  9. Top night...!! really enjoyed it...! i went and bought some circle hooks today Mutu size 8/0! Thanks to Phil and Adam for the presentation...! and to Stewy and Donna for getting it all organised...!! was awesome to meet some raiders too... top night! not sure if this has been mentioned before or not, but reading all the posts on all the forums, it sounds like some of you raiders really know your stuff....! how about a workshop/seminar organised and run by raiders, to help us new fellas with our fishing... im a bit like Slinky, i have a disease of buying ridiculous amounts of fishing gear/reels/rods etc... i have about $7000 worth of gear, and i dont really know what im doing lol.. we could have beginners workshops with really basic things taught (rigging, different line classes, hook and swivel sizes, soft plastics etc...), and a more advanced class for the big boys (cubing/game fishing etc...) not sure about how Mr and Mrs Swordfishermen run things, but i personally wouldnt mind paying like an entry fee to attend either... just a thought... anyway, thanks again for last night... much appreciated!! Cheers, Kiro

  11. Hey Guys, Just a quick question... Does anyone know if any of the penn international big game reels are made in China?? I know Penn is now manufactured in China, but I was wondering if the international big game models are still being made in the USA?? thanks fellas Kiro
  12. thanks brother... i'll suss it out... u sound like you know your reels... will probably go with the tiagra then...i'll keep you posted though.. thanks again Dan... maybe we can chase some fin together given we'll be using the same reels lol! champion..! cheers mate
  13. Cheers brother.... that's a big help ay... one last question... wat do you think of the okuma titus gold 50?? it comes with lifetime warranty.. these reels any good?? and also the daiwa SLT range.. would you still recommend the tiagra over these two?? cheers mate
  14. Hey raiders... need your help... im expanding my horizons, and venturing into deeper waters, in search of bigger fish! all this browns mountain/tuna talk is driving me crazy... i need to get amongst it..! wat reels do u guys reckon are decent enough to pull in a nice fin, mako or any fish bigger than a bloody bream?? my eyes are either on a tiagra (which model do u reckon is enough??), or a penn international (once again, which model will suffice??)... any suggestions?? the cheaper the better (if my wife read this post/found out im thinking of buying a new reel, she'd kill me.. for those of you who know her, please dont tell).... any advice will be great... in peace, Kiro

    Stupid Mistake

Thanks heaps for all your help and suggestions guys... its much appreciated.... the support on this site is remarkable.!! I got the compression readings, and the bloke said it was 140 equal?? he said thats a good thing... i wouldnt have a clue what that means... the other motor (chrysler 30hp), the bloke said the bottom piston has problems... when i took it to him, i told him that when i was out with it, it kept bunny hopping on the water... it would go go go and then retreat, then go go again, then retreat (didnt retreat much, but still...) He said that because of the bottom piston, sometimes not enough fuel gets to the motor, thats why it retreats... it still starts and runs no problem, but it bunny hops from time to time... has what he said made any sense?? my problem is i dont know a thing about boats, or motors.... i just love fishing, and been fishing my whole life (land based)... and if having a boat is going to increase my chances of catching fish, then i have to have a boat! a few weeks ago, i bought a 4.5m sportsman craft.. beautiful looking boat... (i'll post some fotos soon).. once again, thats for all your help raiders... i'll keep yous posted when i get the boat back... in peace, Kiro

    Stupid Mistake

Hey raiders, I should probably be banned from this site for my stupidity... I took my boat out during the long weekend (i have a reconditioned johnson 50) and i have 2 22ltr fuel tanks... in the spare tank, i filled it with unleaded, AND FORGOT TO MIX IT WITH OIL... i was boating for about 1 1/2 hours from the tank with no oil... is my motor screwed???? i flushed it when i got home (added the oil then), and it started ok.. i left it running for a bit... how bad do u think i damaged it??? help!
  18. Top report brother..!! Freaken spewin.... but a top report!! Plenty more fish in the sea!! I LOVE THIS WEBSITE!! in peace, Kiro
  19. Thanks for all your replies raiders!! much appreciated.. yeh NZ is definately a fishing hotspot..! would recommended it to anyone.. our beloved sydney does alright though... bit harder to find the big ones, but they're there nonetheless..!! im heading up to hawks nest for the long weekend, and just bought a new sportsmancraft.. hopefully i'll be back with some good reports for everyone..! happy fishing raiders!! you guys all rock!! in peace, Kiro
  20. Hey fellow Raiders, As this is my first post, i want to start off by saying that YOU GUYS ROCK..! i been on this site for ages, reading every post and all the replies... so good to see everyone uniting and sharing their experiences and all the encouragement is phenomenal! (fishraider is now my homepage!!!) This report dates back to Dec 2007 (ignore the date on the pics.. wasnt set up correctly) in the bay of islands NZ. I took my wife and brother on a charter (Captain Bucko) for some king fishing...!! we started off gathering some slimy mackeral to put in the bait tank, then went out to about 40 metres of water, in hope of some Kingies... we dropped the slimies and waited... 5 mins in, we were all on! we had to put the rod between our legs and use out body weight to keep the rod from going in! (either the kingies were strong or we're a bunch of pantsies...) we managed to land a few john dory as well (awesome eating), and my wife pulled in a nice snapper..! we also cut up one of the kingies there and then, with some soy sauce and some wasabi! phenomenal! all in all, an awesome day... if anyone thinks of going to the bay, definately recommend Bucko! top bloke... enjoy the pics! In peace, Kiro some more pics... enjoy!
