Hi Raiders , this is a reaally neat trick. Can you figure out how it works
1. Go to the below link , after reading each window click on the boy in the lower right hand window.
2. In the last window type your answer in the white box , there is no curser
3. Watch the paper in the boys hand , simply amazing
4. when finished , click File , Exit
and , no , I don't know how it is done. If anyone does , then perhaps you could share your knowledge

Roberta Tks for your comments, very good suggestion.
Over the years I have managed to collect a range of transformers that convert 240V to a lower voltage.
Will go through my pile of bits & pieces & see if I have one that converts from 240V to 12V , keeping in mind the 3A

Tks guys for all your feedback. All good points & noted
Mine is only an El Cheapo unit so no 240V outlet.
Product will be cold or perhaps in some cases frozen when placed inside. Plan to give the unit a help along by placing one of those ice bricks in the bottom

As many will know , David & i fish together on regular occusions.
When I saw his setup decided to do something similiar but with a slight difference as mine needs to be less portable , ie the box is either in the boat or garage .
The point to note is the plastic boxes sit vertical so a lot can be stored in a small place & still be easily accessable.

Recently purchased a small cooler fridge which plugs into the cig lighter socket.
The specification states power usage 3A. ( Assume that is per hour)
Concerned I may flatten the battery whilst drifting around / on the pick. It will be disconnected once off the water
The battery I have is marine , 3 years old , still in good condition & good readings on the hydrometer.
Approx 12" long , with the markings , 160 Minuits RC & 650 CCA , whatever that all means
Can anyone indicate what effect 3A will have on the battery charge. Perhaps a rough guess on how long it would take to flatten the battery.
Tks

Has any one come accross a product which I understand is known as chain mesh.
It is tubular netting , approx 40 - 50mm in diam , made from black nylon.
I'v seen it used as a sleve to cover anchor chain.
Due to the set up on my boat , thought it would be good to reduce the risk of chipping the paint on the boat when retreiving the anchor.
I know where to purchase in Melbourne but that it a bit far away , hoping to locate an outlet in the Sydney area

Now , just to confirm , Andy will be joining us on the Kingie social , I will drive , Andy can score a prize winning fish & ................. we need a net man , any suggestions
Well done guys , our prize for the day from BB was 1 , just keeper , flattie.

Joh The store your referring to is BIAS. Have checked their catelog & the largest rivot they carry in Aluminium can handle material 3/8" thick , cat. No. 1804
In stainless cat. No. 1815 can handle material up to 1/2" thick but be aware the standard handy man pop rivot gun struggles with S/S rivots so an industerial type is required & these cost around $40.00
Have you considered or is it an option to use S/S screws. They are about half the price of S/S rivots

some advise i have been given is :
-that you only need one if you have problems getting on the plane.
Your correct. Also, assist staying on the plane at lower speed. As mentioned , if you do not have a problem getting on the plane then not much point in spending the money.
As far as I am aware foils do not assist with top speed.
One aspect to keep in mind , there have been several horror stories around from boaters using the wing type foils as under certin conditions they can work in reverse , ie one side digs in & flips the boat on it's side.
If planning on adding a "foil" then purchase the one piece unit that extends from the rear of the cavation plate not the wings.
Hope this helps

Hi all ,
I will be going South to Jervis Bay over the Xmas period. Would any of you fisho`s know if there is a boat ramp at Honeymoon Bay ?
Thankyou in advance.
Aron If not aware there is a M.P. in J.B. This may be of interest as I guess Fisheries will be patrolling during Xmas

Lewis I fish the bay in similar conditions last Saturday , chop was running 1 - 1.5 mt. Unless you have a canopy or some cover it can be a very wet trip.
Don't wish to be negative but it is a long way to come to get a wet tail
An alternative , launch at Oatley & fish the Georges River

Rob I'll supply the snags - 10kg's be enough? let me know if you need more.
Ben
Rob Mottyman & I would like to contribute but not sure what. Is it possible ( practical ) to place a post under the other Kingfish Social heading which has the attendees with a " shopping list ".
From reading through the 5 pages of posts thus far it appears the sausages , rolls & drinks are covered.
Pop the list up & we can advise our contribuation.
Tks

Spinking This site may be of interest , it shows the JB marine park fish , no fish zones.

