  1. Fished on sunday with myself, Dave (offtap), Jon (jjsydney) and Filipe onboard. Plan was to get livies head to the 12 mile for a jig then out to browns and drop to the bottom and if we heard any reports of tuna we would troll and cube for them. Launched into Botany Bay at 5.00am, headed over to the bait grounds and loaded the tank with yakkas and headed out. First stop was the peak for a jig for nil, then the 12 mile for nil. so we put the jigging gear away and headed for the mountain, the wind was up in the morning and i though that the weather boys had stuffed it up again, we persisted and bashed through it hoping that it would back off as predicted. Got to the mountain and it was green as and chockers with boats and no reports of tuna on the radio, we stayed in contact with a few boats that where out wider and they hadn't turned a reel so we got the reef queen out and dave had his electric reel and we sent it to the bottom with a variety of baits. The current was very strong 2.5 to 3.0 knots so the boat was in reverse the whole time. Then the wind backed off to nothing and over the next few hours we had a few beers, soaked up the lovely warm sun and the still conditions and pulled up 2 Blue eye cod around 10kg and 8 good sized gem fish to around 6kg on 1 drop we pulled 3 jemmies up with 3 hooks a full house. We reached our limit so we motored home at 25 knots with a great feed in the tank. Was the most enjoyable day i have had fishing in quite some time, great crew, perfect conditions and weather, the boat went well and 2 gem fish and a slab of Blue Eye cod each in the tank. Thanks boys for a great day looking foward to doing it again. Very enjoyable Cheers Iain
  2. Sammy how do you find it thumbing the line on while jigging. I am looking at getting a Torsa 30 also mate, but wasnt sure about the thumbing as i have never jigged with a overhead. Did you get the reel from tony. Cheers Iain

  5. An idea what busted you off mate, did the line snap instanty, if not how long where you connected for. Still a nice bag of fish mate well done, would have been nice to know what is lurcking around at moll point
  6. Great fish boys well done, well deserved for your commitment
  7. Yeap mate the 80kg one is going to be moulded and then put on Filipe wall next to his nice dolly mould that he already has. I hope he has a big wall. I am not a huge fish eater so i only keep trophy fish and maby a small one if i can be bothered cleaning it cause i have a few friends that love it. The best way that i have tasted Yellowfin is smoked. It's hard to beat
  8. Awsome night well organised and very informative. I had a blast Thanks Ross, Stwy and Donna
  9. we enjoyed it for the first hour or so but after that we wanted it in the boat. Cheers Iain
  10. thanks mate. Conditions where good we did 20 knots in and out we had a bit of a blow while we where on the cube but that was it. Another thing that i would like to mention when i was coming in, in the pitch black dark i nearly ran over a 3-4 meter tinny in the dark 5 km out from the heads with not a single light on i only saw them when i was next to them in the shine of my lights i wanted to kill them, and if i had of been 20 meters to the left i would have as i would have gone over the top of them on the plane. Was so angry but just looked back at the fish on the back deck and it brought a smile back to my face instantly. Just thought i would mention it, these are the things that cause major injury and death
  11. Thanks for all the replys fella, certainly was the fish of a life time and man do they make a mess of the boat at that size, when it hit the deck and was kicking around the whole boat was shacking. We had a few casulties though. We lost the outrigger base over the side early, then when we brought the fish over the side it bent (1) of the gaffs then when i was trying to give it the golden touch the baseball bat snapped in half so i grabbed the berley muncher and used it and it bent, also the clip on the black magic harness broke. So it was a test of the tackle. The tiagra 30W and the Diawa 15kg STP handled it superbly. Cheers Iain I will put up some more photos in the next 30-40 mins
  12. We hit the water at lunch time yesterday on 'Reel Addiction' after a last minute decision to head out. We headed out wide and trolled lures for a couple of hours for nothing so we decided to hunt around for a nice patch to begin cubing. We found a area that had a couple of birds flying around and nice water colour so we decided this was the spot. Got the trail in and began to strip 2 lines the tiagra 30W gets hit after minutes and we are on and its stripping line fast. After a massive 3 hour fight and many nervous moments we had our fish doing massive circles under the boat. It had 2 gaffs put in it and over the side she came. Here is a pic of Filipe, who did a great job on the rod with his fish. And brad came up with a superb gaff shot to secure the fish. Good work team!! 80kg (weighed) Yellowfin Tuna Cheers Iain

  20. Well after a long weekend here is the report. Trying to make the most out of a half break in the weather Saturday - Fished wide off Kiama onboard Reel Addiction. Arrived at the ramp at 7.00 with the weather lookin verg average. 2.0-3.0m swell and 15-20 knot winds After an hour of discussion we decided to head out so we put the boat in and headed east, drop the lure on the shelf and continued east. We trolled for a few hours until on the radio we heard reports of fish north of use, so we headed up there but by the time we had got there they had gone off the bit, wit 1 boat getting 4 YFT around 20kg. With the weather getting worse and no sign of fish we decided to head for home. Sunday - Fishd wide off sydney aborad a 35 footer which was much better suited as the condition where much the same as saturday if not worse. We punched out into the swells and drop the lures around the shelf without a hit till we stumbled across some nice looking water that was very blue and had a few tuna birds stalking around. We began to cube and after 10 mins we where hooked up to our first after a 10-15 min fight through some extreme conditions 20kg YFT was on the deck. Line rebaited and back out 2 strips off the spool and it is off again, after a 10 min fight a 10kg albie was onboard we continued to cube for the nex couple of hours for nothing another boat 3 miles away had a triple hookup on albies also. Here is a pic the fish have lost alot of colour as this was at the dock. Cheers Iain
  21. I personally was go to try and get out as next weekend already looks like a right-off From my sources it appears that there is little wind but some decent swell 2-3m Drove past the bay this afternoon and the water is still a chocolate brown colour.
