  5. Bit of a long shot but if anyone happened to find a brag mat on the road between Grays Point boat ramp and President avenue mine must have blown out of the boat on the way home from the ramp last night.
  6. had another quick go after work this arvo.....not much apart from a PB whiting....43cm..
  7. I ducked out this Arvo abut 3pm,launched at grays point ended up with 2 40cm flathead and 2 35cm whiting, all on live nippers.
  8. Thanks for that, been sitting here for the last hour wondering wether to head out for a fish after work, looks like I will be now if the weather doesnt change again!!
  9. Clean up all the EARTH wires, all the way back to the Battery.
  10. Have had no problems at all with the whiting around the Grays Point flats, nippers work, buy some live worms and you are almost guaranteed.
  11. Had a great time tonight....4 flatties between 40 and 50 cm on plastics...kept two... 2 whiting around 35cm and a 34cm bream... on nippers...
  12. Awesome effort, bet you slept well that night!!
  13. " They ranged from 4 inches to more than legal....might just head out there now and see whats around, will let you know later!!
  14. Fished down near the start of the 8 knot zone at Grays point last night, Tailor were everywhere, couldnt keep a bait out for anything else without it getting mauled by them. Must have spun up and released about 30 before I got tired of it.
  15. This wasnt my mistake this time, but gave us all a really good laugh. About 10 years ago we were towing an enclosed racecar trailer back to Sydney from Gunnedah. With my mates Hilux we sat on a confortable 90kmh on the flat and up hills as well. After a while we had a bloke towing what looked like a fancy new bowrider type sitting about 6 inches off the back of our trailer, he would flash his lights and get all agitated on the flat sections but when it came to dual lanes going up hill he wouldnt be able to maintain 90 and would pull alongside and then fallback again. After a few kilometers of this we decided just do drop back and let him past before he killed someone. As he passed he gave us the bird with a few choice words and tried to take off, it was then we noticed his ouboard still down and grinding away on the road everytime he hit a bump. When we pulled up at some lights a bit further down the track, we just gave him a friendly wave and kept going!!
  16. Take a bottle of tuna oil, the good thick stuff....leave a tuna oil trail behind you and they wont dive into it, they hate it on their feathers.
  17. Another quick fish after work today, launched the boat at Grays Point, was planning on using Poddy Mullet but forgot the bread, Mananged to catch one on a small peice of prawn. Tide was too high to pump nippers so had my one poddy and some frozen pillies that I threw in. The pillies were only managing small red bream and the poddy finally died of boredom just as the sun started to go down. Decided to fillet him and not long after the bait hit the water bang.....after a really good fight..a nice 59cm flattie... After that |I could see the storms coming up from down south so decided to head for home before they arrived.....
  18. Im impressed, awesome fish...been trying for a huge flattie like that for ages......well done...
  19. Ive personally seen Yellowfin caught in Dolans bay and a few from South West arm, although about 15 years ago, the dolans bay one was about 8 kg, South West arm ones were around 25kg. People were actually targetting them in the arm.
  20. I think the problem with deep divers is you cant run them fast enough to give your skirted lures a proper action. While the deep divers will catch marlin in my opinion you would be best concentrating on a spread of skirted lures if you are chasing marlin instead of trying to cover all bases.
  21. Ive never had much luck fishing the deep holes around the Port. Maybe just due to lack of effort, might have to try a bit harder next time!!
  22. Next to the ramp, near the start of the mangroves. Even with boat traffic from all the boats returning for the day there was heaps there.
  23. Thanks mate, forgot to add a few keeper whiting as well, been enjoying the late arvos fish, not always the right tide but less boat traffic and normally an easy park at the ramp as well.
  24. Spent a quick few hours last Friday and saturday afternoon on the Port Hacking. Launching at Grays point around 4pm both days proved productive and supplied a good feed. Friday after work I shot down and pumped some fresh nippers which ended with a few keeper Flatties a nice 38cm Bream and a Decent Blue Swimmer that didnt want to part with the live nipper.. Saturday I spent some time chasing poddies before leaving the ramp and quickly caught 5 on a line with bread bait. 4 were quickly picked to peices (tailor maybe? any other ideas..eyes and guts/gills eaten out of them) the 5th brought a nice 52cm dusky for dinner. All in all an enjoyable time on the water even though it was still very dark from the rains during the week.
  25. Yes thats the one, off the reserve, not a long walk but fairly steep, lots of stairs. Very good place for squid!!
