  1. A lot of water between them but I have seen trout about the dam about a year ago, it might be worth a throw near the Markins or the Quartz Pot this time of year.
  2. I caught six pound brown trout there ( twenty years ago), sadly the drought killed off most of the fish by about 2003, been some restocking but the water levels been up and down since then, you never know this this of year you could be lucky and strike some fish moving up from Wyangala. Charles
  3. Makes no difference really, I would leave it alone, think about what happens if you drifting backwards or sideways, sounder keeps working OK
  4. If it's just a change of impeller its not a difficult job but once I opened up my moor the seals on the drive shaft were gone so it was back to order more parts and the actual water pump was different from the schematic, bottom line is your only guessing without looking inside.
  5. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=33704 Parramatta map shop would be your best bet.
  6. All my tanks have leaked from new, need to use Stage Jointing Paste it will fix the problem , forget hot melt as petrol dissolves or turpentine dissolves it easy.
  7. I fished back in it's glory days and even them it was very hit or miss, if you down there at dusk it's when the locals arrive to have go,there are big trout there just very limited numbers. Most dams I would only cast out a few meters but It's not nearly as deep as it looks off the dam wall as it steps down to a road along the wall, you need to west of the spillway and cast well out if the water warm. Charles
  8. There will be occasional days over chrissy, new year when the car park at Foreshore Dr is full , Its the best ramp but I would try Wally's Wharf or Sylvania first as long as you have some helpers.
  9. You'll usually see a big rise when your car has it's tenth birthday, Guess it's because the young first car owners often buy something old, really sucks as I'm in my fifties and have never had a greenslip claim. Their other trick has been to bung up your greenslip price if you claim on your competitive insurance, this is why I've always gone for separate companies to keep them in the dark if possible.
  10. I believe the rule in NSW is size 8 hook or smaller, most size eight hooks would be less than 2cm I guess.
  11. Over 1.2m you need a red flag or prop cover on the back, there is no limit to your "projection" as long as you must remain within you allowable "overhang" past the rear axle usually the length of the front loading space or 3.7m for a boat trailer, it's usually the flag people forget. All covered in VSI 5, should be online somewhere.
  12. Waters about forty cm from the spillway, I fished briefly last week without any luck before heading out to Oberon however it was quite allround from what I've heard. Was pretty deserted with the fires.

    life jackets

The Maritime website just says "boating" technically speaking he should be keeping watch and ready to start the boat at any time which entails wearing a lifejacket, its the same argument as being a sleep in the back of your car, you have to be fit to drive.
  14. The electrical system is easiest to check first but could be the pump in the fuel vapour separator system, primer goes very firm, fuel goes into the engine, but a vapour lock in the injection system stops fuel flowing through the injectors.
  15. As long as you have fuel it should try to run, it sounds like a fuel pump fuel pump, the Yammies have two of them, not sure about the Suzuki. I've towed people in and have been towed in myself, NSW Marine Rescue will also tow you if you phone them up,so frustrating when you do the maintenance and still break down.
  16. Probably Moffat Falls, not exactly a secret it's appeared in the various fishing mags many many times, I believe you have to a guest or with a guide to fish there.
  17. I take it you have an easting (6 figures), northing (7 figures) and grid zone, set your GPS to UTM and it they should plug straight in, the only thing to watch is your datum which is possibly still AUS1966 and the grid zone probably 55 or 56 if you don't know it.
  18. Wind wasn't too bad at Lyell, same result catching fish ,the dam was just spilling with a lot of water between the fish at the moment. Quite a lot of campers about considering the time of year.
  19. The tackle shop at Penrith might still have them in the bargain bin.
  20. I know a black market fisherman who doesn't care about the legal limit, just pays the fine when caught, you'll never stop the black market except at the retail end. The big problem with the proposal is quotas are coming in for the legitimate pros and were effectively giving them half our quota unless your in a haven area , I can't help but feel were being dudded somewhere.
  21. You can pick up the Watersnake motors with handheld remote for around seven hundred dollars if you shop about,I really like the the look of those Spindrifts I'd add one to my polyboat if I had the room.
  22. If you're going after snapper people usually cast out as far possible but otherwise anywhere past your rod tip is good, you just need to experiment. Fishing in close rather than a float you can just let the bait drift around and slowly wind it in to stop it snagging, a bit of leads optional and i normally let it ride down to the hook with a swivel above.
  23. I have the maps for this area and the access tracks are in theory gated which is not to say people don't find their way in somehow,I wouldn't expect too much sympathy if you're caught i there.
  24. Most businesses have someone come from their insurance company for though a fire inspection, its just the way it is, if you did get robbed well you know the first person to visit . Sounds like a good idea when combined with fire inspection and fitting smoke alarms etc. As long as you videotaped the contents I wouldn't see any reason to delve too deeply into its value and receipts.
  25. Managed some decent tailor early morning at Woolaware Bay but the sandflies chased us away to the big school of surface fish in the middle of the bay, they were pretty well fed when we arrived, your normally cursing the wind out on the bay but I've done any good when its too calm like this morning.
