    My Pirtek Result

yeh i mean im disapointed i didnt get the 5g, but really how can i ever complain about that result, got to donate to a good charity, go for a good day fishing, catch a big fish and win 1000 bucks worth of fishing gear all in the one day and ill i had to do was pay 15 bucks. i will post a list of what in the pack later this week when i get it Cheers Cory
  7. Hey all Just got home and received an email from the guys at Pirtek saying that i got 2nd Place in the NSW Flatty comp, so i get a fishing pack, thats all i know for now, when i find out more ill let you all know. and also ./fingers crossed that the fish that beat mine was 90cm+ because it would be disapointing if it was like an 82cm beating my 80 lol Cheers Cory
  8. id have to agree that flatties and bream are your best bets to start off with, give some different baits and rigs a go like suggested. Servo Prawns always attract the little breams and other smaller fish, some people go by that rule that the bigger the bait then the bigger the fish, which is not always true but give it a try, next time give some Servo Squid a go or try some raw chicken breast fillet on the hook, that may sound weird but from what ive heard its the gun bait for Breams. Anyway good luck and i hope you get something worth eating soon! Cheers Cory
  9. yeh im looking forward to it but im trying not to get my hopes up just yet! but even if i dont get a place it was still 15 bucks well spent and it went to a good cause so how could you complain about that. Cheers Cory

Is It A Eel Or A Fish!

quick question about this fish, are these the pike that are good jew bait that can be caught in lake macquarie?
  11. haha i just realised that they have my fish on the front page of the pirtek website, number 4 the photo is and lol there is some other great photos there, my fav one is the kid with a stick on the bragmat instead of a fish lol. cheers Cory
  12. Happy Birthday Mate, Hope you have a good Day
  13. hey all i just thought id let you know that i received an email from Michael Guest tonight asking for some more pics for judging purposes and i put in a good word for fishraider of course Cheers Cory
  14. 3" Gulp minnows are gun bream Plastics, but bait id have to agree with Chicken gut or Just actual Chicken Fillet Cheers Cory
  15. The red spots are the spots we drifted in and out of the whole day to keep out of the wind, it didnt always work but they were the most sheltered spots we could make it to, The right spot near the inlet has produced good flatties the last two times ive been there, so check that out for sure with some plastics (not in the inlet but along the bank beside it), The middle red spot is where i picked up the 80cm flatty and also the small bream and the bigger bream. The left point we got the other big bream. I think all those spots are great for drifting with plastics so its worth checking them out. cheers Cory
  16. Haha that was my dad not me, those bragmats werent the best, the fish kept sliding off it so it toke about 4 hands to hold the fish on and take the photo while we were getting bashed around by waves
  17. Thanks for the kind words all =) and i didnt actually mind the weather, it kinda made it more exciting and it was good to go for a fish, although i dont think the old man and his mate were to happy about the weather haha. Roberta unfortunatly the flatty didnt have ur SX40 =( but if it did i would send it back express post so you could put it back into action asap =P it really sucks when u lose lures worth over 20 bucks! Also Roberta you must of been keen to be out in that weather today in a yak! being in a boat was rocky enough. Cheers Cory
  18. Hey all Got up at 5 this morning and got ready, by about 6 or 6.30 my Dad and I had the boat launched in the rain and wind but we toughed it out, for the first hour or so it was fairly slow we didnt get many hits or anything but then at about 7.30 im guessing we got a decent 45cm flatty for the table, and then at 8.30 got my fish to enter in the pirtek comp which was an 80Cm flatty in the pic below, After a few more hours fishing we picked up some nice bream and that was our day Done. We used Soft Plastics all day as i dont think any of us were motivated enough to get any bait because of the conditions.
  19. not sure exactly what the prizes are mate but i know there is like 2500 worth and i think you have chances with like lucky door prizes etc, its a good set up comp and will be a great day out for whoever enters. You register for it at the tennis club in Summerland point, if you dont know where that is when you come down kananga drive (the long road to summo and gwandalan) turn left at the round o bout and follow that road down a few 100 metres and it will be on the right side, ull see the tennis courts. you just reg in the club i think its about 25 bucks, and on the day you get a bbq for lunch and all that when you come in and go to the club later in the night for prizes and such. cheers Cory
  20. my Dad his mate and I were going to enter that one but the probelm was that its the same weekend as the pirtek comp and the way in is on the sunday of the pirtek comp, which would be ok if the way in wasnt at like 12 i think it is, so you cut your pirtek day in half, which is really unfortunate because i really would of liked to be in the local comp hope you do alright and ive heard there is some decent prizes to be won so good luck! Cheers Cory
  21. hey mate my fav set ups are baitcaster set ups for sure because i prefer baitcasters but my first beach set up (egg beater setup) which i still use was just a cheap Okuma Vecta (or something like that) from a tackle store it was like 60 or 70 bucks lol and is really nothing good at all, and you can buy a 12 foot beach rod for about 40 - 60 bucks from any good Tackle store, combine those with some 25Lb mono and ull be sweet or as suggested above you can also go for a combo, it all depends on what you want to spend and how much you want to use it. Cheers Cory

    Landbased

hey mate if i were you id post this in the General fishing topic of the forum as you will most likely get more replys from there. When i started beach fishing i just used a simple 3 Gang hook rigs (gang hook size 4 i think) with a full pilchard and got into some tailor off the beach, tailor are good fun and relatively easy to catch. One thing i will suggest u look into is in your local tackle store you might be able to find Sure catch Pre set up rigs, they are in a little packet about 10cm by 10cm and contain 1 Gang hook rig, they are easy and that way u dont have to spend 20 bucks on leader line. They used to cost me 3 bucks each before i started to buy my own gear. Cheers Cory
  23. Happy birthday mate and i think all fishos have bad days and good days, But getting one fish is always better then nothing, so hang in there! Cheers Cory
  24. Wow awsome fish mate, its posts like this that make me hungry to get out on the beach and go for a fish! if you dont mind me asking what bait were you using for this monster? cheers Cory
  25. thats similar to what i do now, but one day i was bored so instead of buying a noodle i made up a cyclinder out of rubber foam type thing, so basically the same as a noodle, but i find that as a land based fisho im always trying to stuff it into a back pack and my gang hooks never want to sit just right in them, so i think with gang hook rigs the bags are gonna be the way to go so i can put them in a back pack without to much hassle
