  1. Report is a bit late but I headed out for a few hours after work on Tuesday arvo out the front of mansion point bay. Armed with Live Nippers, Live Poddy Mullet and some refrozen prawns that looked pretty rough. Anyway managed 3 flathead betweeen 40-50cm and a 34cm bream...all caught on....yep you guessed it the prawns.
  2. I will have to check the size of the hooks Im using, I might be getting the size wrong...although ive never lost so many in a single session before...some after a few minutes fight
  3. Looks like I will be giving circles a try. Any particular brand that you guys favour?
  4. Bugger..I have to pay more attention...Had it in my head that it was next saturday for some reason..... Will try again next time
  5. Fished Port Hacking yeaterday around the gymea/ Grays point area for 3 nice 45-50cm flatties using live nippers and worms and a large blackfish on a worm as well. Was frustrating as we must have dropped another 6 with pulled hooks. I was using 2/0 hooks for the nippers, might step up a size or two and see if it makes a differance.
  6. I had the same problem yesterday, although with bait, landed three 45-50cm flatties but must have dropped off about six with pulled hooks...was very frustrating. Thinking of trying larger hooks.
  7. Not sure what the place is called but all fish were on the little sandbar where you enter the eight knot zone near Lilli Pilli, on the national park side. Nippers were actually shop bought. It was dead high tide when I left so knew I wasnt going to be able to pump any.
  8. Finally managed to get back out on the hacking today, although slow the water is starting to warm up a bit and hopefully burning some of that slimy weed up (although my fave haunts were still full of it). Managed 3 whiting between 30-35cms and lost a nice flathead around the 60cm mark. The flatty was hooked in about 2ft of crystal clear water and was great to see it darting around before it managed to throw the hook. All Whiting were caught on live bloodworms and the flatty hooked on a live nipper.
  9. The Maritime boat on Port Hacking today was working overtime, must have seen it towing at least 4 differant boats. Must have been a lot of people on their 1st trip this spring out today!!
  10. On friday when i drifted over the dropoff onto the shallows there were huge clumps of it everywhere...some 10ft long and 3 ft wide....a bit more warm weather will burn it off i hope...but still looks like going to the dark side and trying wonnie/ georges for a while
  11. Never made it back out over the weekend...eneded up working...yeah I know...but gotta pay the bills... Yowie...fishing my normal haunts from Swallow Rock to Gymea....its full of that slimie weed...deep holes and shallow water is all full of it. I did manage some 30cm blackfish on prawns and a couple of just legal flounder which i threw back
  12. Well done....time to leave Port Hacking and give the bay a try I think.
  13. Sounds like a great idea...will be there...havent seen you in a long time mark...
  14. Thanks guys, will give it a crack shortly and let you know tonight how I go.
  15. After my 3rd straight day of donuts in the Port Hacking Ive decided tommorow im going to launch in the Wonnie and fish either there or in the Georges. Anybody got any tips on where to fish...flathead, whiting and bream are my main aims.
  16. Dont get too excited yet..they are PROPOSING new laws, they havent been approved yet.
  17. AFMA (Australian fisheries management authority) doubled the quota of Jack mackeral to 10600 tonnes last year. Gerry Geen owner of Seafish the company that has leased the MV Margiris also happens to sit on the AFMA board.
  18. If you want to try for some real sharks, try suspending your bait mid water or closer to the surface and try picking up either fresh mullet ( a fillet from each side and the frame/ head will give you 3 baits) from the local fish shop or even some tuna type fillets from the servo to use as bait.
  19. negative on the glue or tape....can you post a pic of where its leaking from?
  20. When you say a leaking injector, do you mean its leaking externally or internally into the engine. When it struggles to start does the engine turn over at a decent pace or its struggling to turn over?
  21. Not meaning to stir things dogtooth, but Id say she would top out at 120kg as well,,,blue sharks although super long in the water, dont carry any weight like most other sharks. Just checked some video of a 179kg we weighed many years ago and it would be half as big as that one again....not to say its not a nice shark..
  22. The fish have been hard work lately, been out a couple of times with barely even an undersize fish (until last friday ) at least your getting a feed mate
  23. Im jealous, been looking outside at the weather all day thinking how good it would be on the water...and you ended up with a feed as well...good day In my books..well done
  24. Unfortunately the only time Ive seen them used have been by people filling buckets with tiny undersize fish. :ranting2:
  25. Great story mate...bloody big goldfish too!!
