  1. g'day dani just search "clifton gardens" or "clifton" in this forum.. you'll find heaps of post regarding your questions
  2. It sure did Roberta.. Caught this salmon on a 3" bass minnow this morning. Thanks Rob for getting the fish for me. I'll start bringing my net again. Well done on that trev mate !!! I'll be seeing more of you as the water warms up
  3. Hi Darryl, Hhahah 2nd hand is not that expensive mate. I rang up Gary and he said only Daiwa will service those reels.. it costs about $20-40 but it will take 2weeks at least !!!
  4. Hi all, I recently bought a 2nd hand daiwa exist 2508 that needs some TLC. Can anyone give me any good contacts where I can get it repaired in the Sydney area ?. I'm trying to avoid going to Daiwa in brookvale. The previous owner have opened the reel up (shown from the marks from the screws) but I don't think he's done a good job at putting it back together. Cheers.
  5. You don't cook it... fresh sashimi with wasabi and soy sauce should do... hehe or if you're not a fan of raw fish. cut it into cutlets and marinade with salt and pepper and lemon... shallow fry it and it should taste good. Cheers
  6. huh. ?? Why is that ? I used to use shimano, then a friend introduced me to a wonderful world of Daiwa. better drag, bail-arm, construction-wise...
  7. I was the one in the red vest netting the fish... My mate's trev went 50cm. I did land a 64cm rat earlier in the morning, there was a bigger one following when I reel it in... that one would've been 70-75cm. I'm surprised that they're still around, a few years back the rats are long gone by mid April... is it global warming or just that the fishing in the harbour is getting better ?? I'm heading out again in 1/2 hrs time...
  8. Looks like a nice bag there guys. Were you on that boat loitering around Clifton around 6-7am ish.. with a tohatsu outboard ?
  9. Reminds me of my session few years back... That place can be really thick with tailors.... good fun on light gear.
  10. You've probably left the drag tightened for too long causing it to have some flat spots on the drag. Taking the spool apart shouldn't be that difficult... If all else fail just bring it down to Shimano Australia, they'll fix it up for you for a fee. Or even better send it to Jack Erskine, for his famous carbontex drag upgrade. I can PM you his details if you like.
  11. Was bored at work and googled "fishing game" got me on to this site http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor3/gam...shing/game.html
  12. I've fished Thompson's Creek Dam or TCD 2 years ago. It's a lot of hardwork for 1-2 fish a day.
  13. What's the Australian Price Greg ? that is getting it through Daiwa Australia so you can claim the warranty locally.
  14. The Branzino looks like a sexy lookin reel Greg. it'll cost a BOMB if it ever sold in Australia I'm interested in the "certate hyper". Saltiga gears in a certate housings. http://www.plat.co.jp/english/daiwa/salt_r...rtate_hyper.htm
  15. Good job there guys. Was there this morning with Marcus... Things were pretty quiet. Only managed a lone stinky pike on the SPs
  16. I personally wouldn't eat breams or flatheads from the harbour. Breams have to be 10years or older to be on the legal size. Flatheads live at the bottom where all the heavy metals are deposited. I'll eat bonitos, trevallies or kings if I decide to keep them. The pelagics are IMHO safe from the pollution because they don't stay in the harbour long enough to be contaminated.
  17. Not much luck with metals this year. 3" bass minnows on 1/16th jighead have been doing well for me.
  18. a 6'8 rod will do. The fish hangs around the wharf so there's no need to cast far.
  19. Good job Rob. Marcus !! hey hey look who's posting, didn't see you at CG last week. Kings are still around there, got busted twice last Thursday both fish decided to swim into the pylons. The trevs are also back.
  20. How big are the fingerlings when they were released ? I caught a tiny jewie last week.. about 40cm.

Hi Greg, My brother uses RainX for his motorcycle helmet. Helps him with the FOG. You can probably get it at an auto shop
  23. You can try the gulp turtle backs although they might be a bit short to match those "long things"
  24. dano yours looks like an amberjack sambo yours is a samson.
  25. for around $500 you can get a certate. Can't go wrong with this reel, as a few other raiders have suggested. Light enough for bream spinning, yet strong enough to land rat kings when you hook one. Bloody nice reel !! the smaller models gives you 4kg of drag, larger ones will give you 7kg. that's more than enough drag for most fish you catch in Sydney. Nice drag sound too !! one of the loudest around. The Daiwa airity is also good, for around $400, this reel use to sell for 700 bucks ! its a touch lighter than the certate. Below that comes the luvias, which is still reasonably good. Used shimano stradics before changing over to daiwas and never looked back
