  4. hi Raiders hit botany bay this morning with a bag of pumkinseed 10cm. went to the oil wharf and within half hour 3 of the gulps had been gulped with nothing but hook on the line. then stuck our nose outside and went down towords cronulla - once again the gulps got gulped - with no return. Finally all the gulps were gone and I was back on the prawns and ended up bringing up three very nice blackies around 500 meters of the shore - sorry no pics. quick question I was using a jighead no. 2 hook with 1gram sinker the gulp ws a lot bigger then this hook rig. hould I up grade the size of the jighead or down size the size of the gulps. All in all a good few hours on the water. pat

  7. Hi Raiders, still on my L's when it comes to fishing and boating. I am still using prawns for bait and pilli's in my burley. I am reading so much from you guys about SP's - but which ones do I buy and how do i use them? I mainly fish Botany Bay and Lake Macquarie and generally catch undersize bream. I dont keep them. But one day I do want to bring home a fish that i am truly proud of. I have booked into a fishing school - but that doesn't start until July and I can't wait. Any advise would be greatly appreicated. Thanks Pat
  8. Hey Raiders went out today at 6am headed to Molleanioux bit windy and lumpy so went and drifted the groines of Brighton and it was game on. couple under size snapper to start with then a few small bream and finally these Trev's. all in all it was a great morning out there and even more importantly I get to have a photograph of fish I caught. Thanks to Esky for the southern side tip. Right on the money mate. Pat
  9. being new to fishing all my gear is pretty much bottom of the market stuff. you guys would laugh at my set ups. but needless to say I have bought myself a nice reel and decent rod recently and the feel and handling is awesome. In saying this the combo only costed $150 and i have not managed to catch anymore fis with it. But I love heading out evey weekend and being on the water - its just awesome and that is what fishing is all about Relaxing. well for me anyway. Pat
  10. this is from the maritime hand book No Wash Signs “Wash” is the wave effect created by a vessel moving through the water. No Wash signs are placed in some areas where the wash from a vessel is likely to cause damage to the foreshore or vessels, or injury or annoyance to people. Travel at a speed which creates minimal wash when you see this sign and when near moored or anchored vessels. Look behind you to check that you are not creating wash and note the effect of your wash on other boats and the shore. Adjust your speed if necessary. Regardless of signs, you should not navigate your vessel in such a way as to produce excessive wash that endangers other vessels or causes nuisance, as this is an offence
  11. hey guys, I thought that a no wash zone was 4 knots. but is was travelling down the Georges a couple of weeks ago behind a Maritime boat in a 8 knot zone and as soon as he got to the No Wash sign he took off like a bat out hell! I though he was on the chase, but no he wasn't so cut a long story short I took off after him and have treated no wash zones as areas where you can travel with care on a plane? which has minimal wash on my baot anyway. pat

    Boat Name.

Great name....mmmmm 5'O Clock Mine is scruffy...sad but true. My 3 year old girl named it after the Little Golden Book Scruffy the little red tug boat. Of course "scruffy" is white and only a 4.2 run about so the similiarities finish with the name....
