hey raiders hit south head for a troll at 7.00am thought we would go to the first point just to see if there were any sambo's about big swell and an hairy ride but good looking water just about to call it quits as there was no bait at all, then several low arcs called for neil to get off his bum and the red and white halco gets smashed short fight and a small bonito was boated yeha water temp was 17.4 and the bonys were back trolled to the stink pipe for 3 from 3 the swell was as big as i have ever trolled in so i made the call to head back huge seal at the stink pipe munging out on something neil drove back and we had 2 solid hookups on the way back both spat the hooks mmmmmmmm sambos i think but plenty off weight pulled the lures in at 8.45am and went for a drift for 2 flownder [returned] droped the pick at q point for 1 bango 1 shovel nose and to many little blerters and unfortunatly leather jackets can any body tell me if it is legal to use 3 sets of trebels on the lures and would this help to stop sambos spitting the lure if it is not legal any ideas we headed home at 12.00 gary

i was using 80lb mono leader and lost a few rigs we went 20lb s/s trace to the stinger and a short 20lb s/s leader tailor were the culprits the prob with this setup is it scars the kings off so i set 1 with s/s trace and 1 without if the mono gets smashed i repace it with s/s setup we use the tailor as live bait on the mono rig gary

good to see you pop the jew cherry slayer hard work and long hours does pay off but now you have to pay the price forever hooked on chasing jew lol well done mate gary

hey rick good to see you get a mate hooked up just as good as hooking up your self we went out sunday morn,had a ball on the smelly salmon short but sweet we couldent hook up on the lures but scored on the small poppers may have to hit the joey later in the week the tides look cool for thursday right through the week end gary

an old flatty hunter i know used stainless steel wire[welding wire] he put a hook at the bottom 1 half way up and one at the top he used to get a flatty on the bottom and 2 jacket on the uthers as mentioned above no smell of bait on the main line hope this helps gary

the place you seek is called the topido tubes used to be a landbased torpido station during second ww havent been there for 10 years there was a track to the right at the lighthouse parking area not a bad walk in about 45 mins but walking out is a bugger as it is all up hill as for a good place to fish yes fantastic about two weeks of the year unless you have googel earth and a live feed to see the currents up close i would look for an easyer place to fish as it's a long way for not much if there no on and it is packed when it is i would also give nat.parks a ring and see if you can still fish there as there are some very strange rules down at the bay and i've heard off nat.parks and the police enforcing the strange rules gary

every man needs a shed or a room with only i entry point a place to get away from reality and think fishy thoughts or if you are as lucky as me half the house was a buchers shop with a walk in freezer and a heap off room all seperate from the house mate the lounge room is not a good spot unless you wish to be single gary

rick the rod in half loaded and the tip twiching if that makes any sence to red on white is good on overcast days but we always start with these two notice the bite marks on the top hooks on the red and white all bonito hits we picked up a 785mm king on the uther one just outside south head the bonito we at the gap this was about 4 weeks ago when i fished the joey land based years ago the kings would run along the shore heading in and smash every thing on the way just on dark gary

hey rick,trolling speed should give you a good action on the lure we use lazer pro lures and troll at between 5kn to6kn with a 4 meter diving lure the front of the joey allways has tailor and the odd king at first light and late arvo hope you cash in gary

hey hoges here's my mix leftover bait prawns,pillys, squid,leftover live bait[yakkas] and fishframes mince the lot i mix in 20 ltr bucket the above minced about 1 quarter full 1 quarter cat food dry seafood mix 2 packets bread crums dry 1 ltr tuna oil mix with a 9 iron and pack in pvc tubes the size off my berly bombs and freeze we get about 10 tubes and a little for the live bait would recomend the mincer as you want the mix fine so there are no bits for an easy feed for the target fish we want the bait fish in a feeding frenzy as to atract the preditors if were using bonito as bait thats the main ingediance in the berly same with prawns with squid we mix the ink with the berly at the last moment gary

so much detail and all the little hints mate your a legend i have learnt more in 6months reading your posts than 15 years off rockhopping keep up the exellent reports gary

hey codfisho,i havent been there for 15 years back then the jetty was off limmits we used to fish next 2 headlands going south massive platform at moony[next beach south] and the head land at gostys small beach with a cave fish north point[2 beaches south from cathernhill] the mines used to control mooney beach acsess road and you had to walk to gostys i have no idea what is happening up there now if we got hasseled by mine personal [mate im half coory this is were we hunt and gather]usully made then run to the hills.just stick to the beach and you should be ok hope this helps pitty the info is 15 years old hope somone has more up to date info, for you gary

hey pel,rang the old man he put me on the right track fillet fish and lay on bed off salt more salt then a layer off fillets make shore it is covered in salt check every day change salt if it looks wet 3 days then remove fillet shake off salt and store havent worked out whether lid on or not why i'm salting is to fermup the fish like bonito havent done pillys gary
