Guys what's your opinion on Tailor for Jew bait? I've been trying and trying using all methods of Tailor baits including fillet, heads, strips and tail sections. I'm targeting Mullloway off the beach. Trouble is generally other bigger Tailor keep taking my baits. Has anyone out there managed to catch Jew on Tailor? I figure that's what the Jewies in my neck of the woods (southern sydney) are feeding on. Nath

Just wondering if any of you guys were up at Wanda beach last night. There were a few head lamps all the way up around the bend. I was further down the beach and didn't do any good. Bloody tailor keep stealing my Jew baits. Are you guys having the same trouble? Nath.

heheh! thanks for that slinky. Carp rods aye. Last time I was over there a bloke took me out to a pond. We fished that bad boy for 8 long hrs for 1 tench. Boring as batshit it was. Nath Ah stumpy, ironically that's how I met my mrs. Playing cricket over there. Funny stuff. and between you and me. England's not my first choice although if this Jewie doesn't come soon, giving the lot up is an option.

I've been having the same trouble but using tailor as bait. As soon as the bugger dies, the pickers eat the guts out. I know this because the other night I got the shits with them and reefed the line. I then proceded to pull in a foul hooked yaka. Work that out, throw out a 30cm talior - pull in a 15cm yellow tail???

Hi everyone, I know I ask alot of Jewie questions but you see I'm running out of time to catch my first. The Mrs is dragging me off to live in England for a while later this year and I figure there are a limited amount of full and new moons before it gets too cold to fish off the beach at night. Just thought I would run you through my rig again in the hope of a new idea that I could try. I use an Alvey with 12ft rod. 15kg main line, running sinker (weight depends on conditions) decent size swivel, 40kg leader about 50cm - 60cm down to an 8O hook. Sometimes I snell 2 hooks. I find a good Jew holding gutter where I've seen them taken before. Cast out just before dusk and fish into the night with a big hight on or after dark and a high barometer. I've tried numerous live and fresh baits (squid, tailor, yellowtail, mullet, fish heads) which I'm starting to realise may not be as important as everyone makes out based on my experience last Thurs night where a bloke rocked up next to me, borrowed a hook, threw out an old stinkin squid a bang 10kg Jew. Never fished the beach before. I would hate to think that if I do ever get that run, my tackle isn't up to speed. I do realise they are hard to get and I need to be patient but beleive me I have been putting in PLENTY of hrs. Any suggestions would be greatly apprciated thank you. Nathan.

Yeah nice fish mate, looks like I'm half way then. I've been trying off Wanda for nearly 2 years now. Last week I fished Mon, wed, thurs, and Fri night. Should have gone the extra night too. Spose you just need a bit of luck eventually. Nath.

Just wandering if any of you guys were at Cronulla beach last night. Jew fisherman (including myself) were armed with squid, shoulder to shoulder. Did you guys catch any? I had to move down the beach just to get a spot. Been the last 3 nights now and still not even a sniff. I'm just about at the end of my tether with these bloody silver beasts! Please tell me know one got any cause I'm starting to think it's me doing something wrong. Nath.

I've had my eye on this gutter for the last couple of days that I intend to fish for a Jewy one night next week. The gutter in question is maybe 5ft deep and only 10m max off the shoreline. It has an entry point and exit point both going out to sea. My question is, is the gutter too close to shore for a jew to enter? The other thing is, with all this rain about, is it good or bad for beach Jew? thak you Nath

Guys in the event of me actually catching my first Jew I would like to release it. I'm fishing off the beach so what is the best way to drag her up and handle her for a photo before release. By the gills? and will she have any deadly spikes to watch out for? Nath

G'day all, I've been trying to catch my first Jewie off Cronulla Beach for some time now and I'm really staring to think these fish are a myth. I have tried just about everything and have spent countless hrs on the beach at night. Even live squid won't temp these buggers. I have "heard" of people getting them off the beach but is there anyone out there who has actually caught one of these beauties? Just any help at all would be good for my confidence and self esteem. Hi guys can anyone tell me if it is possible to catch a Jewie off Broadbeach the Gold Coast? or has anyone heard of them been caught up there? any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated thanks. I am landbased.
