  1. I went last Sunday and the car park at six thirty AM was nearly full, there is a real increase in popularity this year or maybe people are stir crazy cause of the weather, thankfully with three lanes the wait was not too long.
  2. Been a year or so since I was there but it was just some sleeper logs chained together down the to the water, there is kayak hire at the same spot which might be another option.
  3. I like a deep diving lure that floats, you throw it out and crank it hard to dive deeply then a slow retrieve though where the fish should be holding followed by a pause to let it float a bit up as it nears the shore, often the fish will smash it as you pause at the end. Then again some spots are just death to lures, you learn to use a shallower diver or go elsewhere, some of my collection forty years old but I've lost plenty first cast.
  4. Like most freshwater lakes it can get weedy around the edges, caught bugger all myself but their no denying the monsters some of the locals catch. Found a permit application at: www.canberrafishos.com/Newsletters/CFC_Jun_10.pdf
  5. I wouldn't worry about the permit if you can remove your fuel line and tank,if no them probably a good idea to get one. Googongs also closed if it's total fire ban so if Plan B is to fish one of the other Canberra Lakes then you need a permit and first time safety inspection. The river upstream of LBG you need to book as well so as not to disturb the skiers.
  6. Good report mate, been a very brown colour there since the lake refilled and all the trees rotted I know it doesn't worry the fish down in Tassie but it's a new experience for me here in NSW. For what it's worth I was there a month ago and the fish where biting a bit and rising more than I've seen for ages, the locals seemed pretty optimistic about the future.
  7. I don't know the manufacturer but there are are heaps of great looking barg boats getting around Port Hacking, maybe you could check them out,I believe the alloy extrusion they use is from the oyster industry. If you went the maximum trailerable width and used a side consol you would have plenty of room to move around and a wide door at the transom
  8. I'd be looking at the V-Lock Mount, I know the thread on it was deleted as spam but it looks a like a good product and would have used it on my Poly 4.1 Challangers downrigger had I know about it. I wouldn't worry too much about screwing into poly just use 14 gauge screws and don't overtighten.
  9. Yep there is a caravan park hidden at Ramsgate, best to ring first as I heard rumors they were closing down?
  10. The dam turn off is opposite the cemetery, if your on Thompsoms Creek Rd your in the wrong place although sometimes people illegally access it by motor bike from that side all the roads should be locked. Try all the normal fly patterns or use egg imitation fished slowly as if it's a bit of trout roe if the fish are visible trying to spawn in the shallows.
  11. I like the last one best but I must mention some of my tiny Japanese lures came rigged with the front single point up and the hook still seem to find a hold OK when bass fishing so I'm not sure how much it matters
  12. The bait shop worms more than likely are breed by Aquabait up the central coast, they use warm water from the power station, special food and secret chemical to harvest them.
  13. A Dumbier trailer should be fine strength wise.Trailers are often rated to the minimum possible weight to save on rego costs,it often the same trailer that can carry twice the weight just a different number stamped on the VIN plate, you current trailer is probably fine, just ask the trailer mob the cost of brakes,VIN plate, blue slip and your good to go.
  14. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=7167 Shoe soles are probably the tough challenge for glue, you might try Pliobond should work.
  15. The never one without the line capacity stickers have supposedly smoother gears and no clicker, there's also a red one the ss model which is a bit of a cheapie. I love my ABU with the ability to swap parts across the range you can always keep them going.
  16. I suppose if you a large mouth bass fisherman a lure designed to "hunt" like a XS limberlamber is worth every cent. I don't mind fishing antique lures worth seventy dollars or so, they were brought to fish with and that's what I use them for.
  17. You can view online at http://marine.geogarage.com/routes ,since these are New Zealand charts there should be a free copy available for download if you search Linz or Koordinates sites.
  18. Yes it does, the bumbag I perchased was quite old, so carry your recept if you decide to use one. "Do the “bum bag” style lifejackets meet legislative requirements? The new bum bag style lifejackets meet the legislative requirements provided the waistband buckle is properly secured and provided they are marked by the manufacturer as meeting the relevant standard acceptable to NSW Maritime." http://www.maritime.nsw.gov.au/wh/lifejacket_reforms_faqs.html
  19. Plenty at the sailing club, they just tend to run small, it's sooo frustrating looking at all those yabbie holes in Woolaware Bay.

    easy gps

There should be a "configuration" or "preferences" menu somewhere where you can specify the format you want to use, it looks like you adding decimal degrees.decimal minutes.decimal seconds.
  21. The Balty made by Kododa, I've also seen a "new" Batic minniow which didn't impress as well as the Snowy Minnow which is made of chrome plated lead without the plastic.
  22. Great news and a fantastic report, that little bay which is now a big bay was one of my favorite places to fish before the drought.I hope you took a note of all drop offs to the side of the road cause I wouldn't want you to wade out too far! this is where most the fly fishers used to head out to of an evening as plenty of fish work along there.
  23. I like to use both of these reels in freshwater and their great but add salt and their very high maintenance, stick with Shimano and you'll be a lot happier.
  24. The distributors posts on a few forums under the user name Hyper Tackle , doesn't sell direct to the public and mostly brings in bream colours which is a real shame as the is one of my favorite bass and trout lures.

    Which Fuel ?

E10 shouldn't do any harm as long as your water separators installed, their actually looking to move to E15 in the US,I'm sure we follow soon enough. My preference is standard unleaded, 95, E10 then 98 as a last resort as 98 is also sometimes formuated with alcohol. I'm told the small independents will still be able to sell unleaded.
