  1. yeah i saw a carp jump out of the water and it would have had 2 ish ft out of the water .... i would geustamate that the fish would have been at least 3ft. cause it was just past the dorsel fin [ if u get my meaning ] so next time i will take some bread and try for 1 of these things ,i do like the idea of being towed around . oh and there where plenty of 200-250 mm bass around as well .they loved the sx40,s . craig
  2. thanks everyone ok il call it a bass my first, how i love catching a new species .sydney really is an amazing fishery .the amount of fishing that is available to me within a 1/2 hr drive is just fantastic and now i have a bass fishry to add to that . looks like ill be spending more time chasing bass as well . thanks again craig
  3. i went for a yak with my family to the national park at lane cove on sunday so naturally i had to take a fishing rod with me .. [ actually i took 2 ] i trolled a sx40 around and landed 5 bass or ep,s in the first few klms . then we pulled up at a place called wee island [ figure that one out for yourself ...lol ] . had some lunch and as we cast of again i noticed a nice big snag . so i rigged up a squidgie wriggler 65mm in bloodworm and let it loose and then bang . a nice fish much to my surprise . it put up a great fight on 3lb gear [ i do like my 1-3kg dropshot ] but i mannaged to land it . can anyone tell me if its a bass or ep ? im thinking ep . so a new fishery and only 15 minutes from home craig
  4. Bannana prawn is a good gulp sp, but im tending to lean towards squidgies at the moment . im sick of throwing half the gulps away because they are unusable from the packet , and at $12 ish a packet that makes them bloody exspencive . you can get alot of squidgies for the price of a gulp tub . wriglers in bloodworm 65mm and 85mm are my go to,s .also try some of the squidgie pro range as well. u get a packet of paste called rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr cant think what its call ,to late in the night BUT its fantastic stuff . craig
  5. i have a 1-3kg , a 2-5kg and a 8-10kg and they are great rods . 2-5kg is a touch heavy so i would have prefered a 2-4kg but they are great rods .love the 1-3kg as well its is my main bream sp rod . craig
  6. yep i agree fine the bastards ..... confiscate there fishing gear and there licence ...... sorry BUT i have no patentence for these aholes who are spoiling it for everyone else . these people will only move to another area and before long that would be closed off as well ................... craig
  7. Vanish fluro leader has some stretch in it . so when attached to braid u get a small amount of stretch to absorb big bites . vanish fluro does stretch BUT not as much as the leader so attached to braid it WILL snap easyer . i use to use the fluro line as leader and got broken off more times than i would to admit to . i would say that most leader material would stretch more than fluro line for this reason . craig
  8. yeah i agree with mako but also try out the front of the boat ramp [ northern end ] in the deep gutters . livies go very well there with some good flathead caught . goodluck craig
  9. If you believe ...... they will come . oh hang on thats a baseball crowd im sure if provide a regulay supply of food at the same time of day they will come . craig
  10. mate welcome to the site great to see youve gotten into some nice jewies ive been trying to get out on the beach for a seriuos fish for a while but just havnt managed it yet ive got to get out there craig
  11. This is a real problem and oddly enough the 3rd time today i am responding to this topic via different fishing sites . These idiots ARE providing fuel for councils and extream green groups to have us ALL banned from fishing these areas . Is it feesable to not only fine these people but also rip up there fishing licences for a good period of time ?????? i certainly would not have a problem with it .you only have to go down to your local waterway and u WILL mostly find evedence of some fishermans rubbish . i am on colleroy beach every week [ nippers] and on most occasions i pick up some form of rubbish mostly fishing stuff . this week was a good length of fishing line ???? so yes count me in on your brilliant clean up idea and maybe it should be an anual clean up day . i work on the idea that i leave a area in BETTER condition than how i found it , and im sure serious fisher folk , like those on this site do as well . craig p.s nice new site p.ss ive also taken the liberty of of telling 2 other yak fishing sites of the project[ with a link to this site ] ,hope this is ok . i figue the more the merrier .

  15. my secret is out . another good way is to burley up with breadcrumbs - tuna oil -sand and water mix, use a peeled prawn coated in the burley mix and hang on . ok i tell no more secrets craig
  16. i disagree and believe that it would be laughed out of court if they booked you and i for one would take it to court . you could even tell the court that u mesured the fish with the sticker that they provided to u ... u know the ones that are inaccurate no one would be 100% sure which is why it would not stand up in court .they woiuld not be able to proove beyond reasnable doubt that the fish was undersize . head size would surely give u a accurate guesstamate of the fish size lets say the fish was 20kg,s and was bitten in half and u pulled in the head and torso measuring 60cm would they book u then ??? good samaritan or boof head ???? leaning towards boof head craig
  17. Well it sounds like u had an eventfull day anyway As far as the legal size of the kingfish, it was bitten by a shark so 1 it would not have survived and 2 it would have been legal to keep if that didnt happen . soi reakon he was a jerk- oh sorry i mean he was wrong some people should just mind there own buisiness i reakon . craig
  18. hobies are great for this sort of fishing . they do have some disadvantages but what kayak dosnt ???? if u want to go peddle power than another brand to look at is called native craft . they are pedal powered but they are able to be pedled in reverse as well . i will be buying another yak in the not to distant future and i will be having a good look at one of these. i curently use a viking tempo which is a fantastic yak and i do the sort of fishing that u want to do on a yak . they are aussie built , have a 10 year hull warrenty and in my opinion are one of the best fishing yaks on the market and they are only $1100 new and come standard with a good seat ,a good padle hat and drink botle . the one thing about them is they need a rudder system on them [ i think ] and the factory fitted one is expensive [ $380] but if u are handy with tools u can build and fit one yourself . this is what i did at a cost of less than $20 . made from stuff i had in my garage . really there are so many good fishing yaks out now we are spoilt for choice . oh and be prepaired this IS A VERY ADICTIVE FISHING STYLE to get into good luck craig
  19. What sort of fishing do u plan to do in the yak ???? craig

  24. if u want to see undersize fish sales go to the paddys markets ........................................... BLOODY DISCUSTING tiny bream ... tiny snapper ... hairtail 1foot long .tiny whiting .......... and when i say where do these small fish come from they tell me they come from victoria . this is why i get the sh*ts when people put us under the same guise as pro fisher folk . craig
