  1. Yeah we found it to be similar Friday.
  2. I dont get out as much as i'd like these days. I only tend to venture out through the week as I cannot handle dealing with inconsiderate people who think its their god given right to make my life a misery. Generally I find most fishers afford each other the consideration of the situation. I have even stopped having a kayak fish in iron cove because it just becomes too hard and I don't need the grief from rowers and selfish dog owners. Sad but true Off to the pub to talk about fishing, may get out for a charter on saturday.
  3. I use a similar mix also, cleaned out the bait fridge put it through the mincer, squid yakkas slimys bonito some tuna oil chook pellets and froze in portion controlled packs sized for the burley cage.
  4. There are VHF's available with a remote head specifically for your app, I believe GME do one
  5. You truly are a Legend Jack Some lovely fish there, very jealous
  6. Nice work Gary, Nice feed a a bit of quality time with your girl
  7. The sunbeams are very good and appear reliable, quite expensive though. My parents and sister have them. I have a cheaper online shop offering that works OK Aldi have a unit that appears OK also , thats where i get my bags from

As well as going south you can fish outside of north head on the broken ground to pick up a feed of tiger flathead, also further north to leanards island or sound out the reefs off south head for a run of snapper. Can almost always get a feed even if the kings aren't about, personally would prefer a feed of flathead to a king anyday.
  10. I went and had a full day fly fishing and casting training course. It was good there was only myself and "Matcho" in the course. I am an awkward bugger It gave me a good insight into gear configuration and setup. Casting technique, it became obvious that a great deal of practice is required to become competant. All in all a good day was had and a lot of valuable lessons learnt.
  11. Yes I think that is the plan go have a class and use the trainers gear to get a feel for it. Hi Jewgaffer, I plan to go and do a day training course, to get a bit of a handle on the gear and the method. Hi Geoff, I appreciate the offer for assistance, going to have a look at a local fly fishing course to get a bit of a handle on the gear and the process. Thanks for the advice "abecedarian"
  12. Cheers Slinky Thanks for the tips, have not decided to part with the hard earned until I have adequately researched, so the items quoted were only the first recommendations I'd been given. Thanks Craig (Austwave)
  13. I am keen to have a go at fly fishing. Not done it before so dont want to spend thousands of hard earned to find that I am no good at it or dont like it. Looking at a bit for trout at lake lyell and around Iron Cove for bream flathead or whiting. and maybe at a pinch for salmon or tailor in the harbour. I understand there is no universal outfit But I have been looking at a 6wt setup. Reel:- Lamson Konic 2 Rod:- Nitro - Velocity 9' 6wt Sage - Launch 9' 6wt The little bit of instruction has been along the lines of good rod and line reasonable reel. To make sure the kit is not the reason for lack of success. Any feedback with pearls of wisdom would be greatly appreciated
  14. I know this is a late reply but Lake Lyell is not that far and a good (Cool)Camp and fish.
  15. Macs arent worth a cracker if you are in industrial engineering ( Electrical) not supported by any programming software I have come across. Great for a easy user interface for standard DTP aps though. On those grounds dont have a lot to do with interfacing with Macs, sorry of little help also
  16. I am quite partial to smoked fish, it makes a lot of fish I don't rate into quite tasty morsels. Trout especially, always take the smoker when I go to Lake Lyell on the off chance we catch some thing to put in it. Just the Stainless box type with the little metho burner, works a treat.
  17. I have a number of Victronox knives in various incarnations and they hold a good edge and arent going to break the bank. PS The company I work for is a food processor and we only use Victronox
  18. Yes it was a lovely weekend in Eden, I spent more time on the turps with my family than fishin. Except for a bit of time on the wharf to get some bait with the kids. Top Effort, Down off Mowary I assume?
  19. Were down at Eden For the weekend. Had the kids down the wharf catching bait this morning. Hope to get out a couple of times for a fish in between family drinks.
  20. This is one of the best descriptions of the colours on Michael Mcfadyens Dive site. http://www.michaelmcfadyenscuba.info/viewpage.php?page_id=273 PS, Mods if this link is not allowed please remove, not attempting to break the rules.
  21. Excellent to see you are well on the way to recovery Donna. Thanks to to Stewy and the Paramedics for keeping you with us.
  22. Love It, Top effort Gotta get my little bloke out, now we have a ramp I can launch solo
  23. Yakkas are pretty simple - burley up with some chook pellets or bread soaked in water they will generally turn up in a few minutes. The squid are a bit different, can be found on any of the kelp beds around the foreshores of the harbour. Try to have a few spots and if they are not at one move on to the next. Try Middle head, obelisk bay, inside of Dobroyd point.
  24. Nice run of squid there. Appears to be a few more bigger ones around at the moment. Have also had success with cheap pink Jigs