Yep , considering the conditions we had a good day. It must have been Chrissy shopping or functions for most as there were only 6 - 8 trailers at Cooks ramp. Perhaps the weather did not help
Left the river entrance into a solid 25 knot southerley & one metre waves. Wound the Yammie up to 25 k's & once on the plane had a reasonable run to the hot water outlet
Here are the pic's
Daves Shark. Any one like to advise what it is , had no teeth if that helps
A nice flattie

Howdy all,
Been looking at a few boats lately, and must say I'm in love with the Quintrex 480 runabout, I imagine something like this would have NO worries getting outside and once kitted up providing a good days fishing out there, but my question really is, if I go second hand what is the smallest I should look at in a runabout to be able to head outside? I've seen a few nice 460 and 455 size boats I could afford but just want to make sure I don't buy something that's not going to be able to cope out there.
Size is certanly an aspect & there are a lot of boats in the 4.6mt range go out on good days. It is not so much the size of the boat but the weather conditions on the day , the condition , reliability of the motor & the experienc of the skipper.
The best boat in the wrong conditions ,

I was wondering the same thing as I have had my boat a short time now and I was having it tiilted up, but when I went to start it I had difficulties at times(it is a old motor, but purrs beuatifully) but I now leave it down and find it starts easier. Not knowing alot about boat motors myself and learning quickly, should you run the last of the fuel out of the engine by disconnecting the fuel line before storing even if your next trip is only a week away?
What about the lay of the gearbox oil with it tilted up?Will it effect anything?
Suffo , Is it a 2s or 4s. If 2s do not run the fuel dry as the protective oil coating on the cylinder walls it removed causing premature ware
If storing the motor for a long period , say 4 months or more then it may be wise to drain the carby via the drain screw at the base of the bowl
Gearbox , can be stored in any position as the whole chamber is full , or at least up to the "Oil Fill" screw hole.

For me the outboard manufacturers battling it out makes for better product and sharper prices. So let them haggle it out
This is sound logic however , the other aspect can be , the larger the product range the lower the production runs & this could hold prices higher so if companies like Yammie make both 4s & 2s then their actual product range is double.
The counter argument to that is , that if an outboard company only produce either 2s or 4s then it is fair to say their overall sales would be lower than producing both.
Catch 22
Back to the topic , I think there will be rationalation over the next 5 - 10 years partly for the reasons mentioned above. Also , I think the long term reliabilty & maintance cost of 4s is still to be proven.
How many of us drive our cars at 3500rpm - 5000rpm for long periods of time
If we go back into the the early 90's Honda found a nich in the market with their 4s motors. Perhaps others passed this off as a passing fad but as the interest grew in 4s companies like Yamaha had to make a decission , " if we can't beat them , let's join them "
In other words , I suspect the 2s manufacturs were pushed into 4s.
In reflection it may have been smarter to produce an "E Tec" style motor but that is now water under the bridge
Where it ends , only time will tell but think E Tec is on the right track , they only need to get their cost down so they are a competitive alternative to the standard 2s motor

There was some additional copy that came with the photo although they are not related.
Below is part of an artical written by Rick Reilly , a US magazine writer
He details his experiences when given the opportunity to fly in a F-14 Tomcat.
Geoff
The U.S. Navy invited me to try it. I was thrilled. I was pumped. I was toast! I should've known when they told me my pilot would be Chip (Biff) King of Fighter Squadron 213 at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach.
Whatever you're thinking a Top Gun named Chip (Biff) King looks like, triple it. He's about six-foot, tan, ice-blue eyes, wavy surfer hair, finger-crippling handshake -- the kind of man who wrestles dyspeptic alligators in his leisure time. If you see this man, run the other way. Fast.
Biff King was born to fly. His father, Jack King, was for years the voice of NASA missions. ("T-minus 15 seconds and counting ..." Remember?) Chip would charge neighborhood kids a quarter each to hear his dad. Jack would wake up from naps surrounded by nine-year-olds waiting for him to say, "We have a liftoff"
Biff was to fly me in an F-14D Tomcat, a ridiculously powerful $60 million weapon. I was worried about getting airsick, so the night before the flight I asked Biff if there was something I should eat the next morning.
"Bananas," he said.
"For the potassium?" I asked.
"No," Biff said, "because they taste about the same coming up as they do going down."
