  1. Hey Raiders - as there seems to be a few newby's on the chat tonight I thought I may as well put the request in for someone anyone with experience in fishing the bay to come out and join me for a fish and to answer my questions....like where do you catch fish....? my questions will be slightly more sophisicated than that...but you never know. I have my own gear so all you need is your gear and a sambo or a bite to eat. I have a 4.2 runabout - no worries about petrol it is pretty ecconomical so more than happy to cover that cost for some good info general chat. Thanks Raiders. Pat
  2. Well done Pel, you have always been very helpful and considerate in your replys to my post! Thanks mate and well done. Pat
  3. took it for a spin and went like a dream! Sorry for the lack of detail I was trying to get the daughter off to sleep. I have had on order for two months a Stessco Skipper run about and I put a 40hp suzuki four stroke on her. AWESOME! It is a 4 metre runabout and I will be taking picks tomorrow! I also learnt the hard way that it is best to stay inside the markers...the prop got a couple of teeth...just small ones nothing a file won't fix. photos tomorrow. pat

  5. Hi raiders, I saw a chart somewhere that matched the size of a boat to how it should be driven in certain weather conditions. ie: 4m boat in .02 seas, boat can be driven full throttle. in 0.5 green wash pull back on thottle some spray etc... have any of you seen this chart. Do you know where I can get it? or can you point me in the right direction. I thought I saw it on NSW Maritime but for the life of me I can't find it. Pat

    Lessons Sought

Hi Raiders, after years of research and nagging the "trouble and strife" I finally put a deposit on my first boat. A Stessco 420 Skipper powered by a 40hp 2 stroke (not good for re sale...I know), but the price was in my budget. Anyway, if any raiders are heading out with a 4m to 4.5m tinnie and have the patients to have a "big fella" watch their every move on a launch (no need to go out) I would love to come out and watch/participate in a few launches before I get my early xmas present in December. The dealer has offered to take me out for the first run. But I would like a bit more experience as I will be taking the boat away camping down to Victoria over the xmas season and the more confident I am the less stressed the "cheese and Kisses" will be. I am more than happy to buy andy one a many thanks Paddy
  11. Hi Raiders, just want to start researching a family holiday down the south coast and want to know the best and legal way to catch lobsters using a net...or what kind of net, bait etc. Can anyone help the helpless. Paddy
  12. I am heading south for a family camping trip am want to see if i can net a couple of lobsters....any ideas?...opera house or crab pots which is the best?
  13. Thanks Stucatz! Mate I have witnessed a "bung"el before and it wasn't pretty! I am in the inner-west too so I amy well call on you on one of my first harbour cruisers! Thanks mate. Paddy
  14. Thanks Pelican.... wise words and I will hit the dealer up to take me out the first time. I will also make a check list. My father in law does the same with his boat...when its working. He bought a very old half cabin with a very old engine. Which is why I am buying a brand new tinnie. No hassles (hopefully) and will work up to the half cabin when feeling a little more experienced. Pat
  15. G'day, I am just about to fork out $7K on a new tinnie and engine combo. so far the Stessco 395 Bass V nose punt is looking good with a 30HP Suzuki. But I have read some of your post on the welding. Not being very handy how do I tell if the welding is good or not. By the way of you want a good laugh I will make sure that I let you all know when and where I am launching the boat for the first time. Thanks Pat
