  1. hey alex i never fish west off the harbor bridge but we sound out the river from whalf road ermington all the way to the heads and often see fish holding at drop offs, here a few places that look the goods on the sounder northside of putny punt cast straight out[there's a drop off about 20 feet out] cast long and left [there's a big drop off] north side gladsville bridge[right side as your facing the water] gary
  2. hey outfisher,we came back in around 10.00am there were boats from north head to q point at least 20 no sign off any surface action we checked out bluefish to q point i would go for a troll from south head to bondi and work the stink pipe under hornaby light house havent been there for 4 weeks but thats were i would look gary
  3. hey raiders hit longy at 4.00am choppy 12kn northerly droped the pick in 28meters set the berly and floated salted slimmy fillets and salted bonito chunks no weight well it was about 20 mins till the first hit,run and stop. slimmy cat fish this could be a sign off things to come 3 dead logs[portjacksons]later and the bitter sweep show up i left 1 on a tether hoping to spark up some kings about 8.30am the little bream rod with 6lb goes off neil sets the hook and it keeps goind for a good 40 meters then stops dead i had already pulled the pick and was hot on its tail we had it under the boat in 28 meters and neil was having a hard time getting any line back in 2 meters up and 2 meters down after 15 mins off this the poor bugger said i just hope it has scales, well i did'nt say what i was thinking[big ray]i just said mate it's the best fight so far to day so take your time and enjoy it felt like a good hour before we had a big ass ray by the boat about 5 feet wide took a few pics and cut the big bugger loose well that was the highlight off the day all snapper were to small to keep and few and far between we headed back in and had some fun on the slimmys ,yakkas, treves they were holding very close in near old mans hat[half way from the hat to north head] headed home at 11.00am

  15. good report josh the harbor is a bit slow, got to love the slimmys on a shit day they are a little ray off sunshine and very entertaining it's reports like this one that give you little hints as to whats happening i'm trying for an arvo bash at longy tomorow i hope and the slimmys might come in handy live[i have frozen fillets]nothing like a quivering slimmy fillet so bad luck on the fishing josh but thanks for the heads up on the slimmys cherrs gary
  16. hey josh the harbor is pritty slow at present the water is cold and very clear from as low as 13.5 to 15 do'nt fish middle harbor so no help there but i usely start with a troll from south head to the stink pipe under hornaby light house ever since it went under 17 c the troll has been a waste off time[mind you we never tryed small cromes we been hitting longreef for snapper over the last 2 weeks with mixed results[we should be getting there at 4.00am but to lazy to get out of bed] for me tuesday looks the goods and i will be out there early gary
  17. you did your bit on the leathery cull your have to love slimmys lb for lb there one hell off a fight on light line and are one off my fav slab baits, snapper bait for ron gary
  18. some more info on the one peace hex rod the lable reads like this special sport supa cast made in lakemba nsw it has a pic off a smiling fish and is aprox 3.2 meters long i think it could be from around the 60 s also the finish seems to good for cane could it be timber gary
  19. braid was'nt invented when i used alveys but if your throwing big lead to reach snapper 5 times out of 10 you will snap the braid on casting you have to get it just right with mono and i still lost the odd one through over enthosium you also need the give off mono when a king hits and a hat to slow down the reel tailor and kings smash surface baits hard, kings fight dirty off the rocks and in 20 years off rock hopping i never landed a 1 meter plus king off the rocks but hooked many braid with a king off the rocks king wins every time mono at least you have a chance not a good one but the fight will last longer gary
  20. well done slinky no to easy to sell a home at this time there should be more kingys for every one next year mate i've moved interstate 3 times,do'nt take all the crap with you be ruthless,if you do'nt have a use for somthing with in 3 months do'nt take it good luck up north gary
  21. go girls sound like a great week roberta and the blue nose is a cracker i love blue nose bream just like a snapper when they hit and the thump thump makes me tingle all over gary
  22. hey aj i was thinking off hitting a little spot for some blackfish land based midweek i havent fished this spot for 10 years because it's a real bugger to get to are you a mountian goat do you have cleets how keen are you to fish the GAP this is not for the faint harted it can only be fished in a southerly swell and 1 to 1.5 is the max i gave it away because off age but would like a crack at the blacky record so could be convenced to go one more time any way have a think if you are a experianced rock hopper it will be all good however if you have a prob with hights and little time on the rocks we should forget it and maybe go out in the boat instead and way have a think gary
  23. taking the lad whail watching on sat may feed the albs for a few pics[i will be sneeking 2 rods on boad just in case there's some surface action] sunday hitting longy wide for some snapper at 3.00am good luck raiders and stay safe gary
