  1. nice work scratchie and well done on adapting to the conditions and using what is available right where your fishing.....its amazing how that will usually bring results. pete.
  2. Wow what a sensational effort ! Congrats mate. Pete
  3. we caught a few near bobbin head several around lion island and probably half of what we caught at half tide rocks in Brisbane waters. the idea is to fish the turn of the tide and fish very light with little or no lead. pete.
  4. I guess we will find out during the hair tail social:-)
  5. Didn't measure them mate but they were probably between 3 and 4 foot at a guess
  6. are you kidding? your spot is crap!! last time I fished there I couldn't get a bite! lol we found our own spot!
  7. there is photos to prove it now stewy!! lol. I cant believe I caught 4 hairtail! they must be thick!
  8. hi guys I met up with my mate joe on sunday afternoon on my way home from a very unsuccessful entrance social ( 1 undersized bream 1 eel and one large catfish! ) at parsley bay boat ramp and spent the last 2 days aboard his boat fishing the Hawkesbury, cowan and Brisbane waters. Over 2 nights we ended up with 5 hairtail from jerusulem bay and lost 4 others the first night due to them picking up livies on the bottom intended for jew, hence no wire trace! and during the day we concentrated on bream flathead etc and ended up with our bag limit of 20 bream (between 2 of us) 2 flathead and several large wrasse but only kept 2. Most of the bream were averaging 30cm including 1 honker around 40cm. On the way back to the ramp this afternoon we saw tailer busting up in broken bay and landed 7 in about 10 mins . They were all just undersize and they were all returned. It was good to catch up with several raider friends on the weekend and also nice to meet others for the first time but it was better to finally catch a few fish! pete
  9. good work mate and good on you for getting the kids into some fish! I was down there last Saturday and the river seems to be alive with small just legal flathead and millions of undersized bream.
  10. hopefully the weather wont get too crappy over the next couple of days and I can get amongst a few myself! congratulations!
  11. nice work guys....that's a very nice jew on plastics! pete

  14. Great fish mate..... Good on you for releasing her.
  15. I once fished the George's river not far from the speed boat club and a couple of idiots were hitting golf balls at us! Luckily none hit us and they eventually ran out of balls and drove away.
  16. well done mate nothing more exciting than seeing a fish chase and smack a lure! pete.

  18. nice work Nathan, always good to get out with the kids!
  19. hi raiders I hit wisemans ferry again this time I did an overnighter with my mate joe. he managed to get another jew this time 73cm and I got one just under size at 66cm and between us we also got several around 55 - 60 cm plus 2 nice flathead around the 50cm mark. ....again on peeled prawns. cheers pete.
  20. thanks Nathan....long time no see....we will have to tee up a trip very soon mate! text me if your free in the next week or so...I might even be heading out tonight if you have nothing going on.
  21. gday baz ... I caught the fish at the usual spot on the usual bait! ... the guy where I bought the bait told me that a customer showed him a video of himself losing a good jew when the knot came undone on his swivel somewhere near del rio.... you should have the gear out mate!
  22. gday scratchie....mate you got that right.....hairtail suck lol!! at least the company was fun at the hairtail social!
  23. the bait was peeled prawn ... that's pretty much all I ever use down there ...I have caught a few here and there on squid or fillets etc but 99% of the time they take the peeled prawn so these days I don't waste my time with anything else.
  24. hi guys I hit my favourite spot at wisemans ferry today and did ok ! I expected to be besieged with catfish and eels after the recent rain that we have had, and the water was near low tide and chocolate colour when I arrived too, but I only caught about a dozen catfish all day so it wasn't too hard to take as sometimes they can be in absolute plague proportions.....anyway the tide was running in when I arrived at around 630am and I fished the entire run in for about a dozen small jew between 35 and 45 cm and one small bream. just as the water became slack I decided to zip back to the wharf at wisos and go up to the general store to by a thermos as I was hanging for a cup of coffee at that stage and left my thermos sitting on the bench at home ....grrrr ! when I got back to the spot the tide was just starting to move in the other direction...perfect! over the next couple of hours I picked up 4 nice flathead around 50cmas well as 4 small ones that were released to fight another day then around 4 in the afternoon storm clouds started to form so I decided to quickly put up the side curtains on the boat so I didn't end up drenched but stayed and fished on as I know that the change in barometer can put the fish on the bite sometimes and although it didn't end up raining because the storm just went around me , my persistence payed off. one of my small rods with 6lb line bent slightly and I picked it up as the fish swam off and struck ....zzzzzzzzzzzzz im on ! I could tell immediately that it was a decent fish so I put the rod back in the rod holder and quickly wound the other rods up, pulled the anchor and motored slowly towards the fish winding line back on the reel as I went. after about 5 mins of fun I managed to land an 85 cm jew ! stoked ! im on holidays at the moment so I might even end up back there again tomorrow yet! pete.
  25. you mean to say that you champions missed out!!!! I suppose we are all human! good to see you picked up a feed of other stuff while you were there. pete
