g'day mike, i'll vouch for the sol too mate... beautiful reel... i agree with Slinky, heaps smooth reel...! i'd recommend getting a decent reel, and maybe a cheaper rod?! however, you can get a pretty decent rod for $160 that will do the job nicely... im sure Pete at Go Fish can sort you out.. good luck man... let us know what you end up with! cheers mate kiro

hey guys... went for a fish in botany with a fellow raider this morning.. launched the boat at 4am from cooks river, and went straight to molineaux point for some livies... after about 30 mins of those annoying mado's, we finally found the yakkas.. we left there with about 15 yakkas in the tank... this is where my report starts to suck... down rigged a yakka just off mollys point, nothing! sent down some pillies, nothing! squid, nothing! prawns, nothing! about 5 different kinds of plastics, nothing! poppers, nothing! tt blades, nothing! down rigged some more, nothing! yarra bay, nothing! bare island, nothing! watts reef, nothing! decided to try the east fad, nothing! (by nothing, i mean the bloody fad wasnt there..) trolled some little skirts in the hope of some striped tuna, nothing! down rigged another livie, nothing! just sent a livie down the bottom while anchored, nothing! tried the sand flats closer to shore for some flatties, nothing! tried every bloody rig you can think of, with different line classes, mono and braid, nothing! went home with..............NOTHING...! nothing, nothing, nothing... sorry for making you guys read this pathetic post... i was ashamed to call myself a fisho today... Jeff, it was great catching nothing with you today brother... the good company made up for it though..! thanks heaps mate... maybe next time, we can catch one of those tiny little annoying snapper?? or even some freaken seaweed?? cheers, kiro

Hey guys... looking for a fishfinder, and i have some questions.. what does 'dual beam' mean, and wat does 'dual frequency' mean?? which is more essential for me to have in a fishfinder?? and can somebody please explain in very simple terms what is meant by 200khz and 50khz? and also what is meant by the different angle degrees?? pretty much, can somebody please explain to me how these bloody things work? no idea... i just want to know where the fish are underneath me... thanks heaps fellas.. appreciate it.. kiro p.s - i dont go way offshore or anything like that.. and i'd need it for a kayak... if anyone has any recommendations, that'll be great!! cheers

Hey guys... Need some advice please.. cant afford a boat, so i'm looking at kayaks! i have my eyes on either the Mission kayak catch 390, the new viking Pro fish , or ocean kayak prowler elite 4.5... anyone have any of these or recommend any others?? enough room is important for me to store tackle, landed fish and live bait if possible... also would like a fish finder installed... not too fussed about putting a little motor on the back but would like the have the option if i wanted to at a later stage... any recommendations/advice would be greatly appreciated... cheers P.S not sure if this is the right section.. sorry mods kiro

G'day raiders... My name is Kiro, im 25 and live in glenwood (towards blacktown/hills district) in sydney. I been fishing most of my life, however i am the only fisho in the family.. so until i got my license, life sucked! Im married to a beautiful american gal for just over a year now... however this site is causing problems in my marriage lol Im a social worker, working with behavioural youth.. i have lived in sth africa and throughout asia as a missionary for some time, then moved to NZ working in a behavioural boarding school. Fished NZ alot during my stay there, and the fishing is just phenomenal! Nothing like landing a 17kg kingfish in the bay of islands! I love my fishing (like the majority of people reading this)... i've recently got into SP's and lures and absolutely love it!! i fish whenever i have the chance... I recently sold my boat, so now im restricted to landbased... if anyone ever wants some company fishing, boat or land, just flick me a pm! cheers raiders kiro

You guys should go for a fish with him!! his boat is even more impressive.. and all the gear hes got on there, a few tiagra's laying around just incase, some stellas on the side of the boat, all those electric reels etc.... and i come on with my penn senator!! i was embarrassed and didnt feel worthy of being there lol.. and all of his tackle, neatly arranged in tackle boxes and little round tubs, carefully marked with the sizes, weights etc... I was very impressed to say the least... top bloke, and very generous with all his gear... thanks for that session Bob, much appreciated mate! kiro
