  1. i spotted a 12ft 8-12kg rod reel plus fishing line combo from penn that i going to mention for 119 plus delivery online only because im going to recommend this to my work mate who is in need of another combo plus his gear outdated and a good fish will bust his plastic reel thus losing the fish most likey

  2. hay raiders

got bored as fishings been slow due to poor whether and family commitments

so made a few lures up thought i whack up a pic or two

the clear lures are made from un formed plastic bottles

stainless thru wire (tig wire) coke can insert a sinker for rear weight stainless rings and just back to back hooks and hot glued thru the top

they are not cut in half they weight from 70 to 85grams and ride just under with a bubble trail cast great too

just gotta hook a fish on it and i should feel amazing knowing i made it and it works i have used the mother can one only travel thru the water awesome and one of the blokes at work says a stupid fish is gonna eat that i reakon a good fish will time will tell

i really should have posted it better but spur of the moment thing

    cheers

  3. From what I remember most English man spool them up with 15lb mono but if I was to have one. I would try 20lb braid / mono depending on reel capacity. Rod just suit your chosen line class round 8 or 10kg it's up to you also if your lb or on a boat too

  4. i buy a 3 yr licence anyhow more importantly does this mean there gonna restock jewie fingerlings again and other fish could not find info to say they did last year

also didn't they downsize with that move from cronulla

    cheers

  5. @ ginko you can put a sinker under the float above the swivel then attach leader below if necessary but i find it hard to cast and it makes the livey tire faster and it dies eventually.

For south curl with a moderate high tide i usually use 3 meters of leader under the swivel with the float running free between swivel and the hook. Pin the livey as close to the head as possible (without hitting bone) this makes them want to dive more. done this way the yakka will usually last the whole day if you don't fuss with it too much. Remember kingfish hit on the surface as well so anywhere from 0-3m is fair game!

With the wind/wash thats just part of a learning curve and how you decide which spots to go to depending on the conditions.. using a smaller profile float ( like a 5cm ish torpedo float ) helps or moving more to another spot and trying a different wash. I also bring the baitrunner which is a spin reel and can be casted if the wash is not cooperating.

Went south whale rocks this morning.... the wash was horrible as the swell was too low....

beautiful day again but no fish this time...... thats fishing for you!

just wondering what overhead you have pictured in the photo its a star drag of some sort just wondering

  6. interested to hear peoples thoughts on this looking at same thing try an overhead rod ordered reel undecided looking a daiwa seagate , saltist and shimano tekota and torium because i only get one chance at this thats my budget

  7. mine an 11ft 8 to 15 kg spinfisher sbg rod matched with a penn slammer 760 baitrunner style reel all up its under $200 rod reel line and all

i also have the 560 version too it easily catches jewies biggest on the 560 model is 80cm nice tussle too but that was on 7ft rod

you could get a fin- nor biscayne its an alloy reel not plastic has carbon fibre drag for like $80 or pfluger salt at $120

need any other info can shoot me pm if ya like

  8. Can't believe I've had to resort to a forum to find a bait shop! I live in the inner west - looking for something closer than Macks Bait Bar at Blakehurst. I don't buy store bait often enough to know what stores are still open with good live/fresh bait.

Anyone know? Must be open early.

    Cheers

  11. for its shelf life or best used as bait is 48hours maybe 72 to keep it as its freshest the flesh should be firm still regardless whether its gutted or not

most likely better gutted anyhow as the gut has no chance to breakdown cause it aint there :biggrin2:
