Still a bit of slop left over early but it died off for a while and then came in a little harder. Trolled arong the joey for a hour right on sun up with a cd7 & 9, got a couple of pike. Then went over to Box Head to see if there was anything tucked in out of the wind, trolled cd's again, a couple of flies but nothing! Birds where around but not working on anytying I could see. Then went into Pittwater trolled the Pike around for a while around stokes pt then threw sp at a couple of yachts Then home, oh well

  6. I use an old 1000m line spool with a bolt through it and in a cordless drill for swapping line. Because of the big diameter it doesnt take long to do this. Just make sure you keep everything straight so there are no twists
  7. I will be out there early till about 9, probably around joey & lion but depending on what it is like I may poke into pittwater
  8. well the photo of the hole in the wall is Narooma, right side of the bar looking towards the sea. the lake must be close to wallaga lake

  10. Going out on a boat Sunday The Spirit of Tasmania down to Devonport......................down there for 2 weeks, then back into Melb and spend a week wandering home Probably no fishing at all
  11. Got on the water about 3pm and spent the night in Waratah Bay. got two showers of rain, a light one about 9.30 and a heavier one about 11. The boat might have looked like a party boat with a red, blue, green and purple light sticks. Got a little jew about 65 about 12.30, it took a squid bait under a purple light stick. For the next hairtail social I think we should fish for something else.....a couple of ideas come to mind Tasmanian Tiger Abonimibal Snowman Yehti I think we would have a better chance of catching one!!!! I usually try 2 or 3 times a year for hairtail so that is strike one.

    Streaker Boats

I fished on a 5.75 streaker at SWR this year. We were 3 up which was fine. Good boat, hull worked very well and very beamy for there length. The only critism was that we did cop one bit of water over the front trolling slow one day when the wind was 20 knots plus, the nose picked up some water and dumped it up the front. But I have seen a few boats do this (even a seafarer, i think it was a victory), some boats troll with a nose down attitude, usually when conditions are rough so of course everyone is right up the front and trolling into the wind
  22. Not the best forecast Sydney Closed Waters,Pittwater, Port Jackson and Botany Bay: Friday until midnight: Wind:S'ly 8/13 knots increasing to S/SE 18/23 knots late afternoon and evening. Waters:Slight, becoming choppy at times. Saturday: Wind:S/SE 13/18 knots. Waters:slight to choppy. Sunday Outlook: Wind: SE 10/20 knots Monday Outlook: Wind: VRB 10 knots.
  23. They have had some hairie experiences in Qld. They have caught hairies in the seaway on the gld coast and another lot has showed up in cairns, i ve gotter say slighty warmer places to fish?
  24. Well done BOb, my attempt.... I fished this morning as well. Started at west head to get a few baits, a couple of yakkas and a big slimy. Slow trolled a couple deep around west head first up.... the big slimy took about 20 minutes to get cut off behind the head ( I gather a bonny or chopper???) I fish the reel on ratchet only, it only clicked 3-4 times! Then pulled a couple of yakkas down to the basin, again another cut off behind the head, at least this one pulled a bit but no hook up. Had a couple of yakkas bit really bad with big bites on both sides (looked like the fish were having a go, grabbing the bait and lettting go when the ratchet came tight, even tried freespooling when they got hit to see if the fish came back but no good) It seemed to flatten out a bit more so ducked out to the joey to try the same, had a big squid grab one of the baits in close, so pulled it up and netted it (it is already been eaten tonight). So even though I turned a reel a couple of times no fish Home by 11
  25. Oh shit!!!!!!!! I cant believe I am going to do this, last year 5 trips and apart from a couple of touches that may (i stress may) have been a hairie, not one. But yes, I am in. Will launch from patonga and fish cowan somewhere. I am in an open tinny and I can tell it gets a little crisp, you can leave a block of pillies on the seat and they hardly defrost, you have to put them in the water to defrost. Patrick
