  1. G'day Raiders, I ahve had my boat for two years and never serviced the trailer (the wheels etc). Is it easy to get into the bearings or should I take it to a professional. In saying this I am not practical at all. So the reel question how much. I want to do it this week as it seems its going to be a bit blowy. FYI My trailer is a Booker single axle job. Thanks Raiders pat
  2. Mack the two that I brought to the surface would have been around 80cm and felt like they weighed between 3 or 4 kg. But my arms were aching by that stage.
  3. Fishing... Love it!

  4. Salmon big dirty salmon... Lots of fun though.
  5. I took my Kayak out today for the first time in a year or so. I keep it at my Out Laws place at lake Macquarie and is used in times of emergancy...like when my wife won't let me bring the boat up...coz I need to spend more time with the kids....they are more than welcome on the boat :-). Anyway I went for a fish - i just wanted to see if I will ever master soft plastics (unlikely but I am a wishful guy!). My first cast straight onto a yacht and the hook digs deeply into an anchor rope. As I try to un hook myself I lose my knife overboard! Yet another McInerney day on the water. A few minutes later and I am off and running - the wind is pushing me along at a good pace and after around 30 cast I finally get a very little nibble - my first ever on soft plastics so I am feeling pretty chuffed. By this stage the wind has pushed me a long way from where I started so I think I should head back and start the drift again - 20 minutes of paddling and I am back to my starting position....and I start casting again. First cast nothing, second cast...nothing. third cast and SMASH. My reel starts singing like Elvis...line is peeling off it and any attempt by me to stop it is useless as the underwater steam train that has taken my bait starts to pull me (110Kg man) and my kayak around the lake. five minutes later and the fight is still going...ten minutes later the fight is still on 12 minutes later and the fish has won. Elated but sore I rig up again, same size hook, same soft plastic and the first cast I am off again....reel is spinning the line is peeling off it and once again the big man is off on a free tour of Lake Mac. This time I am determined to see the beast from below...I am ready to let this monster tire itself out.....I wait as it takes a run...then I regain some line...then it runs again....I retrieve a little more line...it runs again. But this time i can feel that its not as hard or as fast as the times before...I start to pull more and more line in and finally I can see the silver demon rising from the depths....I can see the colour of its eyes...I get the monster to the side of the boat....but I have made one fatal mistake. I have left the net at home :-) To quote the missus "you Moron"!. I suppose this time I will have to agree with her. Good fun though. No pics as the kayak and mobile phones don't mix...it took me a few times....but I am there now...sorry for my poor spelling and gramma if you read this
  6. G'day Raiders, I have been fishing now for around three years. I have read all the books, bought some of the equipment (all light) and have only ever landed two platable fish! I have even bought a boat - and the biggest joke with the people I take out is, Pat (me) will take us to the fish he just can't land one! My boat is a 4.2 Stessco Runabout, I live in Tempe NSW and maily fish Botany Bay and just outside if weather permits. Sometimes head up to Lake Mac. Seriously, anyone willing to show me what I am doing wrong would be greatly apprecaited. I cover fuel and bait cost. Please PM if interested. I can only Fish Weekends. Pat

    Gps Charts

Hi Raiders Just got a Eagle Sea Charter/Flish Elite and didn't realise that I had to buy the charts. Can anyone reconmend where I can get them? Pat
  8. HI raiders Don't know if you are familiar with the Cooks River Boat Club in Tempe, but it has closed down. Thankfully the yard is still open and members can keep thier boats there and this is good. But unfortunately with the actual club closed it has meant that the club was unattended over the weekend and the crooks moved in. I personally lost a brand new VHF radio, all fishing tackle two rods (cheap), fuel tank, bait board and they have made a mess of my wiring! So frustrated - anyone know of a safe place to keep a run about in the Tempe area? what are your thoughts of keeping a boat on the road outside your house? Please let me know. Thanks Pat
  9. sounds like fishos need to be a ittle bit more considerate when operating in the Lane cove area. Less noise and rubbish on jettys will probably end this argument. Pat
  10. That is awesome that you did it yourself! what an achievement! I also have boat envy! well done mate enjoy. Pat
  11. Hey Dave, you sound pretty handy. Want to help out at my place. You could do a few jobs around the place and I could bring back the fresh fish. let me know or PM me if you are interested:-) Pat
  12. great day for it Geeone! The fish are secondary - beig a pretty bad fisher and often returning with just bait I feel I can say that. just enjoy mate! Pat
  13. hi Guys is it too late for me plus one? cheers Pat
  14. Hi mate there is a place just inside the swansea channel (lake end). its on the jetty that hires out house boats and also has the water police and nsw maritime offices. don't know anymore than that tho sorry mate.
  15. Mate it sounds like a great boat, But If you are buying a Stacer I would chat with Huey. 30hp 2 stroke will get you around - but for a little more (if you have it or the bank will give it to you) a new boat with a 4 stroke would be the way to go. But I have a 420 with a similar set up but a 40 4 stroke and it is great family fun! Enjoy and don't spend what you can't afford. Pat
  16. G'Day Raiders just wired up a VHF radio and wondered if I need to get a licence or do a course before using. Anyone know what the rules are. Thanks Pat
