  1. The main intent of the give way to sail rule seems be to do with a keeled craft lack of maneuverability in a narrow channel, if a sailing boat can't cross on the correct side without grounding then they have right of way to pass on the incorrect side. Whether they have right of way in more open waters or can tack towards you is up for debate,I'd imagine there would be shared responsibility in case of collision.
  2. Just to confuse things that's the saltwater limit , your allowed two of any size in stocked impoundments.
  3. I've been abroad a ETEC powered boat when my Yammy stopped due to poor fuel, I'd previously heard the ETEC was nosier at idle but there was no differenced at all, they are certainly a very smooth running motor.
  4. I would prefer a dedicated outdoors party without the shooters baggage but the fact is the first outdoors recreation party had a waste of space MP who got done for travel rorts ,his replacement was OK however he developed cancer so couldn't try for re-election. What's the alternative to vote for other than the shooters?
  5. Really sad to see another person die, I must have fished that spot a hundred times back in the early nineties but NEVER in any south east swell, I don't care how small the waves are if their not from the north east please find another spot to fish for your families sake, no fish is worth your life.
  6. A very backwards step in my opinion, the day I was there boats were tied up by the bow only with their stern swing out, pretty much defeated the whole idea of widening it! No way is there enough pontoon space there now.
  7. Probably looked at the flood alert, http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/flood/
  8. I was having a similar issue with my HDS5 and lowered the transducer 1cm, problem fixed although I can't see why it needed to be changed. If it's a software problem maybe a hard reset would work, the key combination should be in the manual.
  9. Pejar is not going to be heavily stocked as Fisheries are attempting to develop it as a trophy fishery,I just don't see it happening myself,I've managed the occasional fish there but it a long way from Sydney to blank out.
  10. That's probably the comp weekend, theirs usually a boat up for grabs if you want to register. Golden Perch would be a good target on bait, you might find lure fishing be a bit hit and miss this time of year as the natives wait for the water too warm up. Wyangala used to be one of the best trout dams in the state however its early days in the restocking,I'm looking at another year for the trout to grow a bit. Regards Charles
  11. They have in the past been stocked in the Burrinjuck, Wyangala as well as the tailrace below, never did any good and it seems very unlikely they would still go into Burrinjuck. For the record they do complete their life-cycle in some landlocked overseas lakes.
  12. Same here, I always nicked in there, in and out in quick time, two pontoons might work if ones for launch and the other for retrieval, its going to be busy in summer as even today the car park was half full.
  13. Botany Bay Revamp, it seems we're going from three to two pontoons as an improvement ? Should be interesting come summer for those who don't drive on off for their boat launching. Regards Charles
  14. I'd say a brownie would have a head twice as big and ugly looking ,still a ripper catch,it's always hard to judge a fish from the colour but you see salmon looking like that down in tassie.
  15. I've owned both Yammy and Zuki, the initial purchase price would be less for the Suzuki, maybe somewhat offset by six monthly rather than annual serving. Yammy certainly have the advantage with he dealer network but I'd tend to choose your nearest dealer and go with his brand.
  16. A few bass fishos launch near the ski club were you can manhandle up and down the steep bank, they also have a boom gated ramp near up past the bridge, be warned the reserve gates locked at night. The wharf upstream was meant to be for launching kayak along with another up near the powerhouse museum which I don't think was ever built ?
  17. We're looking at about three months closure while they construct a new ramp and pontoon, lets hope some decent parking is in the plan it's sure to be popular once it opens.
  18. If they make it a real rule fair enough but the security guard has drive by me fishing on the wall at least twenty times and never said a word, nor has NSW the Fisheries inspector.
  19. Assuming the wires are red, usually the switches are paired up so you have three fuse whose loose wires should join up to your batteries positive wire, you want the positive from the accessory to run to the free switch spade and the accessory negative to the battery.
  20. There is a very big black market for tailor, if you hide the fish underneath the deck you'd probably lose your boat but just place them in the esky and act dumb and its a fairly small fine, these guys must have had form as six to nine hundred dollars would be more likely for a first offence.
  21. Took a run the river Friday and threw everything at them, managing one lone brownie around the pound mark. Didnt get a picture as it pissed down rain. The boat ramps open with the wharfs still underwater, could be interesting if we get a buy Sunday. The Narrows are a rapid, safe enough in a boat however forget about yaking up there for awhile, further leading to the Junction it's running very fast and about three meters deep if you keep to the right going upstream.
  22. Hiked down to the junction on Sunday, the Nepean had dropped a few meters but still plenty coming down the Warragamba, would have been rather dangerous trying to turn around if anyone did happen to make it up the rapids.
  23. Went down for fish and the gates are still open, I would not be rushing down just yet.
  24. There was a time many decades ago when trout were stocked in the Nepean and the bottom line is even without high temperatures they do not have suitable spwaning areas. Most of the fish that come down the Warragamba, Grose or Colo would be three years old and at the end of their lives so go and catch them is the best option.
  25. It's legal to pump there if you don't mind some hard work as they tend to be small, take a seeve and go deep is your best bet.
