  1. Hi All

I am re starting this simply because it needs to aired and it needs to be bought to the attention of the correct authorities .moderators do not need to step in on issues we need to band together and solve this matter as a large grope of fishos.I know of an incident last sunday at St George's basin when an elderly man78 with his two young grand children after waiting his turn was backing down the ramp a groop of jet skyer's arrived on the ramp he asked them to move so he could get the trailer in he was met with abuse and a of a bashing he moved back off the ramp while these no goods loaded there PWC.most had left when the old man managed to get the trailer in the water nearly an hour later his son who was in the boat had been watching what hat been going on when he learnt what was said to his father he managed to grab the one car remaining of the no goods and politly told them what he thought of them for picking on an un well old man they then decided to have a go at him they picked on the wrong guy .

1000% CORRECT it needs to be said.

    Quit shutting down reality!

No body's being rude, No body's being racist, nobodys inciting violence, its just a plain fact that certain groups create mischief and it affects everybody!

We need to look out for one another and those fleas on the outer have an opportunity to see the light and join the community!

Nobody CARES that your on a PWC, SERIOUSLY, go and enjoy yourself, but don't bother individuals and families.

    There, Ive said it now!

  4. don't know how true it is but today i heard that all bait shops or anyone selling bait is going to be hit with a $3000-00 licence to sell bait is it true

Apart from the usual money grab most likely by a government, what could possible be the rationale for such a scheme???

    Sounds fishy...

  5. We headed out to what was a perfect day out in the bay. Headed to Towra but that was so low to launch the boat, I throughout to myself if it's this low now, what about when it hits low tide. So We drove to Foreshore rd to launch there. When we got there the car park was just about full. Nobody launching so I quickly got the boat ready and launched, this time I remembered the bung plugs, did a whole check over, even my son ask me if the hole was covered, after that last outing. Everything went prefect, no dramas this time. We head to yarra bay or around there and started to fish. About 50 mins pass and nothing. I started to feel a bit sea sick but recovered, then my wife starts to feel a little bit as well but says she can still fish so we go looking for another spot. As were cruising we see a school of tailors we head towards them, my wife is so hypo and excited cause the stories I used to tell her about schools of fish when I used to rock fish and how good it was catching them, she couldn't believe how they come up like that, and then my son say he feels sick, and proceeds to berley overboard, I tell my wife that we can't say we need to go cause my son isn't well, she agrees and we start going back. Then I look over and my wife can't hack the smell of the vomit and she starts to vomit over board. I try not to inhale the smell but can't hack it and I donate my berley as well. I say to myself need to get back for the sake of my son and wife so I power on. My son is crying cause his stomach is hurting and my wife has her head over broad letting it all out. I feel really bad seeing them and my stomach is killing as well but we make it back, all of us dizzy and stomachs hurting. It's amazing how quick it goes away after being on the land though. We pack up and go home. Spewing that we missed those fish, 3 school we saw, not big but we could of got a feed. So u see it was almost a perfect day. No troubles with the boat this time, only us. But happy my family is ok now. Looking at my son playing with his toys, my wife having a nap, as I write this, puts a smile to my face.

Now i've got to go and clean the boat. Ahrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

And yes we did take seasick tablets, (need to get better ones next time)

And yes we did eat breakfast before we went.

Just need to harden the /^#* up I suppose.

    Next time raiders.

Dont worry about it. I got a mate, he gets sick as long as there is water under him! Im sure he chunders while on the toilet, he once got sick while we fished the moons in Georges River!

    :074:

Anyway, are you sure you and your family are cut out for boating???..

Only joking mate! :biggrin2: Hey the trick is to keep moving, on the troll you wont feel as sick as while bobbing up and down. If you tried travelcalm or some other type of tablets make sure they are the from a pharmacy at not the supermarket or servo, those ones are ginger based not chemical based.

Try easing them in slowly on calm days.

I hope your luck changes and you get to enjoy boating as a family.

    Cheers

  7. Yep, keep posting up spots and that's what happens. Wont be long before other spots are shut down because of idiots or the mess left behind along the coast....Certain groups love hearing about garbage left behind on the rocks to use as an excuse to lock up a spot, and councils get sick of complaints from rate payers - stay tuned for more lock outs.

