  4. awesome work gianni and seamus!! the next challenge is to master your techniques in a completely different system! i doubt very much if it would take you guys long ! keep up the great work. pete.
  5. Nice report Nathan . Bad luck on the 2 big ones although the send one sounds like it may have been a stingray ..... They have a tendancy to zip under the boat or bury on the bottom. Glad to hear you got a few anyway and the main thing is you enjoyed yourself. Pete
  6. It's unlike stewy to find the fishing hard going !! They must have been scarce! Glad to hear you guys had a good time anyway . Pete
  7. Great report Paul and congratulations on catching a couple of bass. They really hit hard and take you by surprise and can really get the adrenalin pumping! Good on you matt for showing Paul the ropes. Pete
  8. G'day Jeff are you sure it was a snapper ? Seems to have stripped 150mtrs of 20lb braid to quickly for a snapper you sure it wasn't a decent pelagic? Bad luck anyway mate hope you get him next time. Pete.
  9. If you travel downstream about 1 1/2 klm the river bends left ,you will see rose ale camping and caravan park on your left travel roughly the same distance again and you will see the wires.... Fish the left hand side of the river roughly 20mtrs out from the mangroves just on the other side of the wires ...... There should be a white trawler tied to a wharf directly opposite on the right hand side of the river ....., there should be good flathead and bream here also..... Days fishin is spot on about herring ! I have seen guys getting them on small bait jigs around the turn of tide at the windsock. Good luck mate . Pete
  10. i think you will find the legal size jew few and far between at wisemans now until around april. i would concentrate on a live mullet or similar at this time of year. peeled prawns are a gun bait around september / october and again in april / may how ever you will find lots of undersized jew at this time of year and you might need a live bait to tempt a bigger specimen , short of that i would be using big slab baits of tailor or mullet but make sure its fresh.as nathan said a big slab of chicken soaked in parmisan and aniseed oil works too ... i got a 14 1/2 kilo jew in early october on that at the spot nathan is talking about near the wires. good luck. pete.
  11. last time i prawned at the entrance i got home the next day and the girlfriend said how did you go? i answered ...i got 3....she said 3 kilos? ....i said no 3!!!! i think they cost me about 50 each and she couldnt stop laughing!
  12. not sure about braid but whenever i put mono on a reel i simply drop it in a bucket of water then wind it on under a little pressure......never had a problem and the few rods that i own with braid were loaded the same way and no worries with them either! pete.
  13. i go to the public ramp at windsor on my way home and reverse the whole trailer and boat in the fresh water then flush the motor and run a soft broom around the boat while she is submerged then simply drive out !! mind you I used about 3 cans of fish oil on the trailer when it was brand new and didnt use it for 2 weeks to let it harden and i have no rust problems and my boat and trailer is about 10 yrs old now. pete

  18. thats a really nice feed there mate, garfish are really nice eating pete.
  19. trolling them at a very slow idle speed works well also...just pin the livie through the nose and dont be tempted to strike as the kingies play with the livie ....just keep moving slow and eventually the rod will buckle and they will be on! if you dont own a downrigger a very large barrel sinker about 4 inches long works well. just drop it down about halfway and away you go! good luck pete
  20. nice work jeff....congrats to your mrs on her PB. pete.
