I tried striking when the float went under but it didn't set then other times I waited longer hoping the bait would get swallowed but found myself getting baited. Any tips? when fishing with a float, you usually have some slack line. So when the float goes down (it also depends on how fast it goes down), leave your rod bent facing the float until the line gets tight, the fish would hook itself, then strike (this is to mainly sink the hook in) and sometimes to muscle the fish if needed.

  8. Hi Rraiders, Caught a shark on saturday night in the hacking. Looks like a reef shark just over 1m in length (sorry, no pic) I heard you can eat sharks, but i never tried one (apart from flake - fish n chips) so i released it. Anyone know if it's ok to eat? worth eating etc? Cheers!

  10. i saw some for sale in tackleshops at west ryde (victoria road) and chatswood (penshurst road) they are runned by Koreans i think
  11. never had this problem when they're about. normally a bait jig and a spoon full of burely at a time near the jig is all is needed.

  16. try around any of the wharfs / piers in the harbour. eg balmoral, rose bay, clifton gardens. burley and it wont be long before you're into the yakkas
  17. nice catch there Nik! yellowtail sashimi are apparently really nice... some japanese restuarants are selling a yakka (approx 20cm) at $9 a dish!! i cant bring myself to ordering one
  18. I believe you Jembro Saw a few sharks outside botany heads as well. Huge schools of bonnies around at the moment.
