  1. Well done to all those with entries in last month. All would have been worthy winners. Unfortunately my PC was in destruction mode and I was unable to vote. Congrats to the Chef for taking it out. I must ask though - the photo of the 2 Taylors earlier in the month - WTF??? Good luck to all for Novembers FOTM. Cheers Mariner
  2. My neighbour found out her dog could hardly hear so she took it to the veterinarian. He found that the problem was hair in its ears. He cleaned both ears and the dog could hear fine. The vet then proceeded to tell the lady that if she wanted to keep this from recurring she should go to the store and get some "Nair" hair remover and rub it in the dog's ears once a month. The lady goes to the pharmacy and gets some "Nair" hair remover. At the register the chemist tells her, "If you're going to use this under your arms don't use deodorant for a few days." The lady says: "I'm not using it under my arms." The chemist says: "If you're using it on your legs don't shave for a couple of days." The lady says: "I'm not using it on my legs either; and if you must know, I'm using it on my schnauzer." The chemist says: "Stay off your bicycle for a week."

    Uh Oh!

Same as Slinky says - depending on what material the mandrel is would only be a minor concern The further two metals are apart on the galvanic series chart, the greater the potential current that can pass between them. Here's the link http://www.corrosionsource.com/handbook/galv_series.htm

OVER 60 POINTS : Others see you as someone they should 'handle with care.' You're seen as vain, self-centered, and who is extremely dominant.. Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don't always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you. 51 TO 60 POINTS : Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality; a natural leader, who's quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome, someone who will try anything once; someone who takes chances and enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company because of the excitement! you radiate. 41 TO 50 POINTS: Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding; someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out. 31 TO 40 POINTS: Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust In your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken. 21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would! really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then, usually decide against it. They think this reaction is caused partly by your careful nature. UNDER 21 POINTS: People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions & who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as a worrier who always sees problems that don't exist. So me people think you're boring. Only those who know you well know that you aren't.
  8. Some frightening National statistics for 2006 commercial catches of Albacore, Bigeye, Skipjack and Yellowfin. Albacore - 2,588 Metric Tonnes (Worldwide 102,346 Metric Tonnes) Bigeye - 511 Metric Tonnes (Worldwide 117,115 Metric Tonnes) Skipjack - Nil for 2005 & 2006 - last harvested in 2004 - (306 M T) - (Worldwide 1,538,792 Metric Tonnes) Yellowfin - 2,050 Metric tonnes (Worldwide 401,791 Metric Tonnes) That's more than 2.16 Million Metric Tonnes caught of these 4 species worldwide in 2006 alone!
  9. I just downloaded the AVG and then had it do a scan. 616 Errors it found and would fix only 20 for free. WTF?To fix any more I have to purchase the software. The errors are not major - shortcuts on the desktop without links, etc. I am running Norton 2009 and it seems to be limited in what it can detect and remove. Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool seems to be pretty good also. I really have no idea to be honest, my repairman does what's needed and he has loaded these programs on my PC.
  10. Go back a little, besides Penn there wasn't really much else 25 years ago. With my budget then, the TLD was the only option. As technology advances, so do the gimmicks, however the advent of the Beastmaster 2 speed would have certainly increased Shimano's market share. I swear by my 2 speed Beastmaster, after an hour or so into a fight it's nice to press the lower gear and get some relief to your muscles. Same as the gears on a bicycle. Having said that though, I have all TLD's except for 24Kg of which I have a Tiagra 50W. Cheers Mariner
  11. It's definately a contentious topic, but it could be likened to the pictures posted that have the background blacked out. Meaning that as a fisho, we go out prepared as best as we possibly can. Plan B is a must! Whether that be with an esky full of fresh / frozen bait that was purchased at the local bait / tackle store; or With a tackle box full of shiny, rattling, flexible, hard or soft body / plastic lures; or With a bait pump / trap / live bait catching device / rig, etc..... To purchase additional bait at the fishing grounds means that your not prepared adequately, and it's just not fishing in my opinion. It's like asking why was the background in your picture censored, and where did you catch that fish. The decision to proceed to the fishing grounds, from the bait grounds, ultimately lies with the fishos when they have decided that they have enough bait for the day. If the live / fresh bait is finished then apply plan B. What would you do with the same scenario, but no other boats fishing near you? Anyway, that's my say Cheers Mariner
  12. That's not a "Tackle Hate" It's called envy lol ********************************** But back to tackle hates - when you cast a new metal lure and it's your best ever cast - at least gonna be 50 metres - then whoops - the bail arm closes and "twing". The lure goes in excess of the magic 50 metre mark, but with no line attached. Make it worse, it was the first cast with this new lure. I just hate that
  13. A monster indeed, hard to imagine that would fit on the dinner plate lol A diary entry for sure, read something like this; HUGE Well done.
  14. Great work there on the pictures. Looks to have been a great day had by all. Gotta love the kids faces, precious memories for the first time anglers. Should be more of it. Some big mothers there, that's for sure. Cheers Mariner
  15. Sweet it is!!! Short it is not!!! Very nice fish indeed, well done. Nothing like a large predator smashing a lure - that will stay with you forever. Cheers Mariner
  16. Hi Yarraone, Kingfishing involves no special art that you as a fisho wouldn't already of obtained. I'm certain that other members can answer the questions that I have not addressed. I have only ever jigged or used live yakkas when fishing for kings and have always had plenty of willing participants at the Peak. That said, kingies are not elusive as jews or marlin or other prized game fish. Get your marks right, a good fresh bait or appropriate jig, and if the kings are there they will happily devour your offerings. Time, patience and common sense prevails. With these few important attributes applied you will have no trouble filling your esky. Good Luck Cheers Mariner

  19. You guys definately have a problem!! Best you go off to the next meeting of "Tackle Hoarders Anonymous"
  20. Check against the trailer registration and serial number also. You could ask to see both the owners car and boat licence to verify that the same name is on the boat and trailer rego - not much help regarding emcumbrances but at least if all names are the same it should give piece of mind. How about asking the seller for his original Bill of Sale (receipt) from when he purchased the vesel. A few ideas that may help. Cheers Mariner
  21. Looks pretty smick! Love the gauges, very professional indeed. Mate that engine cover would make a great hat also Hope you enjoy the new beast and look forward to your reactions and comparisons over the 4 stroke. Cheers Carl
  22. It's got to be the lure that no matter how many times you "tune" it, it still wont swim true
  23. Used to use it as a kid also. Kraft Cheddar was the go, No such thing as sliced cheese then. Also used dough (Flour & water) and bread. The dough had to be pretty firm and had to be replaced quite frequently as it tended to absorb the salt water. Was great for garfish, mullet and bream. Cheers Mariner
