  1. Actually I am hoping to do what you said. I want to move to the Hinterland of QLD put up a Barn Yard Shed to store my Fish Gear. I have collected so much gear (just in case) that I rent a garage to store it all. Glad you found what you are looking for. Cheers, Bluebottle.
  2. You can drift across the mouth of Lane Cove river or off Cockatoo Island if the weather is a bit crook. A drift off the light house Just outside the heads down to Bondi is also an option. Sorry dont know the depth You can anchor off Ben Buckler and burley and catch a feed of trev`s if they are there. You can also fish Long Reef as another option but again where will be upto you. It has plenty of spots to fish. GOOD LUCK.
  3. What will happen this section will be closed off all together and No Access will be allowed anywhere. There is no need to fish that far out as there are plenty of other productive spots along there. A little bit of burley Will bring them around. Besides drummer, blackfish a good size trevalley can be caught from the ledges inside that bay.
  4. I bought a bigger boat and customised it to carry what I wanted. You will always out grow what you have. Check out what other raiders have done to carry their gear. Plenty of BRILLIANT ideas and pictures.
  5. My suggestion is this. Get yourself a set of draws/tallboy, a set of rod holder racks that you like, a set of 4 wheels, brackets and timber 2'' wide the length of the set of draws. Attach wheels to base of draws, brackets and timber to base of draws but not in front where draws open. Fit rod holder to sides. You are then ready to put rods around the chest draws and all your other gear in the draws. Read between the lines and use your imagination as to what I am trying to explain and what you can do with this set up. Customise it to your situation. The wheels on the base allows you to move it around. A little bit of carpentry is required.. Suggestion Two. Buy two sets of plastic draws and build a cabinet around them. Fit rod holders/racks to cabinet and dont forget the wheels on the base As above This is a brief explanation of what I am suggesting. Sorry NO pictures.
  6. Great story you are going to be very busy this summer taking the kids fishing. Hope you have mnay more days like this. Congratulations on taking them fishing on such a lousey day.
  7. Great catch. I don`t fancy eating fish from that section of the river. It also contains a lot of bream of good size in that bay. Enjoy the day.
  8. I ditto musty`s advice but what ever you do keep a diary of it. Each time you fish write down notes as you go of your catch besides all of the other details as mentioned. Don`t rely on your memory. As your diary builds up it will show patterns. It will tell you where to go on the day you wish to fish. As stated each spot has its own pattern. Also don`t be afraid to move around a little as the tide will sometime take the fish with them,ie Captain Cook bridge to Tom Ugly`s bridge to Bald Face Point. Some fisho`s do that with bream fishing. You might call it "Clock Fishing" Good luck.
  9. Good experience for next weekend. As one poster said the more you go the better it gets. That mens you will take home a feed next weekend. I stuck a note on my dash that said BUNGS to help!!!! me remember to put them in. Also used a spare one attached to the engine key of the boat. CHEERS BLUEBOTTLE.
  10. Hey Raiders. Just a reminder that this weekend could be a good time to prepare your boat for the new season. The opportunity to strip the boat down and check it out for any maintenance of the hull. Maybe fit a new switch panel with new wiring, upgrade your lights, install some much needed rod holders and railing. Dont forget the petrol tank. It might have sediment and maybe replace the fuel filter. Add a bait tank or install new seating with some storage compartments like what has been shown in recent weeks. Make out a list and ensure you have the tools and gear and mates to help you if required. Have not mentioned the trailer as that is for the week after.
  11. Good to hear you `ve got your P`s and not a bad start on your maiden voyage. Reversing is not that hard as long as you take it slowly I had a similar start to reversing a boat and that was what I learnt. Don`t worry about those waiting and try and speed it up. It wont work. Looking forward to hearing many more reports more often.
  12. You certainly had a great catch. Good to see the Hawks is fishing good. Fresh bait says it all I think you just urged a few more fisho`s out next week end. Yeah great weather.
  13. Any chance of tipping the fuel into your car. That was what I did when it was a bit old. It had a bit of oil in it but di d not harm the car. Not sure about todays car .
  14. Think about some heat shrink tube and extra solderer to strenghten the connections and protect from the harsh elements. If possible (just my opinion) cut a piece of ply out to use as a plate at the back where all the wiring is to go. Less holes and you can use bigger screws and reduces the chance of corrosion.
  15. Good luck getting past the swell and returning. Weather should be OK Remember the life jackets. Careful around that area as there is often the rogue wave or two. Hope you catch a good feed and will look for your report.
  16. Great spot thebreakwall at the ramp. You can catch a variety of fish Bobby corking IMO is best. Just be very careful using the rocks as they are dangerousto navigate. One slip and you get hurt. Worth the effort in any weather.
  17. It is a huge competition with heaps of very serious fisho`s in some very serious boats. Plenty of fun and laughter. Plenty of ideas on how to customise your boat can be found. If you have the time and geared to tow the boat go for it. With Bass now included YAK fishing will be interesting. Some great creeks and rivers to explore. To have a chance to win a prize and be competitive you need to be there a week earlier. A lot of water to sus out. Accommadation could be a bit tricky. Book early to get what you want.
  18. Good effort. Glad the jackets did not cause too much grief. Some good practise for the warmer months. Looks like you know a special spot to wet a bait.
  19. Great to hear you had a good day. The weather /wind was kind to you. You found your way around the harbour alright as well. The more often you go the easier it gets as you just automatically will know where to go and you also get very confident in yourself. Enjoy your fish.
  20. G`DAY PADDY. Rose bay is the best place to start as right on the door step. It is too late too go to the markets to buy your bait so I suggest a visit to the fish shop near Marrickville Town Hall and check out what they have in prawns, sardines, slimies. If the white bait is of any size buy a few of them. Fresh yakkas can be caught at Watson bay area. Like everyone has said Sow and Pigs, A drift or two around Rosebay and you could try around Shark Island and ditto to what all the others have said. When using bait when anchored use 00 sinkers or light as possible and float your bait in the burley. Looking forward to reading your big catch.
  21. Ditto to all the above. Also consider running your wiring through clear plastic tubing for that extra protection. Ensure all connections are soldered and sealed. Heat shrink is helpfull. Mark your wires to what they are connected to. Your local auto electrian can be very helpful.
  22. Take a bottle of CORIO RUM (do they still make it) and the thermal clothes. A variety of bait ( banana prawns pilly`s etc ) A mallet to bonk them on the head when you land one. Try and find a spot where there are not many boats and burley... I don`t believe you need a sinker and let the bait float down in the trail of the burley. If in an open tinny try and set uo a wind break with a tarp connected to two posts. Good luck and I hope you stay warm.
  23. Paddy. For peace of mind speak to your local mechanic for advice and reccomendation of where to take it for it to be done. That tyre place down the road from you might be able to help you on where to take it. The advice given by other raiders regarding DYO maintenance I ditto. I soaked my springs in linsead oil or similar. If mechanically minded I agree it is a simple task. Bearing Buddies are a must. You will no the difference after they are replaced.
  24. Thats a real dolphin fish. Reminds me of the ones caught around Lord Howe Is in the early 80`S
