Gday was wondering if people knew some consistent spots for landbased fishing around MH and the Spit when i can't take the boat out? and whether to spin hard bodies or sp's or use bait there? Any advice would be appreciated Thanks

Gday guys seeing as there's a fair few people with experience in kayak fishing here i thought i'd ask as ive been interested in a hobie kayak for ages because they look like such fun. One question i have is where do u store your tackle box? i think ive seen some people put it behind their seat, but it looks very awkward to be reaching behind there for various bits of tackle? Whats the solution to this?

thanks very much guys i had a bit of an idea of what it was used for but you've cleared that all up for me also do you tend to use a leader with a greater breaking strain? eg if i've got 10lb braid would I use a leader of about 12-14lb? thanks for all the help

pretty basic question surrounding fluorocarbon so i'm sure more experienced fishos than myself will know. What is it and how does it differ from normal line? i've caught this fishing bug recently (since Dad got a boat) and am desperate to find out everything i can. Cheers

i wondered for ages on the exact problem. Went with the stradic because the bloke who sold it to me was a shimano man and i couldnt decide myself, the other guy in the shop was trying to push the advantage like everyone has said, it's all personal preference and finding a match with the rod you want to use for whats its worth i ve loved the stradic (but probably would have loved the advantage just as much) be sure to tell us which you went with btw

Gday guys Thanks for the input. I'm currently considering a Wright and Mcgill spinning hybrid. The rods are from America and i've never had any experience with the brand. Just wondering if anyone has and what they think of them?

Gday all Getting a new Shimano Stradic and looking at buying a new rod to go with it. Use mostly for bottom bashing around pittwater and the harbour. Bloke who sold me the reel reckons a shimano raider would be the go. Anybody got other ideas on what other options are available as my knowledge with these things is fairly limited? Cheers

Looking at buying a new reel for bottom fishing around sydney harbour and pittwater Probably put around 8/10 pound line on it. The Shimano's are nice but don't know if i want to spend that much. Any opinions or experiences with reels around the $200 mark would be very interested to hear?

On the new boat got a 115Hp Yamaha 4stroke (its a TABS 545 Ocean Series) the dealer only sold Yamaha's and I didn't mind because he gave me a great deal and I don't really know enough about the different kinds of performance outboards offered. It's too late for me to change but I just would like to hear some opinions on how this motor rates against its competitors eg Suzuki, Honda, Johnson etc Cheers

It's not really a big issue, but i was hoping someone might know an easy painless way to realign the outboard with the steering wheel as it is just out by about a 1/4 of a full turn?

Gday, wondering if someone might be able to answer this pretty obscure question Does anybody know the name of an instrument that I once came across fishing with some mates It was a wooden thing like a mini baseball bat with a handle and was used to knock the fish on the head to kill it once it was in the boat. My mates called it a donger but i doubt this is its real name. Has anyone come across a similar kind if instrument? and where i could i buy one?

Gday The old man just got a 545 Tabs Ocean Series with a 115hp 4 stroke Yamaha on the back. Been out a couple of times in Sydney Harbour out past the heads, swell was up one day and the boat seemed to handle very nicely and the ride was soft for a tinnie provided the right speed was picked. Banged a bit when going too fast but you'll find that with most tinnies. Hope this helps

Gday All, my old man just bought a new boat after having kept his old one down at Lake Eucumbene for 30 yrs. Both of us only really have experience in freshwater fishing. With the new boat we're looking to go around pittwater and barrenjoey and offshore. Just looking for tips about what people reckon are the best ways of catching around there. Trolling/ Bottom fishing? What sort of tackle and equipment to use? Any advice would be great cheers
