  1. The Haines would run rings around the Quinny, especially on the bumpy days. You wont find many (if any) alloy boats than run better than a good glass boat in any conditions. I have one of the heaviest, strongest and very highly rated 6.6m alloy boats around that is an awesome machine, but on those 25knt+ extra choppy days i really wish my 4.75 Haines signature was 6.6m and i was out in that!
  2. Cracker red mate, good effort!! You were certainly rewarded for all your hard work. Its great to see an accurate size to weight ratio posted as quite a few lately have been more like a rough estimate. Nothing like the lie detector to keep us fisherman honest! Second place is just a mere formality considering the quality of that fish!!
  3. Hey Stan, heard some reports of some good jew being caught in the hawkesbury on s.p's earlier in the week. Definately worth a crack i reckon. pete.
  4. Another great day on the jew boys, well done. Am i little concerned that the lures used sound more like something you picked up at sexpo...... lol. They obviously do it for the jew though
  5. Thanks to all that voted. Was up against a couple of admirable catches with the solid lizard and the great barra on the silly string. Both catches that anyone would be proud of. The snapper was the biggest so far for me this season but not a pb by a longshot and I plan to better that mark in the coming months. Once again thanks again to all that voted and to Pure fishing for sponsoring this and providing such a great prize pack. thanks DTROJAN pete.
  6. Great session boys!! Awesome looking boofhead snapper too!!
  7. Hi Tony, Yeah i know what you mean. Most Trojans dont have the full cabin like this one. Its a rare boat and i have never seen another one like it. It is infact as it was built in the factory. Will give you a buzz if im in the area. Pete.
  8. We launched the boat at bellambi but we are about 8 miles from there.
  9. The depth i fish varies alot depending on conditions, current etc. I tend to move around alot in order to locate the fish. Today we scored fish in 34m and 48m.
  10. Hey Kefalapod Conditions were great, and midweek fishing is the best. The boat is definately mine though! ( or atleast 50% mine as i am married lol
  11. Gday all, Headed down south of sydney once again in search of some solid reds. Did actually find a few this time after some hard work. Was a perfect day weather wise and was nice to be back at the ramp by 11am for once. Ended up with 6 fish the biggest going 75cm and spot on 5kg and the rest making their way down the scale from there. All the fish were caught on bait. I think the biggest of the day is worthy of a catch of the month nomination, hence the pic of the keys. Dont know how to enter it any other way. cheers.
  12. I think i read that there will be 3 reef structures with a 200m gap between each one. Only time will tell.
  13. Hi, Have any raiders out there got an Evolution boat? Was after some feedback on what Evolution boat owners or anybody that has experienced one, thinks of them. Am tossing up between the Evo 500 cuddy, Haines Signature 493f or 502df and Haines hunter 495 profish. I all ready know that Haines boats are good because i have one but need to know more about the Evolution rigs. Any feedback is welcome, thanks. pete.
  14. Usually its something simple like the right bait, line and rig. Have found that bloodworms and nippers are the best bait for the river and use light line 6-8 lb with a long trace. (1m+)
  15. Nice couple of reds!! I got dusted a couple of times out there on my bottom basher, so i reckon theres some very solid fish about. Cant wait to get back out.
  16. Stan, Sea anchors work a treat and slow the drift down significantly. Pete.
  17. i find that small bits of steak on the hooks works a treat.
  18. Mate, i wish i could tell you something that would help, but seeing as i very rarely use s.p's and catch most of my fish on bait the only info that could maybe help is to try the lower reaches of the river, maybe around the como area on the run out tide. There is usually whiting cruising the area looking for a feed on the runout, maybe you can entice one on a s.p or blade?
  19. Gday, the geoges river is full of lumps, bumps and good holes all thru the system which would be worth a flick. If you dont have a sounder you could always try along the bushrock sandstone wall at picnic point and i guess around como bridge is always worth a go.
  20. Good effort. Nice bag of reds, pitty the larger models won this time. Hopefully you square things up with the big buggers next time.
  21. Well done mate. Looked awesome weather wise Even though the fish weren't fully co-operating you still got a great looking feed.
  22. Gday Tony, I havent really looked at the water temp, have been finding fish in different parts of the system on different tides. Dont usually burley and always try different depths until i locate the fish. Hope this helps.
  23. Gday Raiders, I have spent a few days here and there over the last 2 weeks looking for fish from around towra and up to as far as picnic point ( in the boat). I must admit i have been a little surprised with the quality and numbers of fish I have encountered. Last thursday a bagged a nice whiting( along with a good mixed bag of bream and whiting) around lugarno measuring 44cm and weighing in at 650gr. I was pretty surprised today when i snagged a slightly bigger specimen near Tom uglies Bridge coming in at 45cm and 780gr. As far as i know that is probably a pb for me( since i started keeping records) so i thought i should share it with you guys and gals.
