  1. yep sure was mate and ended up scoring most fish in close in about 30mtrs.
  2. HI, Sorry for the late post. We fished out of belambi ramp early sunday morning for a decent feed of reds mowies and other mixed reefies. The reds were mainly around the kilo mark 40-43 cm and the biggest of the day was 5.66kg and 77cm. Had to work hard and move around a bit to find the fish but had a decent result in the end.
  3. cheers, have been on a few charters but this bloke was fair dinkum the best skipper by far. 27years experience apparently.
  4. was in byron for a week with my and decided a week was too long to go without wetting a line. i randomly selected a charter which was located at tweed heads. The day started well with a couple of yellow fin around the 5-6 kg mark. we then anchored and bottom bashed in various locations getting a mixed bag of reefies. the good thing was the skipper Peter would troll hardbodies in between spots and thats when the fun started..... it was mayham, all three rods screamin at the back of the boat..... after much dancing we managed to land three wahoo 12-15 and 25kg. all up a good value charter and a good day out.
  5. gday, last few trips out we caught a few reds off stanwell, not real big but good for the pan 35- 45cm. few pigs and mowies around also. try in 28 to 35 mt of water near the bridge of stanwell. hope this helps. pete.
  6. nice humpy.. i would trade my girlfriend for a fish like that..... p.s. please dont tell my wife.
  7. gday, sounds like you are lucky to be back on dry land. getting the rope stuck around the prop while anchored is pretty hairy not to mention dangerous. if conditions were bad we might have seen you on the 6 o clock news... thank god we didnt. i reckon the anchor is gone for good and pulling it using the boat is an art that you can only improve with practice. a large float or bouy on the anchor rope helps keep it visible and a little further from the prop. in reguards to improving your catch try a drift with a sea anchor (drouge) sounds like it might be the safer option until you get a little more experience with the anchor. cube up over a certain drift go back and drift it again and again cubing it each time. i find it works when the fish are hard to find. as for the fad... i think they took them out for repairs and dont know if they put em back yet ? mate be carefull out there thats the main thing. dont forget to log on with coast guard too, thats important. hope you get some. DTROJAN.
  8. next time i might even take you with me, the deckies on the last trip drank too much JD the night b4 and were barkin at the fish all day. haha.
  9. PILLIES GOT BOTH FISH.
  10. greetings all, First id like to say congrats to Andy z and damn am i jealous!! We headed out of bellambi at a lazy 9;30 am and tried a few spots off coledale in 15 to 25mtrs of water for a while but didnt seem to locate any reds so after gaffing a couple of half dead cuttle fish we headed out about four mile wider. conditions were pretty sloppy and due to the s/se we couldnt really anchor and establish a trail, so drifted for a while and picked up two squire 40 and 45 cm. and that was it back at the ramp by 14;00.\ and thanks to hodgey i think i may be able to show you a pic or two. ( hope this works)
  11. DOWN DEEP MAINLY BUT NOT TO HEAVY, JUST ENOUGH TO GET THEM DOWN AND KEEP THE TENSION. THERE IS A BIT OF SURGE AT THE RAMP ON THE WINDY DAYS BUT I HAVENT HAD ANY PROBS RECENTLY. MY TUB IS 22FT ALLOY BUT I TOW IT WITH A 4X4 NOW. USED TO USE A 06 COMMY AND NEARLY LOST IT A COUPLE OF TIMES AT BELLAMBI RAMP. HOPE THAT HELPS ADAM.
  12. will give it a go , am hopeless at pc stuff. been onto the raider site for yonks and just figured out how to post a report.... pretty damn poor i know considering i fish 3-4 times a week and could provide some helpfull info. thanks hodgey.
  13. GDAY RAIDERS, Left Belambi ramp about 10;30 am and headed north, wide of stanwell park. Fished in about 60mtres in great conditions. started slowly but ended up with 7 reds 40-55cm a couple of mowong, a few pig fish and of course several jackets. saw at least 4 large seals out there also. only negative for the day was that the crew got the reds and captain Trojan had to settle for the mowies. not a bad day out. back at the ramp by 17;00. sorry no pics, will work it out one day.
