  1. Sorry this isnt my catch but would like to post it anyway. Dad went out last night to his usual spot in the bay and hooked up a few jews and whitings. He gave me these three for dinner. Never ate jew before so it will be my first.
  2. went out saturday morning and caught this thing on soft plastics. what is it?
  3. at first when I read this topic "Bream Eating Leather Jackets" I thought that "Leather Jackets are eating bream" did you take a photo of the autopsy?

  5. Vietnamese Steamed Silver Perch is one of my favourite Dishes. You can use a steam cooker to cook it. Today I used the oven to cook mine. This is how you do it... its very very simple... Ingredients required; 1 Silver Perch (gutted and cleaned) Shallots (cut thinly) Ginger (cut thinly) Approx 4~5 table spoons of Olive Oil Soy Sauce Steps 1. Preheat oven to approx 200 degrees 2. Place Silver Perch in baking dish 3. Cover it with foil, this helps retain moisture when bake in oven. 4. Place baking dish into oven. Should take 20~25 mins to cook. Remove baking dish. 5. Heat Olive oil at high heat. Ensure that oil is hot. 6. Fry ginger in Olive oil, it should only take less than a minute to cook. 7. pour oil with ginger over Silver Perch 8. Garnish with Shallots 9. Pour soy sauce over Silver Perch. 10. Enjoy it with a bowl of steamed white rice.
  6. Not much of a report but just to share... Went ou to botany bay this morning for a 4 hour session. 9. they are really good for sashimi. dip the bones into flour, salt & pepper and deep fry it so you get a biscuit. mmmmm....
  10. Can you enlarge that picture? cant quite see you standing there... awesome catch mate! Nice read too!
  11. I am getting the Symetre in the 4000 model. very nice reel and value for money. Saros has an extra bearing and weighs a tiny less. they both have the same Retrieve per crank 94cms. for a little extra money I would go for the Saros. The Saros also has the Paladin Gear durability enhancement which retains their smoothness much longer and more durable. But then again all shimanos reels have a 10 year warranty.
  12. CONGRATULATIONS! you hooked a Jew now your gonna be hooked for life. do those gloves come in another color?

  19. AWESOME CATCH! on light gear as well! must of been exciting!
  20. Hi snag thanks for the info. Just so I know, can you please confirm that; if I catch a Carp, the best thing for the water system is to kill them (but dont leave them on the bank to rot)? If I dont want to kill them is that ok? anyway i was down there yesterday and bumped into Rizzo. I kinda knew it was him as he matched the picture in the post. and the goldish fishing rod also gave it away. Wasnt 100% sure. Was only there for fun and a chat with my brother (white hat). Nice meeting you Rizzo, saw the small bass you hooked when I arrived. Did you have any better succes last night? cheers, Kerry

  23. Hi Raiders, Hope you can help me. Looking for a good charter that can show us how to catch King fish and perhaps Snapper and also keep a few for dinner (celebrations). price range $100~$150 per person would be good. a boat that can accomodate 6~8 people? Maybe 10 even. cheers, Kez
  24. I fished there on the saturday night 27th-sept (first time) Everyone that night caught nothing. I guess it had to do something with the glowing phytoplankton... (i think thats similiar to the name) anyways I was bottom bashing and caught 3 catfish and 2 eels which were released. had one good run but got busted. It was 1 feet of swells with 25kph winds which gave extra power to the swells. My feet were wet and thats about it. The rock platforms there are really flat with some slippery areas so be careful. Good luck
  25. NICE REPORT JITTERBUG! 20 bass caught and all released. That is a top angler. roo's, snakes, swans, platypus, eagles! I can imagine the experience you must of had. Thats Australian nature at its best! Well done!
