  1. Anjela Katerns was filling in for the Morning show on Saturday. on 702 Scott Levi does the big fish from 5 to 6am was started by Bonita Brown who is on maternity leave Between the adds Hi Tide had more content but it went for 3 hours 4 to 7am on both saturday and sunday so even with the sales pitches and self fulfilling fishing reports between that there was some good content. Very sad to see it go as I have litened to them both every weekend (big fish recorded on Podcast)
  2. Nice tally there Bob. It can turn nasty pretty quick there south of Eden and its a fair treck with a swell and a southerly change back from Disaster bay.
  3. I always give the rod and reel a minimum of a light spray with the hose and let it dry and give it a spray with Inox. On heavier outings they get the soapy wash as well. The advertising pictures on the Daiwa site show them giving them a hose so I assume its not like a hilux be rolled off a cliff
  4. Good luck Byron. Hope all goes well with the Operation . See you back online soon
  5. What a top fish , Congratulations
  6. Sweet, glad to hear all went well.
  7. Hi Mike, Drumoyne is Ok if you get there before day break on weekends and am home by lunch, it normally is busy on weekends, worse on Sunday, I normally fish through the week and its fine then. I Agree Hawthorne canal is a pain at low tide and have not used it in years.
  8. I was reading somwhere the other day that the bush fire brigades use out of date ones for execises. I also have a pack sitting in my shed I need to dispose of so I need to chase it up.
  9. Hi Mike, Its a pretty straight forward exercise, as stated by the other raiders. Mount the pump at the lowest point. Run the hose with the minimum bends and length to either a skin fitting through the side or over the gunwhale. Depending on whether the unit has an integrated float as to what the wiring will be like, or if its just a manual setup. I don't know if your tinny has a floor or not? but having an automatic setup will mean pump will be on before your ankles start getting wet. Most pumps from my experience if of US origins are rated in US Gallon not imperial which is 3.8litres not 4.5litres. I am down the coast this week but will be back sunday, if you would like, I could come and have a look and give you my ideas, as you are in Leichhardt also. I'm in Catherine Street.
  10. Fished with my cousin south of Eden Sunday morning. Fishing was hard with a lot of undersized flatties, Butchers P***ks,etc. Took 2 hours for me to open my account with a keeper. The wind turned a bit and the drift improved. Struck a patch of plate sized snapper and a bit of a run of good sized flatties. Weather turned a bit nasty so came home with a good feed.
  11. I use the sandwich bag method for my bottom bouncing gear 2 or 3 dropper rigs alreade tied per bag Same for my trout bait rigs A bit more tight if traveling a round from boat to boat
  12. 1 knot =1.852km/hr My 4.55 Quinny 60hp 4 stroke yammy does about 28knots fully loaded flat out, about 51km/h Rarely ever gets above 3/4 throttle 20knots and spends most of the time below that.
  13. I have a Bonzeback SMR753SSP 6'3" 1 piece 10-17lb 7-21g lure weight which I use in the boat for sambo's tailor and kings I have a certate 3500HD on it with 20lb braid . It may be a bit heavy for your needs though, maybe a SMR882SSP 7'4" 1 piece 8-12lb 3-10g lure. A lot of people would say for the money there is better value to be had.
  14. The SOL's are a nice reel you will be happy with that outfit. Been looking at a SOL 2500 for my Loomis DSR820S gotta come by a bit more walking around money though. Missus is off to Japan next month, not game to tell her how much i'd like to spend on a new reel, so I will have to get it here.
  15. I pulled the pin at 5.30am fair play to you for being persistant in this weather. I'm always wary of my rods hanging out of the rod holders while steaming along. The scotty's have a retainer, but as for the in hull ones I have a light lanyard that I clip on. Don't want to turn around and see or not see a saltiga combo behind. Thinking of putting a couple of stand up holders on the front of the bait board.
  16. Its all about getting out there and having a go you get better with practice. A bit of good company enhances the day as well. Every one who fishes has come home empty at one time or another. I try to make a point of coming home with a little bit more knowledge each time I venture out. Sounds like a good day out anyway. Looking outside I have just pulled the pin on todays outing

    3 Easy Ones

    Yes three from 3 , I concur.
  18. My bait catchin therapy is a little time alone on the wharf with a bucket of busted up chook pellets to berley up some contenders. A small hand spool 6lb line long shank 10 or 12 hook a bit of bread for the first then fresh yakka A bucket with an aerator. This works for me as well as a bit of slow down therapy 1/2 hour normally gets enough livies for a session. If slimies are about they are easier but wont last in the bucket. I can only say I have struggled with Sabiki jigs with not as much joy.
  19. I have to go to work in the morning, thought I would drop in on the way past for a look. Agree that on the merits of last year it is not worth paying for.
  20. I would be fairly confident you would be able to find them at the rosehill boatshow this weekend.
  21. Hi Hazza, Congrats on your first soft plastic Flatties. There are plenty of fish in the canal that will take a plastic. Flatties, bream, tailor, whiting have not had one of those big jumping mullet though. Also try around the mangroves back from Rodd point Keep up the good work.
  22. Trying to get the little bloke enthused about the whole fishing caper. Problem is like most little kids (4yo) they get bored easily if there is no action. So I have to be fairly certain something is going to happen when I drag him away from his toys to do something. The missus was out so I convinced him it would be a good Idea to head down to the canal and throw in a line. A little tailor A Toad because he could see it and wanted to catch it At which point he decided he was hungry and wanted to go home. A half hour investment in getting a new fishing mate , it was fun to see a bit of excitment while his attention held.
  23. My understanding is that at this point it is still only a recommendation to have an EPIRB on boats under 8m going more than 2nm offshore. But have been hearing murmurs that there are changes being lobbied to make it compulsory for all. Not a bad thing I thinks. Would like to know if I am misinformed though.
  24. Nice run of squid there, Good effort.
