  1. I'm afraid it doesn't work that way mate you'll want to hook them for the rest of your life
  2. yep time to wake up at 4am and do a pre-work fish again
  3. Tide isn't looking good for clifton this week. Next week is looking good however.
  4. Not sure if kings like bream. But from a previous post I know YFT like em'
  5. we all remember our first time (with a king of course) mine was on a valentine's day morning 2002.
  6. Welcome to the site bro !!! Ali is my partner in crime at cliftons, there's a bird and corner named after him
  7. G'day fluoro, For tailor yes it is very possible. Done it many times underneath cpt cook bridge few years back(got a soapie as a bycatch too ). eventhough they're only little buggers the last time i was there it was still very fun with light 4lb gear. The lure was 15grms river2sea metals. It doesn't take long before the paints came off the lure but the tailors will still hit it. I guess they can hear the vibration of the lure. Not sure about other pelagics though, they're not as dumb as tailor

    What Is This

I heard that they're pretty good on the table.
  9. Hei Ronald, Next time you're planning to do some fishing at HC bay gimme a yell. I live around that area.
  10. so to answer you kingys. It really depends where you fishing, out on a boat, wharf, rocks ? Different rigs for different situations mate. You mentioned throwing out SPs, If you're going to cast all day long than a light rod/rig is the way to go as you'll get exhausted easily if you're using a heavy gear. Lighter line class will also give you further distance as the line diameter is smaller thus giving you less friction. Squidgie, I guess heavy leader is the way to go on the rocks, you'll probably have to rub some line against the rocks when landing the fish. Clifton kingies are often very fussy, and lighter leader will give you better hookup rates, but then again there are days when they'll just hit anything offered.
  11. I don't think the kings at clifton will sniff at the bait if your using 50lb leader. And squidgie, I've landed a few from the wharf with my 4lb fireline and more from the boat.
  12. Yeah I was there with my future this morning on the front left corner of the wharf. Maybe I was too impatient with the squids. Although I'm pretty sure that I got a hit from one of them early in the morning but got away. Kingrule, I always find rising tide in the morning works best especially if they're around 1.7-1.9m. Run out tide and afternoons always been crap for me anyway. But then I've had a "magical" session there in the afternoon
  13. Hastings river that's right ! hehe Thanks for that Joe much appreciated. Sounds like there's a lot of flatties up there.
  14. The tide seems to have some effect this week, last week the high tides were at 8-9ish this week is a lot later. Looks like things got better after I left anyway. Well done ! Squid was quite rare this morning as I didn't managed to get any
  15. Hi guys, I'm heading up to port macquarie this long weekend to pay marlin_dc a visit. I'll be towing my boat up there. Any ideas of good fishing area up there or around the area ? I only have a 3.8m boat so offshore is out bounds ... Any help will be much appreciated.
  16. What I use on my 4lb fireline is tie a bimini and do an improved albright on the 10lb fluorocarbon and simply tie a hook and cast an unweighted bait . I find you'll have better hookup rate when your using light leaders, but if they're not fussy then go ahead and up the leader to improve your landing rate
  17. Mate, wouldn't recommend you fishing at clifton gardens from a boat unless your looking for livebaits. no offense, but If you get too close the fishos at the wharf will not be happy. unless there's no one at the wharf of course, which is quite rare in summer time. There's plenty of yakkas at clifton, just burley them up a little and they'll come up.
  18. Well done KIT !! A double king in Clifton it's a mighty good effort.... I know I've lost a few of them Pity that none of them kings like my plastics this morning, although the trevally was good fun.
  19. They should put one at clifton gardens...
  20. Most probably will be there tomorrow morning for a pre-work fish.... Went there this morning for a solo trevally on bass minnows fished till 7.30am Hopefully tomorrow will be be better
  21. Mate I'm probably the worst out of you and Ali, but still better than my brother, the fact that none of you are around looks like I'm gonna have to do all the dirty work. Come down from the port and we shall re-live the good ol' days
  22. Thanks for the info fellas.. GEeezzz I didn't even know one of the wedding cakes collapse But I rarely fish the west one anyway. I use minced beef for my yakkas and very small hook on a handline. From previous years the yakkas are usually out as the sun rises. 10 cm and less is a perfect "KINGIE CANDY"
  23. Hi All, haven't post here for a while. Thinking of going out this saturday to the harbour for some king action. I used to get livebaits from rosebay or clifton gardens just wondering if they're arround at the moment ? I just haven't been out fishing in months now. Thanks in advance. Regards, Mario
  24. There should be a cap on the other side mate take that off, and screw the handle to it. Shouldn''t be that hard, got me puzzled the first time i tried to do that. Which way does the handle unscrew ??
