  1. Finally after a 4 month absence from fishing i finally got a weekend off work and had planned a trip fishing with the family . Did a few checks on the important factors and it was all bad . The wind was up and 1 of the boys was sick so we were down to just a father and son trip. Now to work out where to fish , what spots are going to be out of the wind . We picked Sussex as it would be protected and i wanted to show the boy all the fish in the pond at Husky creek. We left home at 8 and pick up some worms ( incase the whiting were around )and headed down .We dropped the boat into the wind and headed across the bay .Half way over and there was a 1.5 metre surge running untill we got around the point and got into the channel . We set the boat up and i looked at the sounder , the water temp was 13.3 , no whiting in that water so we started fishing for mullet instead. It was windy and we needed the 2 anchors to stop the boat swaying around everywhere. The burly deployed and it didnt take long for the fish to arrive .We fished solid for the next 3 hrs with no another boat in sight .We only got 1 whiting and all the bream didnt fight which i think was due to the cold water . We took nearly 1 hr to get back across the bay as the wind was so bad but it was worth it . Then we headed over to Husky creek where all the boy could say was its just a big dream .It still amazes me to see all them fish and how big they are .We had 4kg flathead hitting the pilchards as soon as they hit the water , at 1 stage we had 4 sitting there on top of each other .Even got to see a 3kg snapper hit the pilly , what a sight . We headed home and had to do all the cleaning on sunday ,WHEN IT WASNT WINDY
  2. I was up there last weeek , bloke got a 30kg longtail , did you see the 8ft bronze whaler cruzing around ?
  3. No mate , the work is too busy , noticed you got a great catch out of the bay , the boys are telling me its very quiet at the moment.
  4. You just have to tie the tassie onto your main line and add a treble , dont use the treble provided as it acts as a weight when they jump to throw the hooks , good luck
  5. No need to get up the Asian man as he is just following the rules , you should get up the fisheries . There is no size limit on Bass , just a daily limit .You had better go back there and say sorry with that egg on your face .
  6. Only prawns mate and down south I only fish safe spots , there was a good swell running too. Ah Tony , you da man with a million words , the fruit basket is this weekend , i will ring you to see how ya going .
  7. I have fished the river for 39 years and that is the biggest bass i have seen photos off come out of the river , Well done mate .
  8. Mate , i fished the stones yesterday and with a bad knee and knee guard on i am always carefull . I fall everywhere when walking in due to this knee and the fellows call me mr bean .I have been lucky so far but like you my time will come . Hope you recovery goes smoothly .
  9. With the boat stuck behind the work trailer and full of crap ( another job that can wait ) i decided to hit the rocks with a mate for a quick early fish .The tide was a good sized high at 10 so the plan was to fish early and be home by lunch to have a fresh fish bbq with the family .We hit the rocks at 7 and fist cast resulted in a good size drummer .The next 4 were bust offs and when this happens the fish usually shut down . For the next 30 mins all we could get was sweep and wrasse. We were starting to worry that we had blown our chance with the earlier bustoffs . I had to do something so i weht down to the 4.5kg line and it worked .We were into the fish again . I scored 5 in 5 casts and my mate got 3 in 6 casts . Next thing i knew my mate is yelling that hes onto a big drummer , i call it a big silver and he agrees but the fish goes high and he gets some line back. Then it heads straight for us and he guides it straight up the rocks and we look at this awsome 3kg snapper . We fished for the next hr getting our bag of drummer and headed home for the barbie .Love it when a plan comes together , its even better when your mate gets a trophy fish of the rocks .
  10. PJ You now know 1 of trout fishing biggest secrets , the tassie devil backwards is a leathal weapon .It works even better that way with more action .The trout are there , early morning and late arvo is the go . Dont give up mate .

  17. Finally got up the nepean on Sat arvo with the family .We headed up to the warragamba and threw around a few tassies to get 2 brown and 1 rainbow .We had 8 other hook ups but lost them . The trout we got were full of gudgons so we should have used a slower moving lure . We had a heaps of fun with the kids and they didnt want to come home . Looks as if the weed may have been washed away.Only time will tell.

  19. Good to see mate , being waiting for someone to get into the trout , i am hoping to get up there on sunday .

  21. Being a local that has fished the River for 39 years , i have caught it all after floods like this . Not only do we get the trout that come out of the Warragamba we also get heaps of big Silver Perch that survive from the 2 Wollongong dams when they spill .I have caught from the nepean 25lb carp ,8lb silver perch , 5lb rainbow and brown trout ,5lb catfishand bass and 6lb mullet . Most of the good landbased spot are now gone due to the Penrith Lakes but the weir will fire in the comming months for trout . Just wait and see.
  22. When the dam opens the trout flow over , back in the day ( 1998 ) got bag limits trolling tassie devils above the gorge , i will be up there next weekend , off to swansea for a feed of bream and whiting .
  23. Any Raiders thinking of heading up the nepean for a trout fish ,hope we get some reports .
  24. We only use 1 bait when fishing for bream , chicken cut into pieces with parmo cheese .Hope you get up there as its the best waterway on the whole nsw coast.
