  1. Will you be using an electric motor mate? From my experience Bream prefer a much slower moving lure to Tailor, as slow as you can possibly get it with slight twitches every now and then. Tailor will tend to hit most speeds as you probably know they are pretty aggressive little buggers. As for Flathead as long as your lures are getting down and scooting along the bottom and occasionally hitting the bottom sending up puffs of sand your in with a chance aswell. Like i said thats just what has worked for me, as long as your in the right areas and your lures are swimming properly just mix it up till you start seeing results. Allen
  2. Hi Plastic Man, I used to use a similar setup to the pic in Peters reply on my first boat, but with an inflatable pool ring around the top to keep the bucket upright, the current would hit the outer walls of the bucket but inside was fairly protected from the current so the livies were always in good nick. we used a large chlorine bucket and would have twenty or more squid in there sometimes and never lost any due to the good exchange of water and protection from the current. we also drilled holes in the bottom and used it for berleying too. I dont think the berley bucket on the back of the boat would work too well underway as the water would drain away totally from the bucket, being at the back of the boat. Same principal as taking your bugs out and driving off if your hull fills with water. It would be okay for short distances though, i guess.
  3. Hi Mike, Thanks for the quick reply, Your right mate, I forgot to point out the obvious, that there will be some type of floatation under there as well that i will need to deal with. I have just contacted the boatyard where it was originally bought from as underfloor storage is an option when purchasing and building the boat, so Im just waiting to hear from them on where exactly is the best and safest location for it. before actually making any decisions. So im just wanting to know if there was anybody around that does these modifications (Penrith area hopefully) that I could take it to for a professional job. Allen
  4. Hi Guys, Im looking at putting in some underfloor storage on my boat, BUT Im not real confident of doing it myself. Does anybody know of anyone in the Penrith area that may be able to help? I have a 5.5metre aluminium boat with the standard ply/carpet flooring. The only objects below the floorline are the 110 litre fuel tank and Bilge pump. So im assuming there is plenty of room underneath to make something worthwhile. I mainly only want to get things like sleeping bags/clothes out of the way. or hopefully even one or two fish and a bag of ice that may not fit in the esky. If anybody can be of any assistance, it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Allen.
  5. Straight through the face mate, on the head end you will see a small circle shape right on the tip at the antennae end. Insert the hook through there and feed the body along as with other similar plastics. The HWS(hidden weight systems) jig heads are good with the prawns as they make them glide along and sink horizontally, like a natural live prawn would. Hope that helps. Allen
  6. Hi Gibo, So did you give it a try? or just spectating mate? The general areas are easily named by most fishos but theres plenty of water out there, finding and hooking the fish is the fun part though isnt it.
  7. Gotta agree with Adrian, I have an upgraded Spheros/Tcurve combo and its great to jig with, nice and light too (bloody tiring work though). from memory I got mine for around $400 spooled that was a year or two ago aswell, so you'll probably do much better than that now if you shop around. Good luck with it mate. Allen
  8. Almost identical posts at the same time Iceman.. that was a bit creepy wasnt it?
  9. Have you tried the Hen and Chicken Bay area mate? I do quite well up there. Usual things to look out for, shorelines and weed beds, moorings etc. Nice and quiet place barely any other boat traffic. The flats across from the entrance to Homebush Bay are great too..
  10. Hi Guys, Thankyou all for the replies PM's and information posted. they have been a great help. G.T. thanks for the links mate, Jaycar definitely looks like they'll have something of use. I think they are the way to go.. thanks again. Stucatz Yes mate I had full storm covers and clears etc on the boat, they accessed the side of the boat on the trailer by unclipping the covers and luckily not by cutting through them. they had their work cut out for them climbing up and in so hopefully they fell out and hurt themselves on the way out. The electrified boat is pretty funny though, but I can just see the missuses look on her face when she finds me unconscious on the driveway one morning because ive forgotten about the boat being wired up to shock. Thanks again everyone. I know i cant fully guarantee protection from this kind of thing but any deterrent big or small helps. Cheers Allen
