  1. Great report. I live in the area and have never thought the area is so full of life. Hope your mullets turn into lots of jew or whatever big fish.
  2. I went out to Cook's Rover breakwall with the Slosh. The Slosh was mounted on a Sealine Surf overhead rod that I imported from the US. The rod was cheap, but the freight was not. It was fun because you have to watch out for birdsnest around the spool. I had few of them but I managed to got out. You need some skills in using them. I could not get it to cast too far. But with practice I hope to gain more distance and less birdsnest. The annoying part is the "thumb level wind" part. I don't think I need a thumb protector. I need a level wind!
  3. Thanks guys, I think I got the picture. To Berleygut - I was referring to retrieving line, but now you mentioned it I kinda need to put line on spool before I could start retrieving! Thanks heaps for the tips.
  4. Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I had a great black friday fishing for yakkas. Got 13 of them. Luck was definitely on my side. At least you still got some fish.
  5. I recently acquired a Daiwa SL20SH. It hasn't a level wind. My problem is I have no idea how to easily wind the line onto the spool nice and flat as if with the aid of a level wind? I guess all I could do is wiggling my finger left to right and to left. But that is a real pain don't you think? Thanks in advance.
  6. Great report and nice pictures too. It was such an adventure. Did you make fishing with fly look easy or what? Good work with the trout. Good to see the snakes were not about too. Carry on and let us have more of your adventures.
  7. How good was that! Great report. The envy of charter boats and the star of the day. Well done on landing the king fish.
  8. No idea about using lures to catch jewfish. But it sounds like top effort on your first go.
  9. Great pictures and nice report. Aren't you scared of the crab pinching you when you catch them?
  10. That's a nice fish! Congrats. What did you catch it with and can you please tell me what rig you used? I tried many times to catch them but no luck (or skill). I heard they are strong. It must be fun bringing it up.
  11. I have seen them sold for $15/kg in a fish market in Cabramatta and they sold very well. They taste alright steamed. But the one I got kind of have a stink in the tummy. I was wondering then they were called old boot because its tummy smelled like one.
  12. Wow those are really nice fish. I haven't lost reel guide yet, but sometimes I spend all night for not even nibbles. Now that's really bad.
  13. Nice fish. 2 fish in 2 hour is great effort.

    Cricket

Perhaps he is still adjusting to the departure of great players and the younger players. If you like agressive cricket, he is the best captain.
  18. I was fishing Brisbane Waters too around the same time too. But I didn't catch anything. Oh may be just one tailor which caught itself on a left alone hard body lure while I rest. I am very envious of the flatheads that you guys caught. Good work!
  19. Those are nice fish. Well done. I think I saw your boat coming into Cooks River on Sunday.
  20. Were you the one who told the asian dude "soft plastic can catch fish?" If that's you, Thanks!
  21. Thanks Hodgey! Any info on sp technique/s? Cheers.
  22. I was at Dolls Point Sun morning. I started off with worms bait. Then as the morning grew, I saw and spoke to a couple of fishers flicking sp. They swore that SP can catch fish. Fished with a blue fish shape sp, not working. Saw the earlier fisher landed a fish, and saw them using much larger sp. So I swapped a larger bright yellow with fork tail. Second flick and BANG! I was on to a flattie to 36 cm. Unhook it, and since I was hungry, kept this one. Back to water, first flick, BANG! I lost it about 1 meter from my feet. So my next mission: Research the site for the "best" sp. Go back there and try again!
  23. Thanks guys! I guess it wouldn't be 2kg. I just have no idea about weight. I don't catch many "big" fish, so this one gets bigger, longer and heavier by the day in my mind.