Cliffy was in the gutter well before fishing forums became all the rage and people were posting fishing spots.

I used to fish there as a kid and it was a family spot. Kids would run around the warf while the oldies fished, entire families would fish and the regulars would know one another, new commers would be welcomed and shown the ropes.

The demise of fishing spots such as clifton gardens and those accessable to everybody isn't due to the fact people are posting reports or spots. Its a bigger issue than that. Its everywhere regardless of posts or not.

  8. Hey guys,

I'm planning a fishing trip for 5 days camping and I am tossing up between tuross and narooma. We have a boat and will be fishing the estuary with lures and soft plastics. Having never been to either area I am seeking ideas and maybe some inside knowledge on either place to target flathead and bream

    Regards

    Bigslick

If you base yourself in or close to Narooma you will be within 30 minutes drive from great waterways.

While your down there drive an extra 20 mins south and try Wallaga Lake. Its definitely worth a shot.

  9. Went past yesterday for a drive and noticed that there now is a gate locked at 9.30pm and opened at 6am. So if you do an all nighter you are stuck there. There is a gate opening fee of $88.00 with a potential wait of up to a hour. Granted that the council has upgraded the facilities there and they are looking after their investment but it's a sad step they have taken.

I'd say its to keep out the riff raff.

The keen fisho's will do an all nighter or trek in with their gear from the residential streets above.

The riff raff will come with their gear around 8 and make a whole lot of raquet, abuse, and leave the place in a pig stye by 3am. Not to mention the ones that just turn up full as a butchers dog after leaving the clubs.

Restrict the gate times, up the gate opening fee and reduce the bloody parking fee! So much for a great day out with the family. $23 to park and enjoy the harbour is daylight robbery!

  10. hi raiders, first fishing post after just readind post for a long time. sorry

After rock fishing for a long time, my wife and kids said its time to get a boat so they can come along and enjoy as well. This was the second time testing and 1st time fishing in it. First time was good, but yesterday all i had was trouble, trouble and more trouble. Its 12pm and we set out to Georges river national park for some fun.

mistake 1 we forgot to get fishing licence for my wife, AHRR!

mistake 2 then after i get boat ready i look in my wallet for my boat licence and its not in there! AHRRRR! so I pack the boat up and go home to get my licence and buy a year fishing licence for wife over the net.

This time we drive to taren point to launch but its to windy so we head to kyeemagh boat ramp. looks good only one boat launching so i get the boat ready and i launch it.

mistake 3 As I'm parking the trailer I remembered i forgot to put the bung plugs in. AHRRRRRRRRRR! I race over and can see the water at the back end of the boat filling up so I get the bung plug go over to the back of boat reach over put my arm almost my head in the water and lucky and find the plug hole. All of a sudden all these boats rock up easy at least 10 boats wanting to go home. Cause an new to this boat and new to boat fishing i wait thinking they go quickly. wrong, more boats just keep coming in, and i wait wait and wait.AHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! As im waiting i help some bloke who looks new to this as well, help him load his boat on his trailer. He tells me his motor died and the boat was filling with water and it was his mates boat he was borrowing, luckily a jet ski towed him in. Finally boat ramp goes empty enough for me to load boat on the trailer so i can drain the water out, man im surprised it didn't sink with so much water in it after watching it all come out. So now water all drained out i put in plugs and launch, its now 6.30pm

So we just ride around testing the boat and its not going fast its like the acceleration is not working. never mind we anchor down and start fishing behind bridge where we are covered from the wind. Drop burly bomb and fish for about hr. nothing so we go looking for another spot.

mistake 4 forget to lift burly bomb and heading of and boat stops. AHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! rope tied all around propeller. Im thinking im going to have to jump in the water to get this untied, not happy at stage. Then i remember tilt on the boat, so i tilt up get the knife and cut and untie rope from propeller. So we head off and start fishing. After its getting dark so we head back to boat ramp, but boat still going to slow for a 50hp something must be wrong. As we approaching ramp for some reason im resting my hand on acceleration lever and push it down harder then normal and what do you know boat picks up speed, so there nothing wrong with it after all. Turn around and go test it just reall qiuckly cause sun starting to go down. Only thing its a bit lat late to test it now

mistake 5 wife doesnt put rod in rod holder properly, and rod goes into the water. AHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

After testing motor for a while im happen with performance, only thing its a bit late to test fully and enjoy it. so we head back to an empty boat ramp and put boat back on trailer, and head off home.

