  1. Dave throw me a knife. I meant ..........? Get the first aid box please.
  2. A drift across the mouth of lane Cove River. also the moorings around Luna park. Bait IMO is a personal thing but a Barra Lure Red Head white body might not go astray. Balls Head + Blues Point. PS. If you have no luck with the fishing a scoop net I am sure will land you a feed of tennis balls and foot balls etc.
  3. I dont think I would drink the water.
  4. I use to trade a few bream for a schooner with the barman. He had nothing better to do so brought me out a schooner. He was amazed I used no sinker. Blood worms dug further up were the prime bait. Often caught a massive eel or two around there. Actually it was a can of Coke he traded. One day nearly mistaken a snake for an eel that took a liking to my bait.
  5. I thought those burley buckets were teasers for Marlin when trolling. Thats why we left them in the water. What did you do with the lids.
  6. All I can say is make the time. Do what is necessary. If the weather is crap for the boat adjust. Look outside the square. As others have said .......... Clean your boat, restock your tackle box, replace old line, make up some rigs. or just go down to a local land base spot you have wanted to try for and hour. Six pack of ginger beer and a bag of hot chips. BEE HAPPY.
  7. Good to see you found some legal size fish. Great looking whiting. YUM. Iron Cove is a interesting spot to fish. Always fish there but finding them ????. Also think about using single hooks on some of your lures.
  8. I think it is personal taste. Not sure if there is much difference. Most major/ recognised brands all perform well. ( IMO ) Probably might depend on what style of fishing you are doing and the makeup of your rod and real. Maybe your fishing skills as well. As one poster said he do`s not like fireline. Alot of people don`t but I love it for bream + whiting sessions...... But I do agree it takes getting use to. Knots are a problem. Also wears easily and you need to replace the knot at times. Technology is changing so fast that it is hard to keep upto date on what is new and works. Not sure if you can go bye what tournament fisho`s use. Are we as fisho`s getting too technical.
  9. If Liverpool Council is responsible They should be heavily find. But seeing they are part of the investigating team I doubt that will happen. As they have failed in the past to correct this issue nothing but a hefty find will change their attitude to the problem. I doubt the EPA will take that action as they will as always accept the reason given and move on. This was the case when it recently happened . Just talk to many of the locals in the area who did take the kids down there to play. They have been complaining for quite sometime. I hope I am wrong.
  10. Easter not too far away. Great to see you young guys out there fishing. Your parents must be very proud of you. Hope your catches get bigger every outing.
  11. Why not give the suburb where this dealer is. Also their work was faulty so there is a guarantee that go`s with it. I would contact the Distributor and complain to them about the work. Many distributors take a dim view on poor workmanship. It adds up to loss sales as buyers will look at other motors where service is excellent.
  12. Great feed of Fish there. What a great brekky you will have. It is good to see MSB on the water. They are not harrasing you. If you see the idiots that are on the water at night . One of them could easily spoil your outing big time. I am always happy for them to pay me a visit. Again a great catch there and hope your lovely daughter enjoyed her self. She is a little gem.
  13. A good ending to a bad day.. I am surprised you did not get any bites while swimming.
  14. Great Report. good to see you are taking advantage of the weather. Also being entertained with plenty of action. Highlight of your report was the fact you named where you fished. It is always good to know you are not at just your favourite spot. As stated in previous post With good info.
  15. Try the long work pants at the big variety stores. Around $15 made of cotton . Cheap with a couple of pockets. They are not good to work in but more suitable for fishing. Buy a bigger size to give you more room. They slip on and off easily. Bit like track pants. Same go`s with the shirts. Poor quality but great for fishing. Nothing beats a great straw hat. Look after it or buy a couple.
  16. It will be an interesting day at this Ramp NYE. With parking at a premium the campers that have taken up residence may find themselves in some hot water and subject to abuse. Upto 10 + campers over recent weeks have taken up residence and today it may come to a head as boaters try to find parking at this popular ramp. Tents have been erected on the grassy spots along with some interesting vans. In years gone bye they would have been booted out but the lack of fishing interest this season has seen the ramp very quiet. The campers have been very clean and tidy making sure they keep the place spotless and taking advantage of the garbage bin to leave the rubbish. The disability toilet is always open so that has been a bonus. Garbage is cleared each morning around 5am. Hope there is not too much trouble. This is a great place to catch live bait. Also some good bream + trevs mixed in.
  17. Great to see a fisho doing his homework before he fishes. It is a shame it did not pay off. JB I hope will reward you for your efforts. Mind the southerlies in the afternoon. Hope you fill the esky.
  18. After reading all the comments made by members I am more confused than when the question was put. The answer I came up with ........ Go fishing more often and don`t worry about what time of year it is. But......... If you have kept some type of diary you will notice this year has been quite unusually quiet this summer. Has it been the very hot days we have had which has put too much light in the water and fish have retreated to shelter. IMO night fishing is the only time to fish Summer. It also appears fisho`s are not adjusting to the change in climate and conditions. Perhaps chasing fish that are not on the bite. Are the schools of salmon killing off the food our fish like to feed on. There have been a couple of short periods of hot fishing that coincided with the moon and favourable weather patterns during the last six weeks. But I do agree the fishing in general has been a little quiet and a litlle bit of extra effort has been required. An example of this years fishing is the appearance of reasonable numbers of hairtail in the Hawksbury. Just some thought into why we are having a slow start .
  19. TOP effort. It is a great place to use lures and you are right it is a good place for beginners. Also experts. I bet you went and bought a few Zman lures that day. Fisherman are a good bunch of guys. Why do`s the government want to make it difficult for us. Those making the rules never have fished.
  20. You summed up your day perfectly. A pity you could not find quality fish. But you kept in touch with what is happening Hope you have better success next trip.
  21. Good to see you had a good day after a very slow start. There are plenty of spots to fish around Cockatoo Island and you can keep out of the wind. Gee it might be time to upgrade the motor. You do travel some distance in it. Hope you continue to have plenty of luck.
  22. You can not go wrong. Just make sure what you are painting is spotlessly clean. Give it a light sand as well. But in saying that I prefer to use those tins of hobby paint. IMO it is personal choice. The benefit of nail polish is what you stated it comes with a brush and simple to use. Those junk shops will often have some cheapies. Enjoy the fun repainting your lures. It is so relaxing.
  23. If you fish the southern end and its quiet/no action in the water there can be more to see/watch on the sand. Especially on the hot nights of summer.
  24. Good to see the tailor are back in good numbers. Been some time. Agree with others they are great fun. They use to school up around the Bombora at night. Also the Hot Water outlet. Enjoy the summer season and hope you catch that metre king.
  25. Hi Rookie. It is true you can travel around an hour to some good fishing in these dams catching huge catfish. To me these fish are like catching Sting Rays. You are not wrong about dodgy fishing gear or the extra huge cat fish. Too me again not fishing as it is the weight of the fish that you are fighting. I travelled to the PING river. It snakes its way through the country. In some places very wide others narrow. It opened into this huge lake /Dam. Bhumphon Dam I think they call it. There was also another wide area. There are many places along this river you can stop and cast a line. The area I am talking has a variety of good fighting fish of all sizes and a good change from the Catfish. It is a bit of an adventure. If you had the time and were living there for a long time you I fished the local area around where I live which is about one hour out of BKK and had fun with some 1kg fish that fought very hard. I used those coil feeders. They were plentiful. Another river is the CHI. Similar story to the Ping. In a different region.
