  1. nice way to spend a few hours can i ask how much meat is on a shark that size are you sharing it friends does the flesh freeze well

also are you letting the bait be your weight ie. no sinker to your bait and let it roll in the waves or is it weighted to the sea floor

sorry for picking your brain but if you dont ask you'll never know

    cheers mick

  2. Rey, good question. Might depend on what types of fish, where it is hooked and what type of hook too i guess as i could imagine some may dissolve faster than others and also depending on their shape. I reckon the hook is better for the fish removed, rather than staying hooked on the fish.

Next catch, u should try taking a fish home, put it in the bath bro and check it out every now and then to see how long it stays in its mouth

Overall, id prefer just take the hook out(if possible) and then u get to keep the hook for another catch :1fishing1:

Check the attachment out. Looks like the fish swallowed it all the way and tried to crap it out! Dayaamn, i can just feel it now....!!

jeez that looks painful hope you took the fish home if it was size

i myself try to get the hooks out all the time but sometimes you are likely to kill the fish in the process a company should create small version of long side cutters just to cut the hook of jig heads in the gill area then again a fish de-hooker could get a hook thats deep but safe to remove

  3. when casting with braid and weigths over 50 grams you have a few other reason that wind knots occur ,the 2 main reason are hitting the cast late ,this means that you are trying to hard late in the cast ,keep the cast smoth . the other one that comes in to play is the way the line shots thru the guides ,there is a point on your rod that is chocking your cast ,this is where the line is sloowed down as it trys to get thru the guides ,with weight still pulling hard at the beging of the cast the loops are coming of the spool to fast to get thru the guide .this is where the wind knot comes from as a loop catchs the guide as it trys to get thru the guide , one other that dose make things worst is with the saltis is that the roller on the bail arm sticks abit if not mantained ,this will put more line twist ,2 hours spinning heaps of twist plenty of wind knots .

    56 grams in full flight

yeh the line roller on saltist the bearing /bushing is just plastic they should have had the decency to install a ball bearing for the price that they go for the one extra bearing would cost to diawa what about a $2 installed really disappointed when i opened it up

also i was casting 80 grams too the line had got caught on the guides now and again but im tieing a slim beauty on the leader which is small

i will take on board all comments and preventative measures and look at that video thanks fellas

    cheers mick

  4. i'll definitely give the line some tension periodically before retrieving im quite sure my spool has the correct amount on line on it but heres a pic any how (note) theres 60lb jinki leader on there too

  5. hey raiders

well on my past few outings of tossing lures off the stones one of which was today wind was blowing quite a bit i got an air knot the braid is rovex varios braid its not stiff like some other braids but i get an air knot at least once an outing todays was about 15 metres from the leader

the rod is a penn big game surf 10 footer , reel is saltist 4500 i doubt its the rod or reel unless the line is not rifling though the guides correctly as the rod has 6 guides including the tip im thinking its could be the braid but its brand new its 30lb by the way im seriously thinking of trying a high end mono line

also i use a slim beauty as my leader knot

    any thought raiders

    cheers mick

  6. finally some good news and great to see that they didn't just rubbish the fish:D

but once again there is still a heap of people keeping undersized fish i mean each day ive been at picnic point ive seen people keeping 20cm bream, trevally, whiting that's hardly 15cm same with tailor and flathead.

saw many people keeping undersize fish at clifton gardens on sat night/ sunday morn

small fish comes up goes straight in to the bucket not to be seen again

    .

seems fisheries were tipped off why dont they patrol some of the fish markets at any rate at least action was taken

  7. It's an odd couple of fish on lures cause you didn't catch either fish on the lure, both look as though they were jagged in the back. They are pretty thick there at the moment i have accidentally jagged a few while chasing frigates.

i'd say its hooked you need a hook to jag a fish regardless either way the fish was caught

there are plenty of blackies running up and down the breakwall

    cheers

    mick

  8. Well done mate. Make sure you submit the tarwhine for the lure section record

    Cheers

    Hodgey

    i will hodgey

    .

just to let you's know i caught the tarwhine using a lift and drop method more like a plastic

and the blackie on a straight retrieve

had a few other bumps but failed to hook up

the tarwhine will tomorrow/mondays dinner yum

    thanks for your comments raiders

    cheers mick

  9. hay raiders

i had been doing some work in morisset close to lake macquarie and had been fishing dora creek mouth for bream and others species caught alot of under size fish and one legal bream lived to fight an other day

any how decided to fish swansea on thursday the 25th with just lures for tailor and here is the result was fun spinning but better when hooked the tarwhine it when 37cms and weighted a little over a kilo

i managed to get my catch bag caught i a rock crevice which led me run down the breakwall to the bushes to find a large curved stick took me a good 20 mins to get the fish and catch bag out but its was well worth it :biggrin2:

spoke to a few locals one particular fello targets jew for sport only his best was 27kg but has seen a 40kg caught he fishes for them 6 days a week i was goob smaked :1yikes: we had a good yarn great fella he was using live trevally as bait as yakkas were hard to come by

and scored a blackie too i let the blackie go but kept the tarwhine which smashed my pb by over 15 cms woohoo and a first on both counts for the tarwhine and blackie on lure

i tried swansea bridge at 7am after i left the breakwall with poppers first cast 3 to 5 metres away see a large swirl cast close to same area but the fist cast must have spooked it the fish was gone through poppers for about 20mins and gave up

any that was my arvo at swansea

when and if my penn 760 dies im gonna try them at $200 its worth at look

    cheers

    mick

  11. ive got two live liners 540 and the 760 more than happy with them caught a king on the 760 it had no problems at all i got mine for 150 each so at that price its a steal

i dont have a boat so i can't comment on their usage in bottom bashing but they are strong as or you could grab the fin nor offshore series being only $50 more with a hellova lot more drag

    cheers mick
