hell alot of a jump people will still take them under size if the size limit goes up to 110 think that number is wrong but don't jews start to spawn at 70 or 75cm and up though

hey raiders me and my mate shannon hatched a plan on fri to hit the Hawkesbury on sunday and what a great day it turned out to be weather was perfect half metre swell hardly to no wind its was great put the boat in at 7am odd then straight to flint and steel popped the anchor out and waited for the tide change grabbed some livies while we were there slipped one out 10mins later shes buckling took it easy one the fish min or so later a john dory pops up you beauty a 46.5cm model awesome
caught few bream and reefies and trevs in between slipped another bait out half hour later it buckles again i started to call it for jew played it slow and steady i tell my mate its a bream and a nice specimen too at 43cm
got few other throw backs and keepers and got large shovel nose too at about the metre mark
once it got quiet we went down for a drift or 2 picking up some flatties and flounder for the table
great day out

hey raiders
looking at a boat that has a merc on her motor looks fairly new a 90s era have to ask what year it is
mates uncle said they are rubbish engines and are prone to break down i said its like a car treat the engine like shit and dont service enough then it will cause you grief
somewhere down the line
but are their any raiders that have an opinion or facts on this subject
cheers

I wanted to try a travel rod out as it's easy to travel with so I got tsunami travel rod Its 4-8 kgs 8 foot long and 173 grams in weight and runs their own components but at $36 on special normally 80 it's great value and paired with my 4000 stradic and 15 pound line it's good for that after work session or metals of the rocks
That's what I got anyhow

Cracking groper mate well done
what rod is that?
-
Your not wrong, I named it Bruce
Thanks mate, I was in only in 10 metres of water
Thanks Outfisher. I looked up the size to weight ratio myself and saw that myself. When I tried to weight it on the 60lb boga grips it was off the scales before I had lifted it off the ground, a couple of the boys who picked it up reckon it was definitely over 30kg. I really don't know to be honest but wish I got a proper measure before it got filletted.
Cheers Keflapod, I never actually caught a Jew until I got my little tinny last year then cracked one within hours hours of buying the boat. I've been smashed a few times by big fish on light gear but had no chance of getting them in and everytime I go out with heavier gear it doesn't get touched (Murphy's Law!). To me this was the holy grail of fishing over any other species, only problem is now I have the Jewie fever and want to get back out there to get another one...
Can anyone tell me how to get the jewel out of it's head? I saw some instructions on the internet but no diagram and to was really struggling to find it
Cheers humesy, you're right mate got the Baitmate board, works a treat and is the only way to go with limited space
Thanks Hooked up, The adrenalin was definitely pumping but did my best to keep calm during the fight. Definitely a bit shaky once it was in the boat and I realised how big it was
i get my jewels out with a hack saw blade and my hands not my pic but you get the idea of location
your jewels should well be the size of 20cent coins or bigger best bragging rights and proof too
hope you still got the fish head
