  1. Yella Sub, Different containers for diferent flies. I have a little metal container I use when bass fishing as it holds a variety of styles and sizes without crushing them To store at home I use old video containers with foam glued in or small compartment containers from the $2.00 shops e.g. Go-Lo, reject shop etc Below are some other flies I have tied.
  2. "Becareful Mrs Swordfisherman you have no idea what youre messing with this stuff can be extremely addictive..... plus you will need some 'fuzzle'." Weiry, She would also need some dubbing, a picker, bobbins, thread, hackle, capes, pliers, wing burners, spinner, bodkin, some exotic furs, e.g. fox, mink, rabbit, kangaroo, dear, arctic fox, polar bear, plus some fish hair polafibre, marabou and flashabou and zanadoooo???......... My garage is full of stuff that I might one day use...... Cheers Trev

  8. Here we go again....., I am a sucker for fly swaps. I'll tie a variation on Pauls polafibre probably a poddie mullet profile. Good containers for larger salt water flies are old video containers. Glue in a strip of foam. Another suggestion is for each tier to put a tag on their flies with its name and who tied it and their email address to get a pattern sent out. Just print a single line with the info and push ove hook bend. Attached is an adapted tying instruction template that I have used in other swaps. Cheers Trev I agree with Alex, Can I suggest that we keep this swap to no more than 10 tiers! That means everyone ties 11 flies and gets 10 back as the swapmiester keeps two of each for his hassles. tying_instruction_template.doc

    Seasickness

There is an antiemetic we use at work called zofran. This stuff was originally designed for preventing the old technicolour yawn after pts were treated with chemo drugs. It has been used heaps for post op nausea and vomitting and it just simply stops you feeling sick. It is really fast acting and comes in either an injection, useless unless you have a hyperdermic or in little 4mg wafers that disolve under your tongue. It is an expensive drug but works a treat. Cheers Trev
  10. Guy's, Whiting are good to catch on SPs. I caught a 36cm one on a 3" hawg in watermelon. But if you really want to target them try the storm nipper I have done well with these in brisbane waters and environs but have caught very little with them in Sydney Cheers Trev

I play at 1:30 in the Arvo Then have a few beers to dull the pain. Sunday: I am filling in for Grade Cricket (they must be desperate) game starts at 12 MD then Sunday night I will find a quiet corner to have a few more and then collapse from exhaustion. I am too old and too overweight for all that running arround, but I love it. Good luck to all those wetting a line. And all the best for those waving the long wand at the socialon Sunday Cheers Trev

  16. I have just contacted Berkeley and they are putting out a new range of soft plastic for sharks The power dawg a soft plastic shaped like a poodle with real doggy scent but my favourite is of course wait for it . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The new Berkeley GULP PUSSY These lures are a real treat sorry I had to do it Cheers Trev
  17. Whilst this looks like a stitch up! Freshwater fisho's in years past used to use live frogs and live mice as bait for big cod. They would pinch the skin on the back of the mouse put the hook through and cast it out. The poor little rodent would try and swim arround until it was taken. I have heard stories off and on over the years that people had done the same with cats and dogs. It is just so cruel and wrong. I really hope we have progressed beyond that. Using live nippers, live worms, live squid, and live fish is one thing......but cats and dogs I just don't know perhaps we should just use fillets of pooch, or frozen cat as bait. Only kidding it is just too cruel Cheers Trev
  18. As Joe said AWSOME FISH Cheers Trev
  19. Shane Newcastle has a flyfishing club. I used to chat online with a couple of members and have done flyswaps with a few. Check out the info below Cheers Trev NEWCASTLE FLYRODDERS Contact: Mark Cafe, Newcastle, NSW. Email: davidq@turboweb.net.au Newcastle Flyrodders was formed by a small group of very enthusiastic fly fishermen from all walks of life. The club was formed with the idea of helping further the sport of flyfishing and creating a place where beginners and experts alike can gather to share their experiences and knowledge for the benefit of all. Club members fish more in saltwater (due to our geographic location) but generally can't wait for the next sweet water sojourn. The club actively encourages catch and release fishing but respects the rights of all members to keep legal fish for the table. The club also produces a monthly news letter with local fly fishing tactics, flies and recipes. Monthly meetings are held first Tuesday of each month at the Charlestown Bowling club Pacific Highway Charlestown. Start time is 7pm. Hope this post is not outside guidlines can one of the moderators let me know
  20. Agent X they are called Doctors. Have a look at the link to a previous thread on these. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/inde...?showtopic=7719 Cheers Trev
  21. Good point Adrian. I should have said the same. My dryer is earthed and all connections are insulated. The case has a clear back enabling easy vision of the motor inside the case. The case is sealed and needs to be unscrewed to access the motor and all connections are contained in this case. Your 100% right if you have any doubt at all about elctricity don't play with it. Cheers Trev
  22. Made mine with a microwave turntable motor. Got the motor from our old blown up microwave mounted to motor in an old suture box from work. runs off the mains superglued and screwed a piece of plastizote foam to the turntable attachment. The motor changes direction when ever stopped and started?? Don't know why that is maybe someone more electronically minded than me might know but works a treat. I use the same motor for rotating rods when drying finish just remove the turntable attachment and then have an empty film cartridge lined with foam that I stick the rod but into. Cheers Trev
  23. Matt, What an awsome effort mate. Two PB's in one trip. Can I ask what lure you were using ??? 3" BM in Watermelon perhaps? Cheers Trev

    Rust Problems

I am the same as Joe. Have a seperate compartment for used tackle have and have a strip of foam on side of boat for used lures to be stuck into. Rinse all in fresh when I get home never re-use bait hooks and always have a spare supply of trebles available incase they need changing. I gotta try this inox stuff though seems quite a few people seem to swear by it. Cheers Trev
  25. My usual fishing partner's brother was up from Melbourne to watch Wests win the Grand Final so gave em a ring to see if they wanted a quick fish at IC. They were arround in half an hour I got 3 rods ready loaded up a bag with SP and spare leader and headed to Iron Cove Left the long pants and jumper at home as it was bright sunshine and warm by the time we got to IC 5:50pm it was cold and blowing a gale Anyway within 20 minutes two flathead landed one arround 25cm the other one caught by my mates brother went 42cm. Fished till 8:00pm for another 2 small 30cm flathead and a chopper tailer. Had a couple of good runs without hookups but got too cold Succesful lures were a squidgie wriggler and 3" bass minnow. Might head down for another session on Monday. Cheers Trev