So thats my day, so much #@^% happened but we got home safe and sound and a lot learnt. In a way I'm glade it happened all today because i wont forget it. As this was happening i was thinking rock fishing is so much more easier, I can go to any rock platform and know what im doing and catch great fish, but this this a all new ball game for me. I know in time i well learn just like rock fishing, but now i just need start again something new, and learn where all the fish are all over again.

I had to tell a guy to go get &^%$!* cause he was thinking he was king %$&^.

So if you see people not knowing what to do or taking longer give them a break, we all need to learn, everyone goes through it.

Have a good new year everyone.

    AHRRRRRRRRRRR!!! lol :074:

    Happy New General Zod

  11. Took it to a marine mechanic who said it's best not to replace it yourself as the spring can be dangerous.

Why didnt that bloke give you a quote or even a rough figure?

Anyway I got it done on my 25hp Merc a couple years ago as I was noticing some minor wear on the cord and wanted to be safe rather than sorry. I cant remember the exact figure but I got it done while getting a yearly service done so it was alot less than what Gazza has mentioned due to the fact they were working on the motor anyway but yeah, shouldnt be a big issue.

    Cheers

  12. I backed my boat over not one but nearly all the rods and reels I own, a Pflueger supreme survived the carnage, but my Saragosa 8000 is gone. My 1-3 and 2-4kg rods a done for, but my Twin Power reels are all fine.

Great way to start the new year.

  14. I am considering purchasing a 3 or 4 piece travel rod that can be fitted into luggage and taken on a plane (can you carry them on - I've had varying advice on this). Looking for something in the 6-7 foot range that will throw light weights for bream, trout, lizards, whiting and so on. Does any one have any suggestions?

  15. Hey raiders,

I'm doing a bit of SP fishing at the moment and am wondering whether i will need a loop to enhance the action of my SP? If so then what would be the best choice of loop/knot to use?

    Thanks, Tom

Forget all the nerd stuff, pretty much the only knot you will ever need to know up to about 40lb line will be the Uni-Knot. In the case of a jig head, hardbody, squid jig, tie a normal uni knot as u would and then pull it till it slides almost to the eye, then pull hard on the tag and lock it onto that position. It can still slide down to the hook/jig etc but it will need some major pressure to get there in which case you've either hooked a great fish or snagged and will most likely require a cut and retie anyway.

    Keep it simple!

  16. Im thinking about heading up to SWR for a couple of days, 3, 4 whatever...Early in the new year, Doing some fishing outside but inshore.

Does anyone know if anythings happening up that way at the moment?

Sydney and surrounds are having another late season it seems on the warm currents and pelagic fishing front, this time last year there was massive schools of rat kings all over Botany, im interested to hear whats happening further up the coast as it usually fires up there well before we get into the action.

    Cheers

  17. Make sure you understand the difference between a "Greenie" and a "Conservationist".

Many fisherman, hunters, farmers, etc are conservationists who care about the land they work or play on and do whats best for it and the life on it.

Greenies on the other hand only see things from there narrow minded visions and thus- The battles go on..

The fact that an animal is introduced does not make it a pest. Carp are a pest yes, trout on the other hand will only ever survive in particular areas and climates, in clean cool waters of which Australia has a VERY limited amount of, so trout- even if they flourished could never become a pest in the way carp has. You will never see fisherman being annoyed at the fact they they cant get their bait or lure past a big trout.

To be honest I'm baffled as to why this topic was even brought up, especially by one of the most trout loving/fly fishing members of all.

    Merry Christmas to all

Im going for a trout fish! (catch and release)