  11. Hey guys, Well as the title says, I had my boat broken into last night or early this morning sometime. Luckily though, I dont keep anything of any value such as sounders, Gps etc in there when stored. They did make quite a mess though looking for anything of value. I have not yet had a proper look to see what the damage was though as i had to return back to work. I remember a few threads on here of similar situations and remember some of you talking about a sensor alarm that can be set up in the boat and triggered when anyone enters and breaks the sensor beam. So if any of you guys out there know any thing about these gadgets, Or any other ideas that may help out, all info would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks guys Allen
  12. would love to see some photos mate (if possible), as this is something ive also thought about for my boat.. Cheers Allen
  13. I had to laugh at that last part Doug, good on ya mate.. Allen
  14. Hi Jewgaffer, I used to use a large chlorine bucket (40 litres maybe?) I drilled holes all around it, including plenty in the bottom, probably took about twenty minutes to drill a hundred or so holes the more holes the better. I then tied an inflateable pool ring/donut around the top to stop it from sinking and just tied it off to the side. once submerged up to the floaty it was fine and stayed upright but wouldnt be hard to add some weight to the bottom, the floaty would also stop it from tipping over in any current. It Also doubled as storage when in the boat and not being used. Ive also got one of those coarse fishing ringnets its about 7 feet long I use it now for overnighters so im not listening to the baitpump all night long.
  15. purple tinge, silver, whiting shape, large scales, small jew perhaps?
  16. Hey Guys, I have a two week OS holiday coming up in October with no real set itinery, Just cruise around and see where the holiday takes us pretty much. Over this time I am going to be squeezing in a couple of fishing charters. I was hoping some of you guys may have been before and might have some helpful info on the best way to go about doing this or who to go with etc. Details are: • Trip is in October, what would be worth having a shot at, this time of year. • two weeks in Bangkok and Koh Samui. • would prefer Daytime Charters, but if a night trip is worth it im also keen. • I would prefer gear supplied as I wont be taking any. • Not worried about prices as long as im not overcrowded and chasing fish on unsuitable gear. • Open to all types of suggestions on what fishing would be better, reef or bluewater etc.. thats all i can think of for now, will add more if need be. Any info or advice will be greatly appreciated Thanks Guys Allen
  17. The Captain is always watching you two. Miller and Metho-man. Apparently he doesnt like either of you, Word on the streets is, neither of you pull your weight on the boat, and the captain is sick of doing all the work! He also hasnt been out since your last trip together. its too hard finding a decent crew.. Over.. By the way Nice Cephs, I'll drop round this arvo and pick up a couple for dinner.
  18. Hi guys, Does anybody have an update on the situation at Tunks Park Ramp? Is it still useable? Was planning on using it this weekend. Allen.
  19. Excellent. Thanks Tumra..
  20. Just in regards to some questions raised by Cruzenvax in another thread about Epirbs, can anybody help me with a link to, or a list of required and recommended safety gear for boating. Both Inshore and Offshore for trailer boats. Thanks Guys Allen

    Live Bait Tank

If you are going to turn the pickup pipe to one side then you may aswell remove it all together. As the only time it will pump water through is at a stand still when the pump itself is fully submerged. You could also try the stainles L shaped bracket with the pickup coming of the bottom of that, then all you need to do is sit our pump on top of this via one or two screws. A lot stronger than the plastic brackets you have been using. pic attached..

How long is your leader mate? If theres a few wraps of leader around your spool when casting this will slow the cast as it fly's from the spool. hope that makes sense??
  23. Hi Hoges, I have 2 sets of those Wilson four X rod holders, the type that you mount to the bullbar of a 4wd. They are mounted either side of my boat along the side pockets on each side, I mounted them as far forward towards the helm end of the boat as i could, so as not to get in the way whilst fishing etc. Gets another 8 rods off the floor for you if you have pockets either side. They work well too, I carry anything from tiagras to bream gear in them and they stay upright with no jumping around at all, in any conditions. I also looked around and got the white ones so they match the colour of the boat. Hope that helps mate Allen

    What Are These?

Would make a great Live bait by the look of them.
  25. How'd you go Sean, any luck finding those jewels. With Jewfish bits and pieces all over the place at your house, I'm guessing you'll be placed on another fishing ban again mate.
