  1. Congrats Mate! They are some classic, welldone!!!!!
  2. Hi Everyone, sorry for the delay but pics are now added cheers Luke
  3. Hi Raiders, Well there is a good old saying "seeing is believing and now I too am a believer. I went for a yak on sunday with a mate Simon and fellow fishraider Yakfishing. The water looking more like a cup of cold coffee rather than a beautiful pristine lake. The bite was quite slow, only managing a few small flatties and a lonley tailor all on plastics. We decided to start at the ocean end of the lake and head up stream. It all happened when we got to the main bridge( pittwater rd) There is always a flattie or two there and I managed to pick up a couple. Then my mate simon hooked onto a solid fish and I thought at first that this would be a good flattied but low and behold it's an E.P and it was about 32cm and we released it . We only got picks on his mobile phone so when he sends it to me I will add it to this post. I could not believe it, only 1km from the ocean this little gem was caught. I must admit I am a little jealous it was not me who caught that fish, but it was great to see one caught in the lake. cheers Luke
  4. Hi Peter, Mate that's a great bag there and some big suckers too Welldone!!!!
  5. Hi Roberta, Nice report! Isn't it great to find new fishing ground, especially away from all the other traffic. I love the thong popper and great to see that it worked too. I'm a carpenter and I decided to try using those disposable earplugs that we sometimes use on the building site. They work great too and they are already shaped for you. Hopefully meet you at the Forster event coming up soon. I might even come up a bit earlier to get some local knowledge. Ha ha. Bye for now Luke
  6. Hi Pete, Nice work on the blackies there mate! I really must try this method. I think I need to forget the rest of the gear and only take hooks and sinkers. (NO FLOATS)
  7. Hi Pete, yeah I had to land them on the beach. unless you have a really long net, there is no other way. I must admitt I have not tried pussey footing yet, but I must give it a go some time. In fact I might even try it this arvo. Hi Roberta, You should definately get your gear out. I was up at Port last week and there were a few around. By the way, what is the best retrieve when popping for whiting
  8. Hi Raiders, I went to a favourite Luderick spot this afternoon to hone my skills as I have not fished for them for a couple of months now. I know from keeping numerous diary entries that this spot is quite productive in summer. When got there I noticed that the water was quite shallow but there was a good wash that I thought would encourage the fish to come out and play. After fishing for about half an hour and with the tide being about 2hrs before the high I had a solid hook up. It felt like seaweed at first but a couple of solid tail beats reassured a fish was on the other end. This is probably the most difficult place I fish to land a fish and so I knew I was in for a long battle. Finally after 5 minutes or so I landed this nice fish.(45cm) It was followed by a couple of smaller fish around the 35cm mark. Never ceases to amaze me how productive beach corners can be for all fish, but especially luderick. Cheers Luke
  9. Hi Raiders, This is more or less a report "Part 2" of a session posted on christmas eve from fellow raider 'Yakfishing'. I got up at a lazy hour of 6.30 this morning to yak over some new ground that I have come across in the Harbour recently. Somewhere near lanecove. It was a great morning, no wind, overcast and free from boat traffic. I was only fishing in about a metre of water and close to natural structure. I was using 2" natural shrimp gulps. The bream love 'em. I like to use as small weight as possible in shallow water ,probably 1/40 of an ounce. Once again just like the other day the bream went nuts and they were pretty good fish too. I reckon the bream are really active when the prawns are running and with the run up tide 2hrs to high you could'nt go wrong. Anyway here are some pics See ya Luke
  10. Hi Peter, Some beautiful looking bream there, YUMMY!!! I would love to have a crack down there at monavale sometime. I dont know the area down there really well so I might have to meet you down there some time soon and get some local knowledge. Cheers Luke
  11. Mate, top report and an even better fish.WELLDONE!!!!!
  12. Hi Roberta, That is as quite an eventful session you has there. How about those whiting hey, that's awesome. I've just started buying some hard bodies to target whiting but I'm not having a lot of success so far. I would love some advice. That looks like a very painful injury, one that I would not wish upon my worst enemy. I would have probably fainted with that one. Well done on a great session. Bye Luke
  13. Hi Tristan, Nice report mate! Really enjoyed that session and I'm sure there are plenty more to come Cheers Luke
  14. Mate they are some serious bass you got there, well done! If you don't mind me asking. do you think there would be some bass lurking in some of the creeks and ponds along the Great north walk around the Somersby and Piles creek areas? I ask because I often do a bit hiking in these areas and was considering taking a rod with me. What do you think? PM me if nesseccary Cheers Luke
  15. Hi Naddy, Congrates mate, welldone on some great fishing. Your right, those flatties are perfect eating size and sounds like a great way to cook 'em too. Shame about the rod. I bet I know what you'll be getting for christmas. Cheers Luke.
  16. Hi Brad, Congratulations on a nice looking fish. Well worth the effort. It's great when people can share their knowledge to increase the knowledge of others such as what Jewgaffer did for you. Cheers Luke
  17. Awesome effort man! Cheers Luke
  18. Hi Raiders, Just thought I'd give a quick report on the Lake. There are some comparisons and contrasts to make in the fishing world. I went down to the Lake for a yak yesterday morning. There was no wind and conditions seemed perfect. Well they were perfect but I just could not seem to catch a fish. Yesterday arvo however was a different story. It was windy and conditions were not so perfect yet there were plenty of fish about. I caught 5 different species of fish in 5 casts. Tailor, Tarwhine, Bream, Squire and a Flatty in that order, amazing. I ended up with about 12 fish. Enjoyable session gotta go Luke
  19. Hi Roberta, Some great fishing you and Wendy had there. Well done! Great Lizard too! I have not caught whiting or flathead on hard bodies, you've got me excited. I can't wait to try this in my holidays. see ya Luke
  20. Nice work Sounds like you had a great morning What type of s.p's or hardies were you using?
  21. Hi Raiders, Went out to Narra Lakes this morning (Kayak). I thought it would be a great opportunity after that rain we've had over the last couple of days. There is no doubt that every waterway is in need of a good flush now and then and it couldn't be better timing for Narra Lake as the entrance has begun to choke up a bit from large sand deposits. I love it when it rains. All I can think of is the nutrients, prawns and small fish getting washed down stream. Who needs Berley? The fishing was good. There were plenty of flathead mostly around the 35-40cm mark, although I did get one fish at 57cm. Most of the fish were caught on the old faithful silver fox. When moving from place to place I decided to troll a popper and managed a small tailor. I don't about you but every time I go for a fish there is always something that surprises me. On this occassion it was surface action. At one point the surface busted and there were tailor everywhere. But it didn't take long for those pelicans to spoil the party. I forgot my camera so I missed out on some excellent pics. Really enjoyed the morning, Cheers Luke
